did you have the head shaved ?? those compression numbers are low but could be caused because the rings are'nt seated yet. After an engine is broke is and has some miles on it, the compression usually rises. Tell me how you performed the compression test. whats the deal with the porting ? what did jim do ?? drag port or cleanup trail porting ?? stock carbs ? -
sup doods, rausch creek is holding a big 6 hour atv race this upcoming Saturday\July 17th. Three man teams riding one quad for 6 hours on cross country, TT and MX courses. I'll be there working the pits for my cousin. Come on over and introduce yourself. Race starts at 5pm and ends at 11pm !!!

I'll have to go. Iv never rode in the sand b4 and would love to rip it up. Whats the situation with insurance, iv heard some place require you to have insurance on your quad. How bout registration ?? My banshee does not have a title, nor is it registered. In fact I don't even have any VIN numbers, the frame was bought new directly from yamaha and they dont come with vin numbers when you buy that way. Im going to need paddles. whatcha's recommend ??

dued, dont worry bout the smokin', just ride the damn thing. Once she's broke in... the smokin' will slow down. break it in properly tho, don't go wailing on it right away. HEAT CYCLES DAMIT !! are your carb "air screws" set the same amount of turns out ?? make sure your jetting is close or rich'ish' (word of the day "rich'ish") BTW.... you shoulda listened to Frocash and shouldnt have silly-coned the head gasket. There's a right way and a wrong way to do everything.... there's also a cheatin' way to do things and silicone on a head gasket is the wrong\cheatin' way of doing things. You could prolly safely remove the head and re-use the gasket without the silicone. Now if you remove your head 3 months from now.... replace the head gasket, but since you just rebuilt the engine you could have gotten away with reusing that head gasket. Any chance you got that silicone squished into the coolant passages... where it can clog shit up and fly around the radiator and impeller ? shoulda listened to Fro.... Are there any signs of leakage around the head or around the base of the cylinders ? If your leakin', she'll push out black oily oil.

did you use a new gasket when you put it back together ? The white smoke is prolly nothing to worry about, unless its really really puffin' alot of white smoke out. MAKE SURE YOU BREAK IN THE ENGINE PROPERLY. Once it warms up the smokin should stop or slow down considerably. Your smokin' might be caused from messed up carb jetting.... you'll have to tune your carbs jetting for your new engine. make sure you got it jetted right, post your carb info sometime. 2 strokes should smoke, but the smokin' shouldnt be too excessive. make sure you warm up that engine everytime you go riding, your using new FORGED pistons and they take a little more time to warm up than a stock cast pistons, so warm up that engine before you go hauling ass. Tork those head nuts to 20ft lbs and make sure you tighten em according the numbers embossed on the top of the head.

razr's, holeshots or turf tamers. the turf tamers are only 2ply so they'll punture a little easier than the other two I mentioned. I ran both the razrs and holeshots and I like the razrs better, the holeshots I ran were the older holeshots when they first came out on the market, the newer holeshots are designed more like the Razrs with the knobs spaced apart more than the original holeshots. There's actually a few different Holeshot and Razr models, they both have an MX tire and they both sell a trail tire and they both sell a top dollar race\gncc tire. The majority of GNCC racers use razrs, and GNCC racing is basically trail and mud riding. Another thing I like about Maxxis Razr's is they seem to support ATV racing more than ITP does, atleast at XC\GNCC events, you'll see the big Maxxis rig at every GNCC and thier contingency plan is better than ITP's if you plan on racing in your future. Maxxis is sponsoring alot more racers than ITP does..... and im talking about XC racing again. ITP and the Holeshot tires are used more on the MX track. Id think more MX guys are racing with Holeshots on than Razrs. Blackwaters are cool, but they're going to be heavier than the more sporty Holeshots and razrs. One nice thing about the Turf Tamers is they are really lightweight compared to the 4 and 6 ply tires. I just bought a new set of 20 inch Razrs, id like to try the Razr 2's but I cant justify 80 dollar tires when I can get the standard Razrs for 40.

I have the msr raptor clutch lever too and like it alot. No problems installing it or using it. Clutch pull is light and positive. I rode a stock clutch levered banshee today and couldnt beleive how bad it felt compared to the MSR lever. Price aint bad either.... I think it cost about 30 bucks. Plus its got one of those big star wheel cable adjusters on it.

I just bought a RS 200 watt stator and its not working. It has a one year warrenty on it tho, so Im sending it back. Bought my RS stator to fix an electrical problem I was having, and it only made things worse for me, I was sure the Ricky Stator was not my problem so I replaced every electrical part on my quad and still couldnt get it too spark. So I put a working stock stator back in and it runs great, put the RS back in and all my sparkage is gone again. Now I have to deal with sending it back and hopefully they won't give me any trouble. Iv heard nothing but good stuff about RS, and Im not bashin' them, I just want to tell my story about my RS stator. I guess I got one of the bad ones. I hear that RS business has grown so big that he is importing stators and Im one of the unlucky ones who bought a bum stator from him. Thank god Its got a warrenty..... cause that farkin' dead stator cost me 180 bones.

the YFZ hands down. iv seen rows of 20 yamaha flyin' into the first turn while the Honda riders are still tryin to get thier quad started. The Yamaha is the all around better quad, in every area.

Well I always stay out of the forum dramas but I gotta defend myself here. The ONLY comment I made on BHQ about bluetraxx is when Evil got banned from BT.... I said.... "Thats bullshit". Thats all I said, I didnt go ranting on any public forum, me and screamin disscussed it in PM's and thats it. "Thats bullshit". If you call that talking badly about bt, im guilty, those two words sure pissed of Screamin'..... enough to scold me like im one of his bitches. I havent been banned either, in fact I get Pm's once in awhile from the Banshee crowd there and i'll visit BT to answer my Pm's and check out the lastest threads in the forum section. And for the guy who said I was two-faced, you got alot of nerve talking about something you have no facts about. Here's the facts, lets all get it straight.... What I did was stand up for a respected and long time BansheeHQ member "Evil". Someone posted a picture of his Banshee on BT and someone was making negative comments about his Banshee's bumper. Evil signed up at BT and made two or three comments back to the guy busting on his bumper. EVIL GOT BANNED AFTER 3 POSTS... alteast he says he got banned....... he had some choice words for the moderator there and after that he got the 'banned messge"... altho the administrizzle says he wasnt banned. Evil started a thread on BHQ telling about his Bluetraxx ban stroy and I replied with..... "Thats bullshit". Because if you read what evil wrote at Bluetraxx.... it was complety harmless, there was nothing said in those threads to have him banned. I pm'ed Screamin' and asked VERY NICELY to please remove the picture of Evil's Banshee from his forums.... why did I get involved ????? because the picture was hosted on my website and I couldnt take it off of BT. Thats when Screamin' flew off the handle at me for not standing up for Bluetraxx and went completly bonkers about BansheeHQ and Lee. My "weirdo warning flag" went up and I thought.... this guy is taking this whole internet ATV forum thing WAY TOO SERIOUSLY..... I apologized to Screamin and told him I was not telling him what to do when I asked him to take the picture down, but I was only helping out a freind. Instead I got more Pm's about how terrible BansheeHQ is, the members are and how Lee doesn't care about BHQ or its members like he cares about his. I was like... "whatever dude... cya". Screamin eventually apologized to me but I'v seen the dark side and now Im done with Bluetraxx. I miss talking to alot the guys at BT, I met a lot of nice people there and had a good three years in there, hell I was one of the very first members. But damn that hatefull attitude is not for me. Just want to repeat that I never went around bashing bt anywhere, so get that rumor stopped now. There are also a few other reason why I quit going to Bluetraxx..... concerning overmoderating, censorship.... and telling the newbie members to use the "search function" when they ask a question and other reason's I'll keep to myself for now. Im done with this subject, I was done with it a year ago.

yea i watched the races on ESPN too. Always did like the Southwick sand track, glad to see the quads are racing it now too. Last years race was the first time they held a GNC at Southwick and this year was the first year they held a GNC at Glen Helen in 15 years, so the quad racing is finally coming along. Lap times around Southwick were right around 2 minutes even...... Stewart was doing 1.55 second laps. five full seconds faster...

smokin350, you don't need a stroker........... your 404 was smokin' the strokers... you were smokin' everybody on Sunday at the drags. Thats' right folks, I seen it with my own eyes..... Vito's 404 banshee beatin' the 4mil stroker in 300 feet. 03 ORANGE SHEE, I hear that SyntaXx and xcracer will also be riding this upcoming weekend. I have plans for Saturday.... we're going GNCC racing in Maryland this weekend.... The Wisp !! I'll be out riding Sunday tho if you guys are still around. I really really want to hold another fest..... I had a great time meeting and riding with everyone despite the rain. Could ya's picture all the dust we would have kicked up if it hadnt rained. The dust would have been worse than the wet trails. Actually traction was PERFECT at Coal Hill on Sunday.... it was muddy at camp and in the strippins, but Coal Hill and the drag strip had great traction. I have more video, but Im having a hard time getting it uploaded.

dennymc21, did ya ever notice that every so often they crack down on us hard.... and then its cool again for like a year & 1\2. They're just crackin' down right now.... give it a few weeks and you won't see any coal cops. I was talking to a guy who rides a 4x4 atv and he ran into the reading coal cops two weekends ago and the security gaurd let him go with a warning.... he said that he was let go because "he's a local and they're looking to bust the riders from out of the area". I'd really like to make it the strippins a legal legit riding area, like the guys did at Tower City and Rausch Creek. Both those places are built on old coal strip mine land, Rausch Creek looks just like "the strippins" and its one of the biggest offroad parks on the whole east coast... and RC is only 4 or 5 years old. I'd like to be the guy who gets the land open for the thousands of offroaders who ride here illegally. Its my... destiny I hear that Reading Coal company has an office in Pottsville. Syntaxx.... your from Pottsville, do you know anything about the coal company's Pottsville offices ?? Do you guys think I should pitch the "benifit ride" idea ?? Or should I have a different strategy ??

contact "cotton eyed joe", he makes a trick little lower steering stem bearing removal tool. Only charges a few bucks for the tool, but its a nice item to have in your toolbox. CEJ tools is basically what JJ described, but its sano and ready to use.

"slides" as in carburetor slides. They're the part in the carb that raises and lowers as you work the throttle. 110psi is low, but it should still start. Is the carb choke tube in place, its the little 3 inch long hose that connects the carbs together(im not talking about the large "balance tube on the intake boots). Go buy two new spark plugs, NGK b8es and make sure the gap is between .028 and .031 Air filter perfectly clean ? clean it up... and oil it too. Fuel filter in good flowin' condition ? Pull your gas line off one of the carbs and turn on the fuel..... have a can ready to catch the gas. You must decide if its an "ignition problem" or a "gas\intake problem". Once you buy two new plugs and your sure they're gapped(don't trust the pre-gapped statement) correctly, and your 100% sure the plugs are sparking bright blue sparks, then you have elimintated the electrical system, and can concentrate on troubleshooting the carbs. If you have some spare reed cage gaskets, pull your reed cages out and check the reeds for any damage. Reeds will prolly be fine, but atleast you can say they have been checked and eliminate them as a possible cause. Please list your mods and jetting specs. Why did you change your mix ratio ? Ben could be onto something here.... hot weather + a richer mix can foul out a plug quicker than shit. Pull those carbs and go over em really good. Air screws should be set the same amount of turns. 1-1\2 turns out from seated is a good starting point and actually the ideal setting for the air screws.

yea stay away from the fmf cdi's, iv heard alot of em going bad, plus FMF doesnt' even sell em anymore. Get a Dyna.
