  1. aww hell yea, you can see it in the picture, that shock mount aint right. Thats really gotta fuc with the leverage on the shocks can you guys with these Ugly arms post some pictures of em mounted and the quad has all 4 tires on and is on the ground. Id like to see this ground clearance. erbilabuc, how did they make your front shocks feel ? to soft ?
  2. ha thats a good one. i like what pointdexter was saying about 'keeping it on the pipe'. I like to keep the power a hair below the start of the big powerband hit.... and all you have to do is twist the throttle a c-hair and your hittin' the pipes, hold on tight. That calm before the storm is where I like the powerband, just blip the throttle and things get crazy. hows' this..... your riding in 3rd gear, just below the powerband hit, your doing about 30mph and your just cruzin' down the trail... all of sudden a big puddle appears just roll on the throttle and skim right over the puddle, front tires never get wet. Thats how I ride em. I dont know how to ride a 4 stroke I owned a quadsport along time ago, over 10 years ago, thats the only 4 stroke iv owned.
  3. shirt looks great
  4. well this is getting interesting. June now has more votes. september and october are my favorite times of the year to ride. kinda cold to camp tho.
  5. BIRDMAN 1, yes its true.... they torn down the old breaker buildings near coal hill. They took em down about a month ago. Looks wierd. Hotels. I'll hook you guys up with some hotel names, locations and phone numbers asap. Sandman, there are fish in some of the lakes. You can catch a billion bluegills. I know of one secluded water hole full of bass. we call it "the basshole". You can see the bass swimmin' around the basshole, the bitch is trying to find a good place to cast....... the lake is surrounded by fairly steep coal banks, so your fighting the bank the whole time your fishing. The best way to fish it is from a boat. We used to take a canoe out and catch fish all day. the basshole will only be 2 miles from camp. 5 minute ride on the quad. bring your fishin rods and give it a shot. Rebelbanshee I have no idea. The few quads iv owned iv never had one with a title. Never had any insurance either. Never bought a registration sticker. Does everone understand that the land we'll be riding on, is private property owned by a coal mining company thats located 75 miles away. We will be tresspassing. I need everyone to understand that there is a legal risk riding here. With that said, in 20 years of riding here iv never had a single problem, never ran into any security gaurds, never been chased, never been fined, never had a "close call", never had any problems at all. As long as we're all civilized, we shouldnt have any problems. Please dont bring any fireworks. Please bring plenty of gas, goggles, skidplates, and tire plugs. A chest protector and a kidney belt are good items to bring along. I think we found our campsite last sunday. We scouted about 6 different places and took a bunch of pictures. coalfest camp shovel ???
  6. I just cut a new chain to length sunday night. assuming you dont have a chain breaker tool.... remove the chains masterlink and take the chain off the rear sprocket. Slide your axle carrier all the way forward so you have full chain adjustment and tighten it down so the carrier doesnt move. wrap the chain around the rear sprocket and stretch it tight, overlap the two chain ends and then..... things get interesting... you gotta figure out what links need removed and what link "pin" needs removed to remove said links understood. Just take a good look at the chain and how there are two different links, look at the masterlink and fully understand how it links the chain together. Once your 100% sure you know what pin to remove, take the chain to your local bench grinder and grind the pin head down flat. Hammer and a punch will pound the pin out. Remove the pin&links and your done. Go put the chain back on and hope you cut the right pin grinding and removing the pin is the most physical part of the process, and its usually pretty easy to do. The pins usually pound right out. Just double and triple check where you going to cut the chain, you gotta grind the correct pin. Iv cut a few chains short in my time
  7. Ballance at the Hurricane Yokley at the Huricane
  8. GNCC News Parts Unlimited/Moose/Maxxis/Yamaha/Wiseco/Klotz/FMF/Dunlop/ITP ATVA Grand National Cross Country Series Hurricane GNCC The conditions at the Hurricane GNCC were familiar: wet and muddy. And the winner was too: defending GNCC Champion Bill Ballance. But it's what Bill was riding that made all the difference. After several close calls, the Kentucky rider finally claimed a win on his Yamaha YFZ 450. "This is the most fun bike I've ever ridden, and it's the most comfortable I've ever felt on a bike," said the four-time and defending GNCC Champ. Ballance won a torrid battle with the elements and the competition at The Hurricane. His stiffest competition came from Florida's favorite son, Greg Trew. Greg put together his first-career podium finish with a second place. Third went to the winner of the season-opening Lone Star GNCC, William Yokley. Yokley, like a pack of others, led the race at some point. Due to the muddy, swampy conditions, there were numerous changes in the conditions throughout the race, but when it counted the old champ was out in front. GNCC News Parts Unlimited/Moose/Maxxis/Yamaha/Wiseco/Klotz/FMF/Dunlop/ITP ATVA Grand National Cross Country Series General GNCC Ballance Blasts Through Florida and Georgia GNCCs Two wins in a week for the defending GNCC Champion Washington, GA - The naysayers aren't saying anything now. Yamaha's Bill Ballance put his stamp on another ATVA Grand National Cross Country Series championship charge with back-to-back wins in Florida and Georgia. "I guess I could tell people to never second guess me," said Ballance. "I'm having so much fun on this bike. And now we've got a nice points lead." In Florida Ballance had to battle a muddy, sandy track to take the Moose Dunlop Hurricane GNCC. "That was the kind of race where you just knew you were going to make up time somewhere. It was a battle of survival." In Georgia the riders were treated to perfect track conditions and perfect weather, and Ballance dominated to win the Maxxis General GNCC by a huge margin. "These are my kind of conditions: hard, rough and fast," said the Kentucky boy. "I've been waiting for a track like this for six years. I was just running a smooth pace, not trying to pull away, and I ended up with a big lead." The only rider to keep Ballance in sight on the track and in the point standings is Yoshimura/Roll/Suzuki's William Yokley, who cared a pair of solid third-place finishes. "I'm just trying to ride smart and smooth," said Yokley of his new-four consistency. "I'd rather be lucky then fast or smart!" Yokley is smart to thank his good fortune. Other contenders have suffered a variety of problems in the early rounds. Am-Pro Yamaha's Chad DuVall put together a solid runner-up ride in Georgia, but snapped a chain in Florida while running with the leaders. Team Safari's Matt Smiley battled a slipping clutch in Florida and a damaged shift lever in Georgia. And East Coast ATV's Chris Borich had to do battle on his practice quad in Georgia, since his race quad started blowing out oil - and losing power- in Florida. The weekends did launch two up-and-coming racers into the spotlight. At the Hurricane, Florida's own Greg Trew finally snagged his first GNCC podium by taking second. "I've been dreaming of this moment for so long and we finally made it," said Trew. "I didn't get stuck once all day. I never had to get off and push." Trew's podium ride was a popular one with the Sunshine state fans. But he would suffer in Georgia while riding with a pulled muscle in his arm. There it was time for a new rider to step up, Four-Stoke Tech's Bryan Cook. Riding strong all day, the 2003 GNCC Four-Stroke A Champion was in podium contention all day, and took fourth overall. "I never ever thought I would be this far up here," said Cook. "This is like a dream. I'm the happiest guy in the pits." And he probably was, except that Ballance guy is obviously pretty pumped to be starting a win streak on the thumper. After the back-to-back weekend stretch in Florida and Georgia, the GNCC Series takes a weekend off before heading to the Steele Creek Campground Morganton, North Carolina.
  9. Tats I love the bumper. I got it bolted on allready, the old AC mudscreen has been retired. I'll have to take some pictures. I also like the fact that the bumper came with 2 seasons of nationals experience. Its got history Tats what class did you race ? Open A ? You'll kick ass on the yfz, you should race it for shur. Have you ever raced a gncc ?? Do you know jason dunlkeburger? he's a local boy here, lives about 8 miles down the road. Hellava racer.
  10. compression ratio determines octane needs not cylinder compression. I cant beleive you didnt ride it yet, I though you rode it allready. Just setup the engine like they suggest and have fun with it. Like chromeshee said, if you wanted low end, you should bought a 4 stroke.
  11. yea put a set of dual aftmkt pipes on and just learn to ride it the way it is. Hold on tight and upgrade your brakes maybe?
  12. hey that was a good writeup, im glad you took the time and wrote that all out, I was hoping to hear some details about the big trip. All good reading, but I wanna know who had the fastest banshee !!?? seriously tho, howd the drags go ?
  13. i'll give ya $800 for it
  14. the low end loss is understandable, but why is the powerband peaky? Doesnt sound like a trail or MX port to me. Whats yer timing set at and whats your compression ?
  15. you cant port for low end gains.... and still get top end gains. As soon as you raise that exhaust port, there goes your low-end power. If you wanted to keep the low end power close to stock, you shoulda told em to leave your exhaust ports alone and just clean up the ports and fiddle with the intakes. Raise your exhaust port and expect low end gains is just not gonna happen. And that dynoport pipe is prolly choking the whole setup now that yer ported up. Run the pipes that they recommend, the dude doing your porting work should be porting to compliment the exhaust pipes he suggests. The best setup for low end power might be stock porting.
  16. we'll have plenty of soupie at coalfest
  17. hey i just put in a PW shock bushing kit. Check it out PivotWorks Shock Bushings let me know if you wanna sell that linkage kit
  18. Janssen Racing can do em
  19. what about Magic Racing. they are a bhq forum sponsor. Id bet they sell cranks
  20. july 17\18 weekend looks to be the date. fixit and boonman had some good points about the heat and possible dust in July. If the majority wants june, lets keep the voting open for another week and see if June can pick up some votes. Everyone post thier opinions on dates. Temps in july average high 80s low 90s. humid tho. Last year it rained twice a week, every week.... the whole year long. There was zero dust, it was a great summer for traction and no dust, best year I can remember. It rained every Friday like clockwork, traction was everywhere last summer. But all it takes is a hot mid 90's week with no rain for 7 days and the dust is so bad its impossible to ride through safely. Bring your goggles and bring a camelback, a cell phone would be a good idea. we're going out in the truck tomorrow morning to start looking\making a campsite. We have a few spots in mind and wanna check em all out, i'll try to get some pictures to show yas. Bring your trucks cause you'll be driving offroad to get to camp. We'll keep atv trailer access in mind when lookin for campsites tomorrow. Think about possibly june... but next sunday night we need to pick a date and stick with it.
  21. Banshee Microfisch
  22. great to hear that yas like em. I was going to send walter more of em to take to roostfest, but I forgot Iv been busy lately lost track of the roostfest dates. Im glad Ben had some for ya to try. Id like to hook everyone up with one of my soupies but I dont have many left. The soupies I sent to everyone were one year old back in February. I have aproxx 15 soupies left from this one year old batch and I need em to last me till October\November, thats when this years soupies are fully cured. I have 50 brand new soupies soakin in olive oil right now, we made em back in February. Once october roles around and this batch of 50 is cured, i'll start hookin' you guys up. But I want something in exchange !! Send me something, anything. The soupies we made this year are going to be better than last years batch. We tried a few more recipes this year too. We made.... regulars, hots, garlic and deer soupie last year, this year we made... regs, hots, garlics, regular deer, hot deer, red pepper, black pepper, pepperoni and hot pepperoni. 351w i'll have to start bringin' my soupies to work on fridays. Let zippy try em.
  23. What bugs me is, there's all these reasons why AV gas is not suitalbe for quads, from the high altitude forumla to the anti icing crap, but what bugs me is I know a few respected guys who run AV with no problems, never and have been running it for years. Plus its a hellava lot cheaper than VP. Last summer I was burning 10 to 15 gallons of gas per weekend, if I had to pay 7 bucks a gallon Id need to get a better payin' job . I just put 20cc domes in and my compression jumped from 130 to 165, I need hi octane and im gettin' some AV
  24. I use a ratio rite cup too. What I dont like about em is you have to measure twice when your mixing for 5 gallons of gas. You can only mix 2-1\2 gallons at a time, so you have to pour the oil in the cup twice to have enough oil for 5 gallons of gas. the maxima cup looks like it can hold more oil than a ratio rite cup. If the maxima cup held enough oil for 5 gallons of gas, id buy one.
  25. maybe next time glad to hear you had fun, how did your Banshee run for ya ?? post some pictures
