  1. Weigh them and see what the diff is. Cut your good piston to match the other. As far as that modification, it's something that Jennings talks about, it's to give the piston crown a little extra room to "grow" with the heat. Might want to closely mic both pistons, top, middle, bottom ,front to back, side to size. In the end it's your decision. You didn't mention that your buddy only had one good piston ,YO.
  2. A blond prepubesent one at that. In machinist's terms .001 or less. If you could see that differance you got eye like an eagle and dick like a beagle .
  3. That's what I was refering to. Maybe I'll try Ritt clothes dye. Can't be any worse than the ugly ass off-white it is now. Still wondering about the stripper.
  4. Have oversize tank with peeling paint, bought it cheap. Would paint remover melt the plastic? Just want to make it look better and maybe paint it. I am aware of the paint and gas problem.
  5. Now you need to get all your buds to by some stuff from JD.
  6. Rig something up to hold it by front and rear motormount and smack the clutch and output shaft with a dead blow. Don't whack the crank.
  7. One of the site sponsers rechambers and mills head for $80 about. Don't recall who, just clic on them. Timing plate is a good mod, sticky on how to do it yourself. Also change trans oil. Do a search, do not start a thread on which frigging oil do I need.
  8. It should explain in the Clymers manual how to adjust. Make sure you take the jets and everything else apart when you clean carbs. Blow them out before reassembly.
  9. Don't feel bad, I did the same thing a week ago Good deal reguardless.
  10. Use anti sieze on swingarm bolt where it goes thru sleeve and any other place simular. Shock bolt, a-arm bolts, linkage bolts. If you rebuild carrier install grease zerk and take seal off inward side of brg.
  11. What do your plugs look like? Wet? Got spark? Are slides in correct carb? The angled(cutaway) side goes towards air cleaner, they will fit in the wrong carb and be backwards. Do you have TORS on top of carb? Check wires might have bumped connections. As to the clutch, were you adjusting it at the pressure plate? Might have bumped the shift claw off the shift star. Do you have a Clymer's repair manual yet? As to taking it to a shop, I've seen more bad experiences posted than good by far .
  12. E-Gay or google motorctcle salvage. Eastern Michigan Cycle salvage , Yale,Mich. Good luck!!
  13. Rattle Can Ray strikes again. "Oh I use generic pictures" "My guy shipped the wrong one" " I'm Sofa King We Todd Did"
  14. Don't recall who else has J-arms but seems they were about $100 more than Stellar , just wish he would get his site back up.
  15. Just get +2+1 arms from Stellar and good shocks=done. Or might search e-gay for a kit, good luck with that.
  16. You have a contradiction of terms "sealed roller ball bearings". They are either roller or ball, not both. New vehicals are designed for cost and ease of assembly, not how good or how long it lasts. Think of the tapered roller as putting a TZ bearing for your axle. I presume twin is two rollers per side, better than stock, still not as good as roller. Two bearings same size the roller will have a greater bearing surface area thus greater load capacity and life. JMHO, your results may and will vary.
  17. Now I understand, slight language barrier/translation.
  18. First is tire diamater Second is tire width Last is wheel dia
  19. My son's shee has a 2mm thick solid copper head gasket, bought it that way. Don't know who made it, or if it's still available. Would be same as having stroker domes or stock head cut for stroker. Though some argue it creates another place for a leak, the advantage is that port timing will be near normal. With stroker domes timing will be delayed some what. If you need a crank i would get a 4mil , set it up either way, then get porting down the road. JMHO, your results may vary.

  21. Throw the air box lid back on and if it runs good leave it til it warms up a little, won't be long now. Just remember better rich than lean.
  22. If you have them throw them in, if not might still need them next winter.
  23. Any local shop should have them. Carb Parts Warehouse. Hell that kit doesn't even tell you what's in it. Most likely you won't need needles unless you get way deep into tuning or have a problem about half throttle. I think there is a sticky titled "what jets are you running". Go through that looking for a simular set-up and elevation. It will give you a good starting point. That way you can get what you need and not have useless parts.
  24. I'mnot a rocket sceintist but I dont think you use a head gasket with a cool head. List all your settings, pilot, main, air screw, slide needle.
  25. With you still riding in the snow, you might be a tad lean some where in your settings.
