seems like ive reused cr5 metal head gaskets with alittle fipg and it worked fine. with 2cylinders the top decks have to be flat across the whole plane. im thinking you torqed the cylinders first and one was a bit crooked which made the head gasket leak. next time try dropping the cylinders on the case but dont tighten the nuts yet. put the head on and fully torq it. then torq down the cylinders. from my experience, metal gaskets work just as well as orings but no matter what head u use, the top decks have to be flat to each other

if your only rebuilding back to stock u could use hotrods but i would pull off the generic taiwan bearings and use the yamaha ones or nsk,skf etc. yamapartsnation.com has stock cranks for $418 and about $25 shipping which is probly your cheapest option

using the impeller to turn it sounds about right from what i recall. you might have 2 seals in there im not sure. how old is everything ? those parts rarely go bad but it might be worth installing new bearing and seal for piece of mind
-
there will be some resistance turning the shaft because the seals and maybe a tight fit of the bearing. from old memory of different bikes i took apart it seems like they could still turn by hand. been a while since i taken that stuff apart though

aluminum is a pain in the balls when its oil soaked. the crack is probly saturated along with the backside. if it were mine i would take it apart and clean the backside with acetone in all directions of the crack for several inches. do the same on the front side. V the crack and drill a small hole at each end of the crack so it doesnt take off when u lite up. a quick preheat in a oven isnt a bad idea either -

put that case saver in the trash. remove the chain. clean the area up real well and take another photo. jb is a bad idea that i wouldnt even consider. u need to eliminate the crack so it cant spread further. or get new cases. the photo is poor qaulity and i cant really see much -

the fitting is usually made specific on a cnc. home depot doesnt have it. ive got the fitting with marshall gauge and im removing it from one of my bikes probly next weekend and putting on a digital. ill sell it $30 shipped if your interested, seems like its 16mm id, 19mm od. marshall gauges r the best ones. most the others r chinese junk that leak the fluid out. one i got looks very similar to this https://www.ebay.com/itm/ATV-MOTORCYCLE-DIRT-BIKE-RADIATOR-IN-LINE-WATER-TEMPERATURE-GAUGE-BLACK/132771250093?hash=item1ee9c87fad:g:KHMAAOSwblZZGum4
-
i believe the upper one is 19mm id. bottom one i think is 19mm id also. although it flares to about 22mm id right at the end where it plugs into the water pump. pickup a trail tech digital 732-eh1 from ebay and u can mount it any where. i just made a small bracket and mounted to a tank bolt on the left side

for a cheap alternative they look fine to me. the main reason i wouldnt normally recomend using them is because they likely need the port windows and casting matched up better. this would cost extra on top of the cylinder price. at that point you might be able to find a decent set of factory jugs. just call around and weigh your options
-
theres usually some factory jugs on ebay. or check craigslist. the china jugs arent the best qaulity but if your porting them anyways, they would be fine. the main problem i seen with them is the sleeve didnt match well with the casting but if you port them it would all get matched up ,so none of that would be a big deal

tyler should buy planet sand and make it great again
