  1. I have never seen that happen like that or there, but I am curious what "bigred" meant by the kick starter mod?
  2. Dude, use a little bit of grammar in your post, I dont know about the other guys, but I thought you were trying to install a grease zerk in your carrier? Are you trying to do this, or replace your axle in your stock carrier? Lets start with this info first.
  3. You cant assume what type of riding hes doing! For a good all around chain in snow, sand, dirt etc.....you need a ringed chain, for riding where a chain will be replaced regularly or where their are no contaminants, a non ringed chain is fine.
  4. Yeah, I run nerfs and IMS pegs, I just want it correct. Im going to send the frame out for powdercoat soon, so I want it done before all that.
  5. Yeah, I wouldnt worry about the reeds yet. Do the top end first and buy a Clymers manual, it will help you immensely on your journey to becoming one with your machine, lol. Top end is pretty cheap to do, a little research and youll be off to the races. If reeds are needed after, buy a used /new set from one of the guys on here, theyll be way cheaper than from the dealership.
  6. Yeah, but the bolts are coming and I want them all to be the same size. Ive had enough of the bolts being a pile of mismatched rusty shit like the previous owner installed. Can I tap it and helicoil it? Will a helicoil even come this big, or will it hold me, Im 6'3" 210 lbs?
  7. I was taking my footpegs off to install new stainless bolts that are on the way, and I realized that the threaded part in the frame is holding the bolt very little, like it was stripped out in the past. Is there a safe way to redo this thread for a new bolt when it arrives? I do have a welder and a tap set, is it as simple as that?
  8. Loco once told me that keys keep honest people honest, and that I truly believe. I had my key fly out of the ignition once on the way to go riding, and luckily had my smartphone on me to access bansheehq when I got there to get the same info these guys are giving you. I have since had a tether switch installed, and clipped the loose end to my brake cable so it doesnt fly out. The tether will give you more piece of mind than the key ever did, believe me, lol. Heres the link to the one I bought http://www.ebay.com/itm/ATV-Engine-Kill-Switch-Tether-Yamaha-Banshee-350-87-06-/110724504728?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item19c7b1dc98
  9. Yeah, I built a bike for a good friend over last winter, and he asked me what to get me for doing it. I asked him to order me a set of bolts in stainless for the bike as a bit of payment. He had asked where to get it and I gave him that link exactly as you did Zilla. Where did you get those bolts for the footpegs though, they dont look like any type of regular head on them? Are they stainless?
  10. Great seller here guys, bought triple ported cylinders off him awhile back and they haul ass!
  11. Im looking for a kit that covers the banshee, as well, seeing as they dont come with them usually, Im looking especially for the lower rear shock bolt and nut, the upper a arm bolts and nuts, and the foot peg bolts, also all in stainless steel?
  12. So, if your bud broke a piston, where did the pieces go? If they went down inside, then your also talking about splitting the cases! SORRY! $500 is a frickin steal though, even if you gotta tear into the bottom end! While your in there, you might as well check the crank and bearings, the rod bearings etc, seals etc........just for safety!
  13. Yeah, OK, everyone says that! Seriously though, very nice job on the 250R!
  14. So was the bike rejetted for the winter, or did a leakdown test get done before it was ridden? That chunk out of the piston is usually caused by a lean condition. At least now youre going to learn a whole bunch more about the top and bottom end, cause that chunk went in only 1 direction...........the dreaded bottom end! Its best to buy the Clymers manual for the bike, along with this site, theyll be youre 2 best friends during the build. At least this way, youll get to see what bore your on, replace the seals and any bearings etc..... It could have been worse, it could have looked like mine.......http://s752.photobucket.com/albums/xx162/amidlifecrisis/Bashed%20piston/ Mine was a roller bearing that was later to have been discovered in the expansion chamber on my bike, and this happened on the first ride after a brand new top end and cool head install.
  15. Tearing down a bike that you just got seems a little extreme, especially for a guy whos just gonna want to ride. Spend 20 bucks and build a leakdown tester, and ensure their are no air leaks, and do all the basic stuff like cleaning the carbs, and filters, new gear oil and run with high octane gas etc.... That way youve got piece of mind for the basics anyway. When it blows up, theirs plenty of time to check whats inside the motor. You can be rest assured, it will eventually need a tear down for one reason or another. In the meantime, read a pile on here. It was the sole reason I bought my 2nd shee after almost a 20 year lay off. Enjoy the bike!
  16. You know, Ive never noticed that! I always go with the pump and what it says to be the truth, huh! Ill be watching for that next time esteral, thanks!
  17. Sounds similar to my setup, and Im mild at 20's in my Vitos hemi head. Good place to start though! I usually run pump gas 94 octane.
  18. Buy the Clymers manual for the bike, thats absolutely step #1. If your float bowls are set within tolerances from the Clymers manual, then their should be no gas leaking from the overflow tube, so start there. Do the same for your clutch plates. Get a set of vernier calipers and check the thicknesses of all of the plates though, dont just stop if you find one thats too thin.
  19. With my Vitos, I had to slightly mod the tabs on my head to make other dome brands work, but they work really well, and it gives other options. Not positive on the Hemi head II though?
  20. Im looking for a few parts for a buddy here in Ontario, Canada. Would you ship to here? Im also looking for a front end (a arms, tie rods etc...) Could you PM me with a phone number, he has no internet
  21. Good guy here fellas, bought from him in the past. Post up some pics!
