OK, just had some time to take a look and clean up the mess on the garage floor When I looked under the bike I saw some dripping from one of the tubes running from the bottom of the carbs. I also noticed that the petcock was in the RES position, usually I have it OFF when stored..its OFF now Im still a bit new to 2-stroke but im guessing that it was fuel mix keaking through the tube and onto the floor. Only thing is that the stuff on the floor was too thick to be fuel mix, its was really oily. Is it possible that it IS fuel mix and maybe the petrol evaporated to leave just the oil? This is what im guessing but would be could to get another opinion. I also checked the engine case and drain plug and it was dry, no leaks.

Did my first oil change about a week ago and today I found a fairly large amount of oil on the floor under the banshee. I did a quick check and the drain plug doesnt feel wet with oil but not 100%. When I filled it with new oil I think i may have overfilled a bit. I checked the level with the dipstick screwed in, now I know you need to check it with the dipstick NOT screwed in. Oil was a little above the line with the stick screwed in so maybe a bit too much oil. Could the oil on the floor simply be the excess that has overflowed from somewhere? is this possible? is there an overflow or a way the oil could escape if the level was too high? If its just too much I will syphon some off until its right.

Was just looking at the clymers manual and it say stock rear rims on the banshee are 9x8.5. Does this mean that whatever tyres I choose must have an inner diameter of 9" like 20x10x9? Sorry..just trying to figure out what all the dimensions relate to. Other than that im pretty sold on some paddles..will check out the v paddles but i like the haulers best at the moment.

Hi, I have seen lots of paddle threads but none for stock Bashees so I was wondering if I could run paddles on a stock bike with stock size wheels. I do have a couple of upgrades... FMF fatties, VF3 reeds and TORS removed Went to the local shop and they said I wouldnt be able to run paddles and that I should use snow type tyres instead but im not really liking those much. I mostly just do duning, no drags, weight about 170lbs. Could I get away with some 8 paddles? Whatsize would I need exactly? Thanks.

what do i need to get rid of my twist though. I found out where the dealer is and can get oem parts.what do i need. stock thumb throttle and thumb throttle cable? will that be enough to work with carbs that have had the TORS removed? Am a bit of a newb to the banshee so need a bit of advice. cheers..

Hi, I picked up a Banshee with a twist throttle and dont like it. What would I need to switch back to thumb throttle? Do I just need the parts/lever that goes on the bars or also new cables and anything that attaches to the carb end? The bike has a tors removal kit on it if that matters. Cheers

Fitting AC Racing Race Black-Line Pro Pegs

Thanks guys.Got the bike back from the shop. They drilled out the broken bolt and put the nerfs on for me. I can see the nerf is hard up against the engine mount bolt but it should be ok i guess. I imagine the just put everything on loose and tightened it up all around and pulled everything into place. Glad to have them on though, they look good and much better heel protection than my old ones. -

Im getting there.. just found that one of the engine mount bolts that need to be replaced with a longer bolt for the nerfs to attach is seized. Gonna take it to a shop and get it drilled out. Tried it myself but my cheapo drillbits didnt even leave a mark. Hopefully by Saturday ill have these things fitted! -

Hi, thanks for the replies.I treid again tonight but same problem. I took a couple of pics and you can see where the head of the bolt for the bottom engine mount is in the way and stopping the nerf slide together in the frame. I cant see how this could be different on another banshee. maybe im doing something wrong -
Just got myself some AC Racing Race Black-Line Pro Pegs and tried to fit them tonight. All gone pretty smoothly except the nerf bar tube where it passes through the frame is touching the bolts head for the bottom engine mounts where they attach to frame. Infact I cant get the nerf bars through the frame 'cos the bolt heads are in the way. I plan to go to the hardware store and see if I can replace the engine mount bolts with some that have a shorter head on them. Anyone else run into this problem and fiind a fix. If new bolts with a shorter head on them is the only option what would i need size/strenght wise?

Im living in Dubai and with summer coming the quad biking season will be over soon (too hot!!).I was thinking of doing a rebuild during this time. I have only had the shee a few months and I picked up a clymers manual already. Is it really quite easy to strip everything down to the frame (for powder coating)? I guess stripping down is ok but putting back together could be more tricky. Could anyone outline the steps so i could get an idea. ie Remove fender, remove wheel, remove engine. just high level, not too detailed, more the better though

If your gonna use a power wash to cleanup do you need to cover up the air filters to stop the water entering. I was thinking to just cover them with a plastic bag. Thing is only option i have is to take it to a garage to let them clean it for me and they just blast everywhere. I do ask them not to get too close, about 4ft away. Should I cover up the filters before i let them loose on it?

Thanks for all the great replies. I will try moving the shifter up and see how I get on. Im glad to hear I didnt just waste a bunch of money on the wrong boots.

Hi Guys, I just got myslef a pair of Fox Comp 5 MX boots. As Im pretty new to the Banshee these are my first boots. I wasjust wearing nornal training shoes before and wanted some of these for safety/protection. So I gave them a try today but I could just not wear them. I cant get the boot under the shifter to go up the gears. Even shifting down is not easy as there is hardly and flex at the heel. Would like to know from the guys who have more experience with this type of thing... Have I bought the wrong type of boot, do they just need to be broken in or should i relocate the shifter so that it sits above horizontal? Thanks for any input!
