Not a problem at your elevation with .030" off. You should run around 145-150 PSI on a healthy motor. And yea, Deuce had it right at 20, but I torque the cylinders to 22, and the head to 22. Anything higher, and you risk pulling the studs out.....

And then it sucks even more after that happens. In NY, it is illegal for an insurance company to drop you. They HAVE to offer you some kind of insurance. It is usually at an astronomical rate. I had the windshield shatter in an '82 Toyota pickup. (damn 3rd gear WOT launches got the better of it....) and after they replaced it, they sent me a cancellation notice. BUT, they did offer me, like thay had to by law, insurance. Except instead of the $800 a year full coverage i was paying, they wanted $3200 per 6 months of LIABILITY ONLY coverage. That's $6400 a year. I told them to take a flying f*ck on a rolling donut. And then went to progressive. Much much cheaper. Now I am with Allstate. Since I got married, things are much cheaper. Also, I wil never carry collision coverage on anything I own. Nor will I carry theft. Believe it or not, it wll cost you the same in the long run insurance premium wise if you crash up your 1976 Datsun, or you crash up your 2003 BMW into a busload of Nuns. The insurance company rates things 2 different ways. look up your record, and you will see. (This is in NY, I don't know how it is elsewhere) Either a claim $1,000 and uunder, or a claim over $1,000. So, you could have a $1200 accident, or you could have a $100,000 accident, and on paper in your insurance "score", it all looks the same. Kind of bull shit if you ask me. Now, I ma sure that some knob will jump in here, (usually an insurance salesman) to tell me I am wrong. Well, I had several friends at State farm insurance. And I have several friends in other companies. I have seen the records, and that is how they are written up. You get a record of your liscence, (record of convictions) and then a record of accidents and claims. Now, there is also a PIAO, (Personal Injury Auto Accident), and one without injury. THose are noted. But, the plateau is $1,000. What do you think about that?

They won't pay to have the data recovered. Our company is el cheapo!!! Friggin bums. They won't even get me a new laptop, or even a desktop. So, I just keep chiseling new programs out of stone, and whittling parts out of wood. Someday..........

You have no idea!!!!! And also, I was Emailing you when my computer locked up for the last time. I remember it vividly, because it was a PITA going back and forth to copy the body of your PM to paste in the email, and also cut and paste your email addy. And then, it locked up, and wouldn't re-boot. Junk. Kaput.... Hopefully it is all better now....

Man!!! I know what you mean. I still have a 386 laptop, complete with an 8" monochrome monitor. YEEEEHAWWWW I still have to use it once in awhile. And yes, back the old ones up there Stan. I just lost 4 years worth of ACAD drawings, changes, modifications, everything I had. GONE. Programs. Motion control programs for 8 axis machines. Gone. It's all gone. My fault for not backing it up,. but it is the companies fault for not providing anything to do it with.... Too little too late.... This computer isn't much better than a 486. It's still running Win 98. It's a POS.

Red loctite and aluminum do NOT mix. if you use Red, you can almost bet on the threads in the aluminum being torn out if you ever need to remove them. Go blue..... But I don't quite know what you are trying to loctite in there????

04LE, lean condition will not cause it. BUT, it may contribute, and sort of to speak, "add fuel to the fire". You had a problem with detonation. Alot of above mentioned factors can cause this. Now, on the too hot of plug thing, what happens is that when you run too hot of a plug, the plug doesn't shed the heat in time, and it remains to hot. Now, you compress the mixture, and the plug is still sitting there, hot as hell. It pre-ignites the fuel. This creates a shock wave called "spark knock". It happens because the fuel is burnt prematurely, and you hear the shock wave as a "ping". Not good. THis builds alot of pressure. he fuel explodes before TDC, and as the piston is still travelling up, the explosion is trying to push it down. That's where the hole usually comes from. Now, oln the question as to one side or the other, it just depends where the factors are present at the right time. SLightly lean jetting will contribute to failure when pre-ignition is also present. Heat and detonation are killers....

A dime is about .050" thick. So, prolly not good to use it.... Better to take 4 or so "C" hairs and use them. A hair is about .004" thick....

Man oh man!!!! I just got my computer back from our IT guy. As some know, I don't even own a computer. But, my work laptop, is the one I use. And, on Thurs. morning, when i was writing a program for a new machine her in the shop, it decided it didn't like me anymore, and crashed. BIG time. Lost the entire thing. Hard drive lost it's partitioning or something. Everything was lost. Unretreivable. And the kicker, NOTHING was backed up. It was never brought up as an option. So, there I was. No HQ, No E-mail, not a damn thing for almost 6 days. Sorry to the numerous folks PM'ing me that didn't get replies untill now. And to the people that sent their stuff to me and didn't get tracking #'s right away. It is all better now. New hardrive. Back in business!!!! So, back to programming and tuning I go.......

Wet clutches exhibit this problem on initial startup. it's the nature of the beast. Once warmed up though, it should go away. Now, if you put it in gear, and you can't stop it from moving, then that's a problem....

Figured Out What Was Wrong With My Tranny

WOW!!!!!!!! That sucks!! I had a similar experience when I replaced my crank. I had 4 gears that were all chewed up. The tranny never made a peep that something was wrong.... -

I'm thinking along the line of pipes....... Used. And ten you can get the flywheel lightened and machine the head. It will be an animal!!!!!!! -
I run Hella 500's on my bike with a Ricky 200W stator. Let me tell you about light!!!!! There are no more worries than stock lights in the breaking department. They have been whacked by everything.... Still fine....

Good God man!!!! A beam torque wrench is $20 from Sears. Get one. I actually just bought a 3/8" microtork Craftsman for the lighter torques. 25-250 in/lb. I have my 1/2" microtork for 25-250 ft/lb. No comparison for a torque wrench. SOme things can be gotten away with. Liek the flywheel nut. The flywheel is on a taper. It takes alot not to tighten that properly. but a head, or the cases, you need to tighten that shit evenly. That';s the point of a torque wrench. Not the proper torque, but that each bolt is tightened the same.........

So what are you gonna buy her??? -
Sounds like an air leak or a cclogged jet. Did you do a leakdown test? The choke tube would be the first place I would look. It is commonly overlooked....

What Size Nut Is Needed To Make A Tool To Remove
boonman replied to chase73's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
30mm is the wrench size. It is the measurement from flat to flat. I don't know what size bolt it is though. But, i do know that a 3/4" bolt is very close. Get ya a bolt, and a nut, weld them together, and presto.... -
LISTEN UP!!!!!!!!!! Ski season is almost over. Get a top end kit, and pull the cylinders off. Have them bored and honed at a local shop. Bring everything up to my house. We'll pull the rest of it apart, and check the crank. True it and weld it up. Put it back together. You load the motor back in the truck, and your on your way. And you will be able to do it next time....... I know you can't bring the beers, and I can't be contributing to the delinquincy of peeps. But, bring the motor up, and we'll take care of it..... Don't get raped by the stealer......

I just tighten it down. I am a human torque wrench..... Seriously, I would just put the wheel on, and torque it to about 65.... Edit:: Lose the friggin caps. There is a caps lock key. turn it off..... That shit is ever annoying.....

Wiseco. Forged pistons are the only way to go. Just let the bike warm up a little before every ride, and you will not have a problem....

Yep. I want a pick of her, her toys, and her divorce papers. She must have settled that one recently........ And were you drinking again? Or were you sober when you deemed her "cute". -
Have her sign it, and go to the DMV with all the required paperwork. As a matter of fact, get down there right now, and ask the clerk what papers you need to change a title over and registration over. Get all the paperwork, get it all signed by her, and it wll be fine. They won't suspect a thing. And once the thing is in your name, sell it, and buy a different bike. If you want. If not, then keep it, ride the shit out of it, and when shitstain gets out, f*ck him up....

They are in the service manual, which EVERY BANSHEE OWNER should have in their possession. I would also check for loose or dirty connections..... And clean the carbs. you may have a clogged jet. it sounds to me as though you have problems with the bike, and yet haven't really twisted a wrench on it. Is this the case? You can have all the desire in the world to fix something. But, you actually have to get your hands dirty.......
