  2. In response to a great question by RagunCajun I thought I'd throw out some trans info including various shifting problems and fixes I've had over the years. His quote "please report back once the pro mod is in. I went from an override to pro mod so I don't know how much better a pro mod is over stock." I'm the odd man out here running airshifted auto 1-4 m5&6 overrides (asphalt) but my son runs 6 speed promods for dirt drags, asphalt and secondary road riding which is legal here in Ohio. My overrides require ignition kill to shift into the non-cut 5th and 6th gears. Without unloading the tranny gear pressure no upshift will happen. My son ran stock trannies for years before upgrading to promods. When it comes to making super-fast "fan the clutch" type shifts his promods are without a doubt easier and far more reliable in making constant shifts over his OEM's but other than that situation I personally don't feel a promod has a great advantage... With regards to the following keep in mind that the troubles we ran into over the years were under race, wide open throttle type conditions/situations: The FIRST thing either of us will do when we run into missed quick shift situations at the track is change the oil. When the oil gets contaminated with clutch material it seems to cause problems with the smooth sliding internals when under pressure. I especially have to watch this in my asphalt Banshee's with multi-stage clutches which slip out of the hole because clutch material sheds off so much faster than usual. *Something I started doing long ago - Because of the contamination I drain the trans at the end of each race day and filter it through a fine paint strainer then let it sit for months to completely settle anything out. When I fill my tranny I use 1 litre of fresh new oil and top off with the strained. As far as transmission mechanical stuff goes: I'd say for sure that one of the most important adjustments to check if you're having problems is the shift/change lever but make certain that all the individual components are good and within spec because it isn't normal for that adjustment to change to the point of causing shifting trouble unless something is broken or heavily worn. A couple of weak links in Banshee transmissions are (1st) OEM second gears can be broke even with small motors. Be there done that in as small as a 358 cub. Robison billets are great imo and I'll leave it at that... (2nd) 3rd wheel gear has a very narrow area that rides on the splined output shaft and once galled shifting nightmares occur. I recommend Molly paste on assembly. A tube will last you forever. Moroso 35000 Moroso Moly Paste Assembly Lubes | Summit Racing Long winded for sure and I don't want to come off as a know it all because I'm still learning with these things. Just hoping that someone might pickup some useful information on my first hand experiences and maybe spark some interest back at the HQ!!

Sounds a little more snappy. Just have to wait until the snow is gone before the test ride. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  14. It really sucks when you stretch the bike and it wont hook for crap and handles worse. It also takes up more space in the shed and truck bed which I also didn't care for. So are you going to spend $900+ on a fireball arm the same length as stock just for looks?

  15. More than anything, regardless of political persuasion, I think all of us (right or left) fear a government with too much power and control. The right seems to see the left as reaching for too much control and I think the left see the same from the right. I am starting to think they are all just one big network of control freaks all playing us against each other and sensationalizing the few radicals on either side making it seem like the problems are WAY bigger than they actually are. The media is, by far, the largest problem for all of us. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  18. 421 Serval. Might as well have it ported too while you're at it. research which builder you want to go with and make sure you are ok with current lead times. Builder will set you up with the correct domes for pump gas. Redline, FAST, or driveline clutch kit. Shouldnt need a lockup if you run HD springs but clutch pull will be heavy so lockup is nice if you spend the time to dial it in. Get a pro mod transmission and supporting shift mods. I run a camatv pro mod but again many options, do your research. 28, 33, or 35MM PWK keihins. 28 or 33 will help with fuel mileage, i run 35MM PWKs on my 421 Serval. Get an adjustable billet timing plate or search on youtube on how to modify the stock one. Chariot, Matoon, NOS all build high quality cool heads. I run a NOS. See you talking a lot about having to run stock pipes. Is NH really enforcing those laws? thought their mantra was live free or die lol. Your porting and setup will depend a good amount on what pipes you decide to run. Def talk to your builder and see what they recommend.

  26. I think it was a bad move. Unless your cylinders are finished your stock cylinders are the way to go. Athena has bad plating and port timings I’ve read makes the power band narrow. You would have been better getting Driveline cylinders which have taken that design and improved it and drastically improved the plating.

  27. It’s a pain in the ass. Haha. My company does everything standard according to ISO conformity. But not everything we do is in house. For example, the concentricity call out should be tagged, not hanging in mid air with the diameter call out. Our prints are much nicer, dimensions are standard and absolute. The print you see here isn’t even updated... there is an appendix. Haha. So no REV numbers. They changed material from A2 to CPM4 and hardness from 58Rc to 60Rc. That should be on an updated print. Parallelism, flatness, concentricity, etc is out in space rather than the usual GD&T datum call-out. These prints are frustrating and there are times I get wild mixes of standard and metric on one print, or absolute and incremental on one print for absolutely no reason other than the “engineer” didn’t know how to dimension his prints in solidworks. And sometimes I just don’t have a print. Haha. Like today. And it is seriously a fuck show. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  31. I would go with a Serval or low port Driveline set up. Go with a 421. My engine is in the dyno section if you want to look at what that set up can get you hp wise. A builder like Redline or Driveline knows the formula for their engines so they can set you up all the way. Youll need a pro mod transmission and billet clutch basket for the extra power along with the internal mods like high flow impeller, pancake bearing etc.

  34. Weird, i was just talking about this. I run 28s on a 421 serval and they are dialed in with the Snipers from Cam himself. He did have trouble with these carbs air screw adjustment. I have switched to Shearers and i cant get the jetting where i want them. I just bought 33 PWK from a guy running Driveline set up who couldnt get his 28s working either. This guy eneded up going 35s. Driveline seem to perfer 35s on their 421s, thats how id go.

  35. With 1/2 parts vs a 4 strokes, we can say they are simplier ;-) That been said, tuning them is not easier, but it's cheaper hp per cc. Envoyé de mon SM-N975W en utilisant Tapatalk

  41. Yes you may still have trouble under heavy load. The lockup's using centrifugal force and weights to keep the clutch pack compressed and you're trying to manhandle enough leverage to pull the outer pressure plate away from the pack.

  44. Never send bike parts to an automotive machinist... especially if they tell you the boring machine won't size down small enough. Huh? Boring bars can go to any size, mandrills are interchangeable, feeler gages are cheap and a full on retard can set the bar and measure the bore after the machine basically does the work for him. They also give no fucks about the work they do, in so many cases, because their customers will never know they did a shit job. The dumb fucks doing so much of the work at these places are just pushing a green button on a machine some other dumb fuck set up for him. Just my 2 cents. Don't send anything non-harley to anybody who mostly focuses on harley stuff either. Your parts will always fall behind whatever the yuppie with the CVO dick-face owner wants done to his bike so its cooler than his dick-faced buddy's bike and even though you were next in line, for a blow job from the CVO owner, the shop will push your parts to the side to take care of his new butt buddy. I ride a harley and won't bring my bike to a harley guy. Probably didn't need to say any of this shit but I'm lonely and just want people to like me and be my friend.
