Several times over the last week I have been on the forum and it has stopped responding. Anyone else notice something like that?

The idea with the vinegar is that it works under the same principle as cleaning a coffee maker or a steam vaporizor. The vinegar breaks down the deposits that have formed from the water running through it. Check out the following link for some more uses of vinegar. http://home.howstuffworks.com/uses-for-vin...ur-house-ga.htm

I have also read that it is good to flush the system with white vinegar by running for a few minutes with the vinegar after draining the original coolant to dissolve any buildup in the cooling system and then flush with distilled water before adding the new coolant.

I would agree with that.

From Wikipedia: Distilled water is water that has virtually all of its impurities removed through distillation (boiling the water and re-condensing the steam into a clean container, leaving contaminants behind). Deionized water (DI water or de-ionized water; also spelled deionised water, see spelling differences) is water that lacks ions, such as cations from sodium, calcium, iron, copper and anions such as chloride and bromide. This means it has been purified from all other ions except H3O+ and OH?, but it may still contain other non-ionic types of impurities such as organic compounds. This type of water is produced using an ion exchange process. Deionized water is similar to distilled water, in that it is useful for scientific experiments where the presence of impurities may be undesirable. BTW, what do you have against bananas?

I agree. I personally run Amsoil Saber at 80:1 (it is 100:1 oil) and have been for two years. I have had no problems at all. You have to do what you are comfortable with. Yamaha is of course going to have you use Yamalube at 20:1 to cover their asses and to sell more oil!

If you do a search you will see this has been talked about a lot. Stock vs. stock the YFZ450 is faster if you have similar riders on each.

Just got a banshee very hard to start
Dark Ranger replied to 03sheerider's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I agree. Check the carbs. They could just need cleaning or they may need a little more work, but cleaning usually helps. Another thing is to make sure the tube that connects the to carbs is securely in place. Also, is the climate in your area different than where you bought it from? If the elevation and temp are different your jetting could be way off. -
k&n powerlid with k&n cone filter
Dark Ranger replied to Flanagans twin's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I was thinking that might be the case. I know I don't clean my filter very often either (about every six months), but I only get to ride once or twice per month. The filter (the outerwear mostly) will be dirty, but like you said, the inside is clean as can be. -
k&n powerlid with k&n cone filter
Dark Ranger replied to Flanagans twin's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Those look pretty cool but it could mean twice as much filter cleaning. The lid might keep the other filter from getting dirty though. Anyone notice if that is the case? -
My brother had a 200x for a few years that I rode a couple times. It was a fun bike (not like a Banshee though) but I prefer 4 wheels to 3.

Damn, I keep forgetting to repack mine. I have had them for 7 - 8 years and have never repacked them. Maybe I'll just take the packing out since I also have the Hush Kit.

I agree, but remember that sounds can travel in odd ways through a motor. I had a mechanic at a stealership tell me he was positive it was piston noise. He couldn't have been much farther from the source and still been in the motor. I agree that he should check what is easiest first though, but doen't rule out that it is caused somewhere else.

Mine made a ticking sound like that once. It was caused by the idler gear behind the kick start gear. It had lost a tooth (because of an earlier incident) so evey rotation of that gear made a ticking sound.

Extended Swingarm (How Long Should I Go)
Dark Ranger replied to BIGDOGDADDY's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Just out of curiousity, how much do you charge for a +4. -
Sounds like a good idea. Usually the only time you can trust the work that gets done is when you do it yourself.

I have been running a 2" swingarm extension for about 5 years and have had no problems with it. I even bought it second hand so it only cost me $25 instead around $200, which I think is what I have seen them advertised for. If I had to pay full price I would have just got an extended swingarm instead but it was a good deal.

I would think you could replace the helicoil. Just make sure that when you remove the old one that you clean the threads really well (you don't want any oil on them) and then apply the right amount of Loctite before installing the new helicoil. In my experience a helicoil that is done correctly can be as strong or stronger than the original threads.

5 speed banshee Possible?
Dark Ranger replied to Hollister_Hitman's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Gear it down a little, increase your compression ratio (smaller domes), and install a single carb kit. Those things make a big difference in riding trails and in the woods. At least they did on mine. In any case, play around with some combinations and you will find something you like without having to tear the engine all the way down. -
My prayers are certainly with your daughter and your family. I certainly hope your daughter makes a full recovery soon. Keep us posted on her progress.

I chose the Clark tank for my Banshee. I think it looks the best and I like the fact that it has vents for warm air coming off the radiator. It is also 5.5 gallons. Clark Banshee Tank

His avatar is what is called an Isometric Illusion if you actually want to know. I have always found them quite interesting. If you really didn't want to know or care, sorry.

Aw, it's too much work to sell stuff. You should just give it to me. I'll even pay for the shipping. Seriously, it is a nice looking quad. You should not have any problem selling it. It is hard to sell for enough to make up for what you put into it, but consider it money that was well spent for the fun times you had with it.

How about things that go 'Bump' in the night?

Sweet! I like that color scheme.
