drain the coolant and fill it with straight water... its also a good idea to drain the gas and fill the tank with water. turn your petcock to on and let the carbs fill with water as well.. this will help to ensure easy starting once spring rolls around. ive also heard to drain the tranny oil and put diesel in there.. but i cant verify whether or not thats helpful.

word, thats the best route.. if you dont have calipers use a tape measure and then convert the inches to mm..

are the teeth on the basket grooved?? if so, replace it with a billet unit. magnum makes a good one. FAST sells them for about 150 i think..
