Are you sure jetting is good? Maybe post modjetting, elev. Check all connections are clean and tight. Ohm ALL components. Coil mount clean, bare metal or run seperate ground.
Did you take carbs completely apart, or do you call a quick douche ? The pilot and needle jet have tiny holes that must be clean. Not to mention passages in carbs. Then set floats.
Think about it for a minute. Guys part them out because they can get more for the collection of parts than complete bike. Conversely you'll pay more for a collection of parts than a whole bike. Do the math, go on Egay and start pricing ALL the parts and pieces and see how far your $$ goes. Prove me (us) wrong. Here ya go, this guy has everything you will ever need : http://stores.ebay.com/Motor-City-ATV?_trksid=p2047675.l2563
Pull flywheel and clean rust off stator poles. Clean timing nubs outside of flywheel. Set pic-up gap. Check ALL connections are corrosion free, tight, add dielectric grease. All grounds clean&tight. Coil mount bare metal, better yet is run seperate ground from coil back to motor. Trim 1/4" off plug wire, install cap with di-grease. Check switches have continuity when they should and none when they shouldn't.
Do you have any porting done to the engine? The flat spot might just be how that engine runs with drag pipes. If it were me I wouldn't run it with less than 50-50 race - prem. I won't give my thoughts as to you running it on reg gas. I don't think I'd run a stocker on reg.
Seems like you're still wanting to do a piece by peice build which will cost you WAY more than just buying a complete quad (like the red one)
Ground up is ok if you're doing a drag with all A.M. parts. You'll blow through that $4g a piece at a time and might still not have something to ride. Get that red one, sell the +6 swinger , get a stock length swinger, some good shocks, BAMM you're riding.
Why are you trying to reinvent the wheel?
OR do it your way and get back with us in a year or so when you finally collect enough parts (maybe)
JMHO, your results may and will vary. n
About how much ground clearance would I lose if shocks were 14 1/4" long? Smoking deal just came up for works remote resis. Still have to find out spring rate. If they're good guess could always get longer shafts.
Make sure nubs on flywheel are clean. Check gap at both nubs. Are carbs clean like virgin pussy or 8 mile hooker? Retorque after heat cycles? Even though new top end, what's the compression? What does the spark look like? Have you ohmed coil and plug caps? Check all connections? Clean bare metal at coil mount or seperate ground for it?
