  5. Try swapping plug wires. Clean nubs on flywheel and set gap.
  6. When you do things to engine that could effect the "seal" of the engine you have to double check that you indeed fix it. If it can suck air anywhere but through the carbs, that's a major problem. When I did my son"s engine, I got tired of waiting after 12 hrs for it to leak a drop, LOL

  8. Pullin the choke is a quick and dirty way to check jetting. You made it sound like you were riding a while with it on. So were you?

  14. Drill the swing arm and carrier for grease zerk. Don't put zerk in exact middle of swinger, makes it a bitch to grease, shock is in way. Ask me how I know.
  15. Hopefully you replaced the 87 octain before going further. Have you ever or recently done a leakdown test? Plug read/chop? Been having "issues" with my son's recently not wanting to fire off on the right side when cold, in the Murder Mitten
  16. Which, is why you lap it, especially if it is a new/different crank or wheel. Takes a minute or two, then you know it's puuuurrrfect.
  17. This ^^^ is your problem. As Tricked has mentioned, IF you don't get it jetted closer before you ride it you ARE going to hurt it. Riding with the choke on if it were anywhere close to correct jetting it would be blubbering like a short bus rider. If someone with a simular setup doesn't chime in as to jetting, look in the thread "What jets are you running" Also, post your elevation and riding temps, or where you ride, kinda specific area.
  18. How do you know it was water vapor coming from cyl/plug hole ?? If it is truly a low hour rig you have two choices, ride as is or go all out, to an extent. As mentioned, sending off for porting this time of year, depending where you live, might not be back in time for spring riding. You would have to call to see what lead time is right now, then decide. Even porting or head mod/ cool head/domes should get welded crank. As mentioned, there is no easier case to split than a banshee.
  19. For shits and giggles unplug the fucking TORS "brain" , left frame right by gas tank.. Clean timing nubs on flywheel, set pick-up gap at BOTH nubs. Are jets Mikuni? or who knows what aftermarket/egay/chinese shit???

  21. Make sure fuel tank, pic-up screen, petcock, and fuel tank cap vent are all clean. double check float height.
  22. Problem is random issue will come back when you're 10 miles from nowhere. Make sure all connections are clean and tite. Double check ground at coil, must be clean, bare metal. figure out how to bypass switches in case it does happen in the middle of nowhere.
  23. Dollar says lean burn down on right cyl. Ever do plug check/chop after new reeds and pipes??
