This is an area we call "the green grassys".... cause there's rolling green grassy hills to rip around on. The coal companies made the hills and now they're covered with tall grasses. Theres a little S track here to screw around on.... S race track to zip around on.... Another of the track.... And one more picture, this is a shot of "Coal Hill"...

Here's a picture I took about 2 weeks ago, its near our camp and its looking out towards Shamokin. Everywhere you see is ridable.... This picture is about 2 miles west of the first picture, again looking towards Shamokin. These pictures sure make the place look ugly, and it is in alot of places but theres lots of wooded areas too. This picture is my son Alex sitting on top of an abandon coal shovel. There's old abandon mining machinery everywhere..... Here's Alex on a nasty rocky hill climb.... he just had to climb to the top of it. Halfway up... Alex made it to the top... Here's the road that takes you to coalfest base camp.... The "mile" water hole. This is a man made lake thats aproxx a mile long, it was made when the miners dug a trench, hit an underground water supply and it flooded the trench. They say the mile is around 80 feet deep. This picture is taken at the uglier west end and its looking towards Shamokin. There's about 10 more large man made lakes like this one found in the strippins.... Its a great place for a swim.

the area is pretty big i guess, the town of shamokin sits at the eastern end and the town of Treverton sits 10 miles west at the other end, the land actually goes past Treverton a few more miles, maybe 2 or 3 more miles past the town of treverton is still riding area. the landscape here is rolling mountain ranges and valleys, "the strippins" is in the valley between two mountain ranges, you can ride on the top of one mountain, down into the valley and up the other mountain side and its anywhere from 2 to 3 miles from mountain top to mountain top. So 10 to 12 miles long by 3 miles wide. Most of the strip mine land has been covered with trees and scrub pines, and there's miles and miles of trails. There's miles and miles of riding just behind Shamokin, once you get into the heart of the strippins there's trails everywhere and they crisscross all over. Well i'll be at camp on Friday the 4th, once the date gets closer i'll post GPS numbers, pictures and detailed directions from the town of Treverton. If you can find Treverton, i'll get ya's the rest of the way to base camp. Camp should be pretty east to find, I dont think anyone will get lost or confused trying to find our camp. We'll be camping about 1\2 mile from the main road, so you wont have to drive offroad very far.

ahh that sucks. you gotta work something out with the family, tell em that your busy that weekend and you'll see em the following weekend..... ....... and you gotta change your user name from "." back to abyss or something, how in the hell am I supossed to say your user name damit period Boonman your last two replies were funny, I was just telling Rustyrider a few hours eariler that someone one just asked for the 20th time where and when is coalfest. I told RustyRider that im not answering those 2 questions anymore... cause all you have to do is read the thread and everything is answered. So are you coming down ??? I have an ice cold Yuengling Lager with your name on it. Race gas. RustyRider can hook yas up, try to decided what you want and how much of it ASAP so he can order it up and make sure its here for June. GapRacing is a great little local shop, im like a kid in a candy store when I go there. We're going to work on the base camp this weekend.... clean up the area cause there's some trash layin' around. Make a nice fire pit and cut down some of those saplings. Should be a nice place to camp when we're done. There's a big canyon dug about 100 yards away from camp. It was made by the coal companies and its pretty deep. Id say the canyon walls are about 70 feet tall. You can ride to the bottom of the canyon and the bottom is nice and flat. At the bottom of this canyon, we're planning on making a drag strip. Just gonna clean up the area so no one runs over any glass and we'll make a start and finish line using some lime. Spectators will have an excellent place to veiw any drag racing from up on the rim of the canyon looking down at the quads racing. I'll get some pictures of the canyon online soon.

f*ck walmart and thier cheap undercutter ways. you shoulda bot a ratio rite from a local bike shop, you'd support the atv industry, supporting the guy who owns the atv shop, supporting working class americans and not those billionaires at walmart who bought that same cup from China for a nickle. 5-8 years ago, my town had a K-Mart and an Ames department store. Wal-mart came to town and built a supercenter. It put the Kmart and ames out of business, just like walmarts are doing all around the country. The real bitch is not the fall of big stores like K-mart, but the smaller mom and pop stores that cant even come close to the prices and selections at Walmart. Mom and pop stores sell ratio rite cups and that money goes to putting food on thier tables. Walmart sell thier "ratio rite" cups and that money goes to building more bigger Walmarts. 90% of the shit sold at Walmart is "made in China" and thats one reason they can undercut everyone else. f*ck Wal-mart. last weekend me and my son wanted to buy a new PS2 game. silent hill 3 was the name of the game. So we drove up to the walmart supercenter and they didnt have it. So I said to the boy... "we'll just have to go to.... uh.... uh...." I realized that there are no other local stores that sell PS2 games. I live in a small town, about 8000 people, and there's a few smaller towns around. After driving around for awhile, we couldnt find anywhere that sells ps2 games locally. No one can compete with Walmart, espically if you live in a rural area like I do. Id have to drive 25 miles to the mall to get the PS2 game. f*ck walmart, im going to the mall.

Right And Wrong Way To Ride A 2 Stroke?
Meat replied to trail rider's topic in General Banshee Discussion
QUOTE (trail rider @ Mar 21 2004, 07:43 AM) What tools do you need to bore out the cylinders? Or where could/should you take it to bore out the cylinders? A big fucking drill bit. ha thats funny LOL. . No, bad idea. your trying to ride it like a 4 stroke, "engine braking" is not a term associated with 2 strokes. Id recommend going down the hill in a higher gear like 4th or just throw it in nuetral. What you really aughta do is, put it in 3rd gear, stand up on the pegs, position yourself rearward on the quad and ride it down the hill.... get on the gas and burn down the hill. No drifting, no engine braking, no putt putt'in down... your riding a banshee not a 110 3 wheeler. J/L of course -

Thought this was interesting. Stephanie Parton and Traci Cecco came in first and second place overall in the morning race. They finished ahead of 299 other racers, most of em guys. The morning races include the Womens class, all 3 Utility classes, 2 and 4 stroke C classes, 4 stroke stock, super senior and 1st year racers.

Ballance Bests Steele Creek GNCC Kentucky rider tops 580-ATV field in National Cross Country Action Morganton, NC - Four-time ATVA Grand National Cross Country Series Champion Bill Ballance is showing no signs of letting up on his quest for title number five. The Oakland, Kentucky native bested over 580 riders on a rough, high-speed race track at the Steele Creek Campground in Morganton, North Carolina. It's his third-straight win of the young 2004 GNCC season. "It was rough out there," said Ballance, 27. "But it can't get much better than this. It was a great day to race, and I really appreciate all the people out there cheering us on. It makes a big difference on a rough track like this. We were battling hard, and I wanted to win it bad." Ballance battled stiff competition, especially from Pennsylvania's Matt Smiley. Smiley chased Ballance throughout the final 11-mile lap, and nearly pulled off a pass for the lead in the final mile. "I was running right there," said Smiley. "I didn't know where to get around him, but then all of a sudden this big bush just started moving! I didn't know what was going on, I guess some fans were pulling it back so I could get through, but I wasn't sure. I didn't even see them. So I missed my chance to go for it." After two-hours of racing, Smiley ended up second by just five seconds. Third went to West Virginia's Chad DuVall. "I like this course here. It was a Chad style course," joked DuVall. "It got really rough, the holes and bumps were really big. I had a good start, but I made a mistake and hit a tree, and I stood the quad straight up and came off. I lost a lot of time there." DuVall would eventually crawl all the way back to the leaders, Ballance and Smiley, but couldn't execute the pass needed to take a win. Other favorites struggled, like Suzuki's William Yokley, who led early but got stuck behind slower, lapped riders on a hill climb and lost time. Pennsylvania's Chris Borich also led the race, but he got caught on a vine and was pulled from his machine. Both riders were uninjured, but they had hoped for better results. The GNCC event also featured a two-hour race in the morning for beginning riders and amateur classes. The race was won by a female rider, Ohio's Stephanie Parton, who also works at an ATV shop back at home. "It was a good day," said Parton. "I just tried to be smart and get around the slower riders. The Steele Creek course is definitely a tough one." Traci Cecco, another female racer, was second, with a several hundred male competitors coming in behind them.

Good question. can we try to get a headcount. whos comin' and who ya bringin' with ya. whos riding what ? Me and my son Alex will be there. I'll be on my yellow banshee and alex will be riding his blaster. alex is 12 yrs old and this is his second year riding the Blaster. He's still a novice but he's fearless. Alex rode a nice piped KX 60 for 3 years or so. We still have that bike and im going to sell it soon. Anyone lookin for a nice KX60?? Me and Alex plan on camping out Friday night and Saturday nights. So far the headcount is 2. I wanna hear 25 banshees at once. I think we found our basecamp. We're going to go back out and check one or two more spots, but we're pretty sure we found camp. That big giant coal shovel, in the picture a few posts up, is right near camp. I want to setup a drag strip. What kinda of distances should I setup ?? I was thinking of marking off 100 yards and 300 yards. I dunno, I dont drag race much. We have a nice spot picked out for drag racing We'll be about 2 miles from Coal Hill, a 5 minute ride from the hill. The dirt road leading to camp is old and its got a puddle or two but in general the road is pretty good. No one should get stuck and trailers should be fine. A car could drive back to camp, but Id recommend a truck or van. The camp is wooded and nice trail runs right up the middle of camp. There seems to be alot parking space too. That big coal shovel is right there in camp. Its big. We're gonna clean the place up really nice and try to make some flat level campsites. Im taking a tent. Everyone bring your own food and drinks. I'm bringing a few of my soupies. I'll bet rustyrider brings a few soupies too. Rustyrider, maybe some boilo
