  3. Well good to know it's not anyone I deal with in the north Detroit metro area.
  4. When you have head off, crank it to top dead center. Is the edge of the piston near to flush with the top of cylinder? If you went from a 4mil long rod to stock stroke short rod you lost 2mil for stroke and 5mil for shorter rod.
  5. We are poor boys running what was on it when we bought them. My guess would be most would either say Razors or hole shot. Maybe cruise the MX or XC forum and see what is on profiles or maybe do a search.
  6. Sounds like either the port wasn't champhered correctly or the top of exhaust port was to flat/straight causing ring to snag. Hope the builder stands behind it. If they don't , be sure to post , I wouldn't want to do business with them. hope it's no one I know ,
  7. So everything was new ? "Shop" did all work? Can you do squish before bud tears it down? Who cut the domes? Very good possibility that dome angle didn't match piston angle. Has he talked to the builder yet? Was the jetting recomended or approved by builder? If possible post pics of both pistons and both domes.

  10. Yes ,good wheel brg grease. Coat lip and shaft lightly. Give brgs oil if you cleaned them.
  11. Did you do just top end or were cases split ? Did you have tranny dis asembled? Check all bearings , look for any galling on gears, forks , or shafts. Take a close look at kicker idel gear bushing and bushing in clutch before you pull engine.
  12. If your jugs were ported for the 4mil ,they are now wrong for stock stroke. Did you change domes or remove spacer plates ? How do plugs look?

  15. Did quick scan of your posts ,one thing I didn't notice was if TORS is disconected or if you have parking brake saftey switch ? Also I think Iv'e read that the test procedure for coil is wrong , ohm thru both plug wires.

  17. On my son's 'shee I ended up pulling flywheel , cleaning poles on stator , lugs on outside setting p-up gap. Check your grounds. Might try trimming plug wires 1/4" reinstall caps. Double check wireing plugs. By chance did you wash it just before wreck?
  18. was it real low before change? look for leak at shifter ,sprocket , kicker , and look by clutch arm. All else fails, clean engine good and llok close. Could be gasket on drain plug.
  19. A lying P.O. ? NO !! How's coolant level in rad? Check that before you start tear down so if something caused the seize you'll be able to narrow it down.
  20. Take a good look in top of rad ,do you see gunk in the cores ? If not might want to check pump impeller.

  22. If you're asking if head gasket can be re-used , no it can not.
  23. Looks real good so far 9090. Is this a clean up port job or did you raise / widen any of the ports? Be sure to champher the exhaust and transfer ports so the rings don't snag. Tried sending you a PM yesturday and it wouldn't go thru. Be sure to post pics before you bolt it back together , and let us know how it runs when your done !!
