sheefreak Posted November 7, 2006 Report Posted November 7, 2006 This is something you may want to read to help you make a decision on which oil to use. It is the best writeup I have seen on 2-stroke oil. Read Backcountry's first post. He is a very reputable builder who is more than happy to share information and always testing something. Here's a link. http://www.planetsand.com/ubbthreads/showf.../0/fpart/1/vc/1 Quote
yamahaD4L Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 have had my shee for 2 years and no prob with ams 100:1. the prier owner also used 100:1. cant say i didnt call him stupid when he told me that but figured id try it myself. so far no bang, doesnt overheat, and run in the sand quite often. i agree its all a personal preferance. Banshee_LE Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 Amsoil Dominator 32:1 for 3 years here with no problems! Quote
BANSHEEPRO Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 I have been using Amsoil for three years. The old name was Series 2000, it was changed to Dominator. I run it at 50:1, it burns clean and doesn't leave a lot of deposets on the piston. The 100:1 is for two stroke lawn mowers, weedeaters, chainsaws, etc, small twostrokes. I have never used the gear oil. Because, my opinion here, synthetics are suposed to be slicker and that would make the wet clutch slip. I run strait old F type ATF, its cheap and makes the clutches grip. Been running it about the same time as the Amsoil. Never burnt up a crank or blew up a trans so that is just my two cents here. THIS IS RIGHT LISTEN TO US FORGET THAT 100;1 CRAP DOMMINATOR @ 50:1 AND PLAIN OLD ATF THATS IT Quote
ziegman Posted November 11, 2006 Report Posted November 11, 2006 Running Dominator here from back when it was called series 2000. 50 to 1 for over 3 years, no top end rebuilds needed on any of my bikes and not a single fouled plug in 3 years!! Must be doing something right. Never tried ATF though. Quote

ojcool Posted November 12, 2006 Report Posted November 12, 2006 i awalys chuckle when i read about people who run those expensive oils. i run some $2.34 a quart castrol atv oil. And what exactly do you base this off of? BTW I have from a reliable source that the man who started this thread owns a strawberry shortcake lunchbox. Quote

Besides, I'm sure he has spent countless hours at the sylvin learning center researching the properties of castrol weed wacker oil. You know thats not really a lab coat they give you, it's one of your dads old button down shirts you put on backwards.... My teachers used to call it a smock. Quote
