  1. I'm kind of in the same boat right now. I am going to need to replace most if not all of these components. Price is definately an issue, but I don't want this to be a "get what you pay for" type of thing. I would like to save some money, but if I'm going to replacing my replacement components in a year I would prefer to just buy the right part up front.
  2. It's not even the cost, you're talking about two different types of motors. I will take on ANY cub motor in the trails. I climb hills from a crawl in 3rd gear with out ever touching the clutch. I have never ridden a Cub, but the port timing of it doesn't lend itself to a motor that would ever pull like mine down low. Cubs are unbelievable motors, but they are built for a loosely specific purpose. My motor will never rev like a Cub or even be in the same ballpark for top end. As far as a fireroad/dune/drag motor, dollar for dollar it probably has no equal, but to tell some body that RZs aren't worth it is idiotic. I've had two very good builders build both my motors, so the builders may have something to do with how they run. I'm glad you race RZ's, but it's a different type of racing.

Yeah, now I'm confused too. I have both. Which one are you looking for?
  4. I'll get in line for those. I am on my second RZ jugged motor. My current is a little bit more than stock, but without a doubt try it if you don't mind some rewiring.
  5. I think after all these posts to scrap the Vito's parts, give a builder a call and get set up with a 4mil cub and be satisfied with 90+hp. If I didn't trail ride so often, that would be my move right now.
  6. It should start getting nice around May.
  7. I wish I would have seen this earlier. It's supposed to be real nice next weekend, maybe I will try then, have fun.
  8. Let the shop that'g goin to bore them tell you what the cylinders will need to become round again. Only bore when you "HAVE" to.
  9. Not as long as it isn't a stroker. Long rods themselves are just drop in with the right pistons. Long rod strokers are completely different.
  10. I think you will save money and go faster with a Cub, but that's just what I think.
  11. Do you have any info on that. Price, manufacturer, what is needed to install? Thanks
  12. Stan, I'm sure I can't afford it, but PM me a price on that one if he doesn't take it.
  13. I agree on the RZ jugs. My motor is an RZ based plant, 4 mil crank, 12 port grinding and head cut for 110 octane. V-force reeds, 30mm carbs and a set of Rocket pipes. I was running PTR mids which ran the same down low on these jugs and the Rockets really let it rev high. I ride trails all day long in 3rd gear. I rarely shift and it pulls hard as hell from idle up.
  14. Good luck, especially running Trinity motors
  15. Hell, I have one of Jims 12 port 4mils in my RZ motor and run a -2 swinger. It works great. I have been in the sand with Rodney, Banchetta and myself all with -2 swing arms, except for drag racing, they were great.

I can get some pictures on Friday.

I've got one, light rust but nice shape otherwise. $40 shipped
  18. I'm only about an hour from you. What kind of work does it need. I'm interested in a quad for my wife.
  19. I had this same issue when I built mine. I had trannies from both bikes. I ended up using the Banshee clusters with RZ shift forks and drum. THe RZ clusters have weird jumps that probably worked fine on the street but leave you either shifting to often or not being able to keep it up on the pipe. Jim built my 4mil RZ motor and this thing screams, but the RZ jugs are a whole hell of a lot easier to ride off the pipe.
  20. Sorry about that, I didn't realize I got the email. That email was huge, let me know if you want an specific ones posted.
  21. And nothing else? Happy Birthday Stan
  22. Depending on port work 55ish.

I've got one off a 97 or 98. It came from a running bike, $40 shipped. I do guarantee it will work of I'll refund your money. I have nothing to test it off of but it worked when the motor was pulled apart.
  24. Leaving, not left.
  25. I agree with the above two posts, you are either giving the motor too much air or not enough fuel. Could be a clog in the fuel, A leak anywhere, have you done a leak down and compression test. 4 rebuilds in two years? Something isn't right. A hone and new piston really doesn't constitute a rebuild to me, that's just shining a turd. How are the tolerances for 90 over rings? How does the bore look, is it still round. I think this may come down to something other than fuel/air issues. You're top end might need to go 100 over or become a paper weight. I know it's not the opinion you wanted to hear, but it's another poosibility. If you could punctuate that post even slightly, it would be a whole shit load easier to read.
