BANSHEEPRO Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 Do any of you run amsoil? They claim 100:1. Do any of you run this? If not what ratio is best? THATS THE SABRE USE THE AMSOIL DOMINATOR AT 50;1 Quote
Banshee0028 Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 I used to run Amsoil Dominator at about 40:1. Very good quality oil. Quote
rynb15 Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 i hear its good stuff but have never used it. Quote
dajogejr Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 Never used their premix, gear oil is junk.... Sorry.... I don't care how good the oil is, I'll never run leaner than 40:1.... 100:1 just flat out makes me nervous, period.... Part of the oil's job is to coat parts so they don't rust, dry out, etc. I don't care how good they say the oil is....if there's hardly any in there, it just ain't going to protect/stick as it needs to. dajogejr Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 I tried it last year, and it shifted worse than with good old tried and true Bel-Ray gearsaver oil. I know my shifter is adjusted properly, as is my clutch...it just didn't shift "like butter" as I was told it would by a Amsoil rep. I'd have to do a search...but I'm pretty sure there is a member on here that is an Amsoil distributor and HE doesn't even use their gear oil, he uses a different brand. That ought to tell you something right there..... Quote
itsaripper Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 I have been using Amsoil for three years. The old name was Series 2000, it was changed to Dominator. I run it at 50:1, it burns clean and doesn't leave a lot of deposets on the piston. The 100:1 is for two stroke lawn mowers, weedeaters, chainsaws, etc, small twostrokes. I have never used the gear oil. Because, my opinion here, synthetics are suposed to be slicker and that would make the wet clutch slip. I run strait old F type ATF, its cheap and makes the clutches grip. Been running it about the same time as the Amsoil. Never burnt up a crank or blew up a trans so that is just my two cents here. DGFUNNY70 Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 I used to run the 100:1 mix for a year or so seemed to work ok then switched to 50:1 dominator seems to work just fine everyone I know uses it and has never had a problem with rust what so ever. I also used to run the Belray gear saver till I split my case that stuff gets sticky like honey after a while now I run torco. Quote
Satsol67 Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 That is what I have been using and I mix it 40:1. I have read that others are mixing 50:1 but I feel better if it is a little rich so I will stick to 40:1. As for the gear oil I cant say. I use bel-ray gear saver for that. Quote
raptorooster Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 Hey there, amsoil 100:1 equals BANG!! got 2 free cylinders off a friend who learned the hard way, it stuck hard!! Dominator at 40:1 works well, I Use Yamalube 2R at 32:1 and have never had a problem! Quote
dajogejr Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 I've used gearsaver for years, all my two stroke trannys. Probably change it after 3 or 4 good hard rides on the bike...never got sticky or nasty on me... Then again, I warm up the bike then drain it....as you're supposed to. Quote
csrmel Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 i awalys chuckle when i read about people who run those expensive oils. i run some $2.34 a quart castrol atv oil. Quote
dajogejr Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 Personal preference... Whatever works for you, works for you... I recently switched from years of Maxima Super M to Klotz R50.... Quote
