They have clutches and shift levers for a reason. -
Not really, unless you want to unwrap harness and clip wires at harness. just tuck them out of the way making sure ends can't ground out. Make sure tors "brain" is unplugged, left frame rail by gas tank. 3 wire plug.

Don't recall who' but site sponsor recomended ground wire from coil to engine. Steel (frame) is not good conductor od elictricity. Might try that, and cleaning all connections/grounds.

You're saying you refilled trans and oil disapeared, again? If so, you also have a blown crank seal. Even if you don't, replace them when you fix trans.

Key only indexes the flywheel. Been runing offset key for 4 yrs, even survived a blown rod brg. Or you can modify stock plate and get 4*. 99% probably never change timing after setting it first time around.
