hardly any legit people in dis biz. almost have to make the parts yourself. thats what i started doing
-
what claude said
-
if it ran fine last year then its just clogged jets from sitting
-
newer mikunis r decent but its hard figuring out the needle numbers. otherwise theyre good carb imo. ive got one and like it but i didnt have to start from scratch sorting it out. if there was more tuning info readily available i think it would give keihin a run for its money but lack of info hurts it
-
ill b damned. never knew trick1 was in oregon. they ever get that cr500 twin runnin ?
-
dremel with sanding barel would work for the brass if u have one. otherwise maybe some 80grit by hand
-
the basket should spin free of the trans shaft/clutch hub. not sure if thats what your asking
-
theyre probly just casting marks. otherwise oil would be pouring out. some fellers grind all the marks smooth so theres no chance to develop into cracks later on
-
since we have no idea what steels r being used in any of these cranks, i think its hard to say which is better. if tdr is still around maybe he could chime in. maybe he could give us info on the rods as well
-
if u do any research on cranks it seems to be a toss up for which type is better (billet vs forged). the reason a crankworks billet is more popular is likely because other cranks have sketchy qaulity with sketchy materials and theyre made in some third world asian country which doesnt inspire much confidence https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.hotrod.com/articles/0710phr-crankshaft-tech/amp/

Bearing sizes numbers not parts numbers

honestly i would get a clymer manual and dig in. horizontal split crankcase r easy to rebuild. -
anybody that was somebody bought a boat and moved on with life

koyo, ntn, skf, ina. u cant go wrong with any of these. boss bearing looks like it might b cheaper taiwan stuff but maybe im wrong is your bike still together and thats why u cant get the numbers ? -

is motion industries a distributor where u can buy what ever brand u want ? out of town but might b able to get u the numbers when i get home in a few days. ebay vendors usually have good prices also. thats where ive got mine in the past -
not sure how its done but somebody ut gif of putine tits. been few other gifs if i remember. seems one was locogato with bobble head drag racing haha
-
ya appears lancourt went tits up . havent had plating done for about 2yrs so im a bit out of the loop i guess
-
i hear what your saying. however its unlikely the neighborhood machine shop is setup to mess with small plated cylinders, even if he did clean the smeared stuff himself, assuming it wasnt worn to the aluminum. had it been just a small smear then i would agree to clean it himself but this shouldnt require honing. the plating is typically just a couple thousand thick and best left alone if at all possible. not saying it cant b honed but honing it just for the hek of it seems like a reckless move imo langcourt claims 5dy turn around. not sure what milleniums is. cylinders can always b fixed. ya sometime it might not b cost affective if it was catostrophic failure. after seeing the photos i wouldnt bother trying to clean it. doesnt look to be any damage except the plating is smeared beyond belief . if the other cylinder checks out good then he should b fine plating just the one side
-
why does he have to ask anybody. just send them to millenium and they will fix them up like new. theres also other places like langcourt in alabama that likely does as good or better than millenium. one problem i c is the studs look like theyr corroded into the cylinders. becareful u dont bust one off trying to remove it. if u put antiseize or loctite it will keep the corrosion away
-
lets get jt here . he will tell u whats up
-
wow there sure is alot of bullshit on the net. some clown on a rc airplane site says the oversqaure will meen smaller crankcase and thus more efficient pumping at higher revs. smaller crankcase will have higher peak pressure and thus more pumping loss. i believe that would be no different than pumping loss that happens as compession ratio goes up
-
mechanically , the further oversqaure, the better it would lend itself to higher revs. we see it in f1 like has been said. but u seem to not be able to understand 2stroke doesnt work in the same way. the further over sqaure u go, the larger the difference between port area of sqaure vs oversqaure. bottom line, oversqaure ends up with less port area, the further it goes away from sqaure. it doesnt make a fuk of difference if mechanically the engine is safe to 40k rpm , if it cant breath then its all for nothing. sorry if i cant explain it easier than that
-
im sure u could make a valid arguement for each side of the fence (oversqaure, sqaure, undersqaure) but at the end of the day sqaure is generally regarded as the best compromise in hiperf 2stroke. mechanically ,oversqaure may b better suited to high rpm but u lose valuable port area (breathing ability) vs sqaure,/undersqaure. i think the main problem with undersqaure , although it may breath well, u may end up with excessively high piston speeds which could limit rpm , perhaps it may have more friction loss also
-
the ports get wider (more area) with bigger bore but not at the same proportion as longer stroke years ago some of the 250 were sqaure. why theyre undersqaure now seems kind of a mystery. ive talked to knowledgable people about it but theres mostly just speculation for answers. maybe it gave a favorable powerspread. maybe chassis handling was better. a email to one of the bike manufacturers might solve the mystery if u could get in touch with the right person i think the banshee stemed from a street bike engine so you would have to ask why did that streetbike need oversqaure. my guess is a more compact package. given the cylinders are sqaushed together also, this makes the most sense to me.
-
4strokes r diferent. larger bore means larger valves. 2stroke has valves (ports) in the wall. sqaure is the best compromise for 2stroke. most banshee r over sqaure simply because its cheaper and less machine work to go up in piston size that to use huge stroke cranks
