Ben, both my carbs have that little jet. They say 1.4 also. I have a '00 shee, so maybe they don't have separate bowls anymore.....
-
I'll be there....
-
Depends on your elevation...128 at sea level and drops at higher elevations....A 20 cc dome will bring it up about 30 psi...
-
Start w/ a 180 main at about 60 degrees out. If your colder like around 30 degrees out now , then go to a 185 main and do a plug check at wot in 6th gear....let us know how you make out w/ the fine tuning.....
-
I had to go up 2 sizes w/ my Pt mids...maybe 3 sizes for a high rev pipe....let me know if you do it and how much you had to go up...
-
Check the compression and see if both cylinders read the same, they should...have you done a wot test to see if your mains are dialed in correctly???Could save you a top end....
-
agreed...
-
Cannondales run pretty strong out of the hole. Depends a lot on the rider and how much distance..the first 500' is in the rider, after that the shee will take it...
-
Start w/310 mains, needle stock postion, and try the stock pilot and adust the air screws for throttle response..let us know how that works...
-
If your riding in 20 degree temps in the winter and 80 in the summer then your looking at 2-3 sizes....If 290's are perfect for summer, the I'd go 300's for fall and 310 for around 30 degrees out...320 for 10 degrees out....might like the richer needle, might not....try it out....
-
Start w/ 330 mains, needle 4th clip from the blunt end, 30 pilots, and adjust air screws to throttle response....
-
I'd start w/ 175 mains, needle in the middle clip, and 38 pilots and adjust the air screws to what the shee likes...if the motor revs higher as your adjusting the air screws, then your shee is liking it. Find the best setting and let us know where it is. It should be between .5 turns out to 2.5 turns out...If it likes to be 2.5 turns or more than try a smaller pilot, if it likes to be .5 turns out or less then try a larger pilot....these will also affect throttle response, so if the idle doesn't change, then adjust to throttle response...

Jetting? Uh..... Where To Start
Banchetta replied to zr2highrider2001's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
I agree w/ everything that Ben said, exept I'd go richer on the needle. Try a leaner setting and a richer setting and determine which is better. You should notice more low end pull and powerband kicking in at a lower rpm...You also might want to take the cover completely off on the air box. Makes a huge difference. If you ride in mud a lot, then cut the last 1.5" off the end of the lid so you still have all 4 clips....this is almost as good as no air box lid at all.....good luck and let us know how you make out... -
You can screw it to the air box, but I'd still consider buying the flange...you might want to silicone the stock flange before screwing or bolting it on...the air screws are up to you...you have to decide where the best position is for throtte response...just do both sides evenly..you might want to go up a few sizes on the mains also....try a 250 and do a plug check..

Oil Spitting Out Spark Plug Threads And Pipe
Banchetta replied to jasonsb's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
What kind of pipes are you guys running?? I've never seen that....just curious.. -
Well, these are only guestimates to get you somewhat close. You still have to dial it in after. Every shee is different depending on area and shee....Put some 300's in her and run it wot in 6th gear for 5-10 seconds, shut it down, coast to a stop, pull the plugs. This is how you adjust the mains and only the mains...Black is rich, brown is perfect, tan or white is lean....I'd try the stock pilot first and adjust the air screws to them..the air screws fine tune the pilots. You should notice a better throttle response. Start at .5 turn out from seated, and ride it. Now try it at 1 turn out from seated and ride it...try it at 1.5,2, and 2.5. Find the best position.....If your shee starts hard, the you might want to try a larger pilot (27.5) and readjust the air screws. Determine which pilot is best for YOUR shee....You might notice the throttle response better or worse w/ the larger pilot....Once you get that done, then try raising the needles by lowering the clip on them, you should notice night and day differences w/ the needles. Find the best position, you might have to change them a few times at different positions...Good luck and let us know what you come up w/...

Whats The First Mod To A Banshee?
Banchetta replied to nickban8's topic in General Banshee Discussion
A lot of people on here have been getting Noss heads and really like them, quality, and service.... -
Maybe the gapping on the plugs wasn't right.....maybe one was almost fouled or was....the carbs could be out of sync causing one side to run rich and foul the plug at an idle for long periods of time...

Whats The First Mod To A Banshee?
Banchetta replied to nickban8's topic in General Banshee Discussion
TORS=throttle override system Its basically the stock computer that stops the motor from revving when the throttle is stuck wide open. Eventually they fail and makes the motor do different things like not rev out or no spark....some people will also call the carb tops the tors.....To disconnect them, disconnect the parking brake switch on the handlebars and follow the wire towards the gas tank to a wire connector, Disconnect it. There is also a little black box above the left exhaust w/ a 3-wire plug, disconnect it.. Mods: K&N w/ flange and air box mod Pipes to YOUR riding style and terrain Cool head Shorter swingarm if your running knobby tires. All the power in the world is useless w/o getting it to the ground. A lot of people on here cut and reweld the stock swingarm. Do a search, good info. Boysen petals +4 timing key or adjustable plate This is what I'd suggest to anyone to start w/ then keep reading and learn on here. There is a ton of info.....Your shee won't even be close to the same w/ just these mods.. -
I shave every pound I can. I've got my shee down 50lbs now. Still looking for more weight to shave....My shee full of gas weighs 376lbs w/ 4 ply tires..
-
Vents are worthless, take the lid off or cut it. You have to try different settings on the air screws. Can't tell you where, every shee in every area is different.... Start at .5 turn out from seated and ride it, then try 1 turn out, then 1.5, 2, and 2.5. Let me know what the best setting is.
-
My stock exhaust weighed 28 lbs for both sides, headers and silencers. My Pt mids weighed 14lbs...
-
Their latest technology. The sst's are supposed to have just as much top end and more low end then the fatties. Personally, I think they do....
-
I got the plain ones and had them powdercoated silver, the poweder coat was only rated for 400 degrees and peeled by the cylinders. I wish I did the chrome....
-
They all give a lot of hp, its where you put it. Read up, there is a lot of info on this.
