  1. When you get the cyls, closely compare what you did to the new ones. Might learn what you did right, and what was off (not necessarily wrong)
  2. I know who my guess is.
  3. Basturd giving my hometown a bad name. Should go burn his house down.
  4. ^^^ sounds good. As Windy said, you might have already damaged it. Might want to read the sticky "What jetting is" and "What jets are you using" GL, let us know how it turns out.
  5. It is true that the bottle will crack the carb boots. I know first hand. Were starting to crack but not all way through. I just used some pvc caps that fit in, installed with 3bond and clamps. 300m would be a safe starting point and work your way down. 27.5p No clue how the fuck you do a plug chop/read on LI
  6. That's what my son and nephew did over by Luzerne. Droped gas at trail head on 72, and we took off from one in town. Just chained it to a tree out of sight. 40+ mile loop, don't know if they would have made it. Where's this trail at?
  7. well fuck me, Guess the kid needs to find some TC2s, oval sparkys, or bolt up the stock silencers. I really do apreciate all the straight forward answers
  8. How sharp/strict are they on spark arrestors? Have FMF silencers with SS drain screen. so it will pass the stick test. But do they look for the USFS stamp also? Does it depend who's at the gate? How they feel? Did they get laid last night? LOL Or should he just throw his stock silencers on and be safe? He's taking them no matter. Any other tips on having an easy entry in would be most welcome !! Thanks for all advice so far.
  9. Ditch the boostbottle, wtf have you been? Elevation and avg temps/humidity would help too.
  10. If you're looking for sympathy, you'll find it in the dictionary between shit and sypholis (spell check, type of VD) Go to E2S, I'd give you same answer in a week or so. Try Blue Fairy , I mean Blue Trax, nice family oriented joint, probably can't even say shoot or darn. Or just suck it up, grow a pair with some hair on them, and keep on truckin' . Ya, sometimes it does take a bit of skill to weed out the BS, but just consider the fun and challenge it supplies. Educate youself by getting a Clymers, or find the PDF download on here. Just start reading all the threads that come up that have to do with running problems. General Discussion, Repaires and Mods, Jetting and Exhaust. I looked through almost every post in "What jets are you running" and was near spot on when my son did some mods. I have read every post about YFZ 450 arms and with a little info from another site totally understand why they will never work even when they are hacked and yacked. Same with the shocks.
  11. Unported 4mil with head spacer FMF signature pipes stock carbs. 13/42 gears Easily pulls stock 20" Dunlops or 20" Kenda dominator or 22" mud lites on 2nd gear launch. Runs trails around Mio/Bull Gap 2nd-4th gear, rarely needs 1st. Will be running 20" 8p GBC straight paddles. Usually can hit 5th up Bull Gap. Should my son get 14t, 15t, or both, and see which he likes best? Because it being more open he feels he may want more top end. Never been to S.L. is why I'm asking.
  12. The pick-up coil is near flywheel, about 4 Oclock posistion. Gap between flywheel nub and pick-up coil. Really should investigate the difference in plug color. Dirty carbs, air leak, clutch side oil suckin
  13. Only suggested that because unsure how stripper would be on chrome. Good stuff is pretty nasty shit.
  14. I didn't even think he was that old.
  15. Where the fuck was I ?? Set float height. This is a very precise measurement. Measure from flat of carb body, not little raised rib.Measure between square end and round end. ( <Made those mistakes) While carbs are apart write down main and pilot sizes. List ALL mods. Type of air filter, no lid/lid w/wo snorkel. Etc. While you have carbs off you're halfway to doing a leakdown test, at least inspect carb boots for cracks, flex them to see. Be sure to install mainjet washer, main jet slosh baffle, and choke crossover tube. Come back when you have done ALL of this. Have you tried new plugs? Reguardless, clean and set your fuel system
  16. Some where near Flint, Mi. GL with sale !!
  17. Silly me, and here I thought all thought all the unicorns were on B. F. , with the "Sport Porter" cookie cutter How AwkWard is this? Zeig Heil
  18. Laquer thinner and a rag.
  19. Second time I have seen this ^^^ , maybe from you? Have 27.5 and seems to run good, but difficult to start at times. Might have to try this
  20. Intermittant problems can be the worst to solve. It sound like a fuel delivery issue. So we'll start with that. Fuel tank cap. Can you easily blow through the hose? When attacked to cap? Does the cap rattle when you shake it? (Roll-over anti-spill device, most people gut the cap) Remove fuel lines frm carb and place ends in one quart or larger glass jar. Fuel should flow at constant rate until jar is full. If not, tank/petcock is problem. Reguardless, clean petcock and fuel tank. You could reuse fuel if you strain it somehow. (Paper towel in funnel into clean container) Make sure your gas can is spotless too!! Fuel lines don't have weird dips or kinks? Next is carbs. They have to be spotless. Do one carb at a time as parts are different, but will fit in wrong carb. I prefer Berrymans carb dip to soak them. NO plastic or rubber in it though. Must completely dissasemble carb, pilot jet, air screw, choke, emulsion tube/needle jet, float needle valve seat must come out. Let each carb soak a good while, one hour or more each. make sure you can see through pilot jet, the wire from a bread bag tie works good for cleaning. Look in Jetting/exhaust forum, might be link for carb cleaning, if not U-tube JL sparky, I know he has a how-to. Clean float needle seat with white toothpaste and Q-tip, inspect O ring. I like to blow compressed air through ALL little holes/passages both ways (just to be sure). If you don't have a compressor, get a can or two of computer duster shit. Fuck, just lost half my reply Smoke time , bbl
  21. First off, if you want help, don't go pissing people off.
  22. Isn't this the mirical banshee that fixes itsself? Duh, unplugging the tors brain is the first thing you should have tried. Do a little searching and reading, you'll find a list of things to do and check. I don't feel ilke listing them all right now. Maybe someone will, dunno. But I will suggest a leakdown test and close inspection of the carb boots.
  23. IIRC it was only 7hp That being said, I have only once put a new piston in an old hoe. Still regret it, even though never had any problems. I think I would get a second opinion on the bore. They should be measured in six places. Front to back, side to side. Top, middle, bottom. That will tell out of round and taper. Have to admit that's a pretty economical kit. Slightly more than one Wiseco.
  24. Where did that nub go? Throuh the engine? Or does it go from outside in? I forget. Used set just came up cheep.
  25. Get rid of boost bottle. Check carb bootsfor cracks, you probably have an air leak on that side. Wouldn't hurt to do a leakdown test.
