  1. The Tz's were never sold to the general public, they were the king of the cafe' road racers back in the 70's and 80's. Here's a picture of my '85 Rz350
  2. You can DL the netscape browser here, I assume Composer is still bundled with the netscape browser. http://channels.netscape.com/ns/browsers/download.jsp Let me know if i can help.
  3. Id volunteer to help a BHQ Baja 1000 team. We have 11 months to prepare, the baja is ususally held in mid November. I dont know how I could help living on the east coast, maybe pitch in a few dollars or borrow a few of my aftmkt parts for the race. The winning team had 5 racing members, I think thats the way to go. Less fatigue on the riders with 5 guys on the team. Im sure the entry fee is minimal, we'd need to know all the rules and regulations. I have an old DirtWheels from the mid 90's featuring Sundahl's Baja winning Banshee, we could get some ideas from that article. I have a 6 gallon aluminum dessert tank, a Lance Shoonmacher tank. Its the same tank that Sundahl used on his Baja Banshee. The quad would need full skids and be completly bulletproof. Everybolt gets safety wired and loc-tite on anything we cant safety wire. Tire Balls for inside all four tires to help with flat tires. Beadlocks are a must. We'd need a fully manned pit crew with some 4x4 chase trucks. Atleast 5 oiled airfilters ready to install. A quick dump gascan would be cool to have. A spare clutch cable should be routed and mounted on the quad. Nice Sidewinder Ti-moly chain and sprockets would be a great idea, they gotta last a long grueling race. I think most of those baja racers strap a GPS on thier quads, so we'd need one of those. What else ? Any other thoughts or ideas ?? I know this will prolly never materialize, but its fun talkin' and planning it out. Recruiting a few sponsors would be a big priority. I vote for NinjaMaster to ride the first leg....
  4. elka, custom axis and works can all rebuild your stock rear shock.
  5. Heres' a few CPI pictures........ CPI pictures
  6. duece, jet up on the mains till it bogs out on ya, then keep dropping main jet sizes till it pulls perfect. My experience with crappy oil and hard starting...... Im a another big beleiver in Amsoil. I mix it at 50:1 and I havent had any spark plug fouling problems, hard starting or excessive smoking. Last october I ran out of Amsoil, so I went to the local bike shop where I buy it and he's sold out of it. I was desperate so I bought a gallon of Klotz R50. I mixed the Klotz at 50:1 just like the Amsoil. Ever since switching over to Klotz, my quad is really hard to start when the engine is ice cold. I have to drain the both float bowls, replace both sparkplugs with clean new ones and shake the hell outta the quad to mix up the gas in the tank, and with full choke and 10 good kicks it fires over. My compression is perfect, I havent lost a pound. Its that damn Klotz gumming shit up and seperating. Once I get it started, it smokes alot more than it should be. I did bump my main jets up for the cold weather, but it shouldnt be smoking as much as it is. My mains are pretty close to being "on" they're just a tad rich. Its that damn Klotz. Amsoil never smoked. I mean all 2 strokes should puff out a little blue smoke, thats normal. But this Klotz stuff smokes like hell. Once the bike is warmed up she runs fine and I can start it with one kick once its warmed up. What I did to fix the hard starting problem was...... like mentioned...... run it out of gas everytime I parked it. I too can ride out of my garage to all my riding spots, so on my way back home i'll shut off the gas about 2 city blocks away from my garage. Get in the garage and let it sit there and run itself dry. dont blip the throttle, just let it sit and idle and within a few minutes it will die. When you go to start it, shake the hell out it and kick over the engine about 10 times with the igniton off. Turn on the gas and it should fire up. Or you could always try some Amsoil. BTW i think if you went with cpi's you'll love em and they'll really wake up that 4mil engine.
  7. well.... it was supposed to come out at the end of November, then I heard they delayed the release to mid Dec. I watched the video just b4 the release.
  8. 03 Orange Shee, your reply got me thinkin' and your right, its prolly not as good as I originally thought. I really like the 4x4's in the other huevos, and REALLY liked the hillclimbs. There's neither in the H6. Wonder why they left that stuff out, it was a nice change from watching 250r's jumping over and over and over. And yea, there were more Banshee's this time, they covered that big French race, the Pont Du Voux, Banshee's dominated that race. Those big jumps that dunkelburger was doing at the end were HUGE. 'Dunk' lives 5 miles down the road from my place, so does Traci Cecco and Chris Borich. Does anyone know the release date for Huevos 6, im not sure if its been released yet.
  9. sneeky if your going to install a brass button reed caps, absolutly get the ones with the polished corner chamfers. Your bands will fit better and the caps will flow more.
  10. I beat this thing in a drag race once.........
  11. its pretty damn good. the Gasgas jumping off an old abandon building was cool. Lots of YFZ450 video. There's one section called "Central Pa" and they filmed it at Rausch Creek, thats my neighborhood. Lots of vid of Borich & Smiley @ Rausch. Jason Dunkelberger and John Natalie are the last riders on the video, they're hitting some humogous jumps, looks like 100 yards, just plain sick. The video quality is ALOT better this time, from what I understand they used a 16mm camera this time, the quality is far better than past heuvos.
  12. anyone watch it yet ?
  13. iv actually seen quite alot of Banshee racing in the smaller XC events, the GNCC series is the biggest XC races, so these guys are dead serious about racing, and thats why there's less Banshee racing GNCC. Nax guys will get +1 or +2 width A-arms and then use rims that offset, or should I say "inset" to keep the width of the quad narrow. I *think* most XC guys are around 46 or 47 inches wide up front. Big gastank is a must, handgaurds are almost a necessity too, sealed up water tight airbox is cool, beadlock or reinforced rims are a must, a good mod for a XC Banshee would be an aftermarket large capacity radiator. Iv been to a handfull of XC races and one GNCC race and I really want to try it. I think id do OK, cause its basically like racing your buddies out on the trails.
  14. Got the results. Looks like Farr's team and the new Honda 450 won the Baja this year. CLASS 25 (over 251cc) 1. 15. acutally the 2 stroke 250r's still dominate GNCC. A 250r based quad has won the GNCC championship every year since 1986. Ballance won it this year on an LRD built 250r. Lian, when you think of the "banshee" atv what comes to mind ?? THE POWERBAND !! That awsome arm ripping 2 stroke powerband. Well this hard hitting powerband is not so great for tight woods racing and all the mud holes found in the XC races. Lets face it, the Banshee can be made to handle tight trails and MX tracks similar to the 250r, but why would you build a 250r geometry Banshee when you can just buy and race a 250r, or one of the new 4 strokes that have 250r based geometry. The Banshee's that do race XC are setup for low end power and 250r geometery. Its just alot simpler to buy a 250r than it is to buy a Banshee and set it up like a 250r. Freind of mine that races GNCC with a Banshee uses a 2:1 Motofast pipe, big single carb and NO port work, shorty swingarm and stock width aftermarket A-arms. Ballance races with a 300 powervalve motor, chris Borich uses a 270 powervalve motor, both engines are from LRD. I be racing XC this summer using an old RZ350 engine with powervalves so hopefully that will give me a good edge on the competition. Im allready setup with the shorty swingarm\honda geometery. I wish I had a 250r but I have too much money wrapped up in my Banshee and besides, I really know my Banshee inside and out so im gonna stick with it. Now my son will racing his Blaster and when he outgrows the Blaster class, and if he still wants to race, he'll be getting a 250r to race, not a Banshee. Dont get me wrong here, the Banshee is a great quad, but in all honesty the 250r's are the race quads to have. That was until the YFZ450 arrived, things have changed now. Watch for Ballance, Borich and Smiley to be riding the new 4 strokes new season.
  16. Does anyone know who won the big baja 1000 race this year ? How did Tim Farr do on the new Honda 450 ? When are we going to put together a BansheeHQ Baja 1000 team and make the Banshee king of the desert again ??
  17. How bout that muddy John Penten race ! wow that was a mess, I would not want to race in those conditions. Poor Chris Borich has been having a hard time with these last few races, but keep watchin him, he wins a couple, I wont tell you which ones he wins. I went to the Rausch Creek GNCC that was aired last Tuesday. Prolly the ugliest track so far, but it also did the most damage to the quads. Did you see all the flat tires in that race. The one guy snapped a spindle, another guy's whole front tire\hub came off. Ballance had a flat, Smiley had a flat. Its was a rocky race. Rausch Creek GNCC looks exactly like the terrain I ride, its only 30 miles away. Now ya's can see why im always breaking parts, bending rims and getting flat tires (actually this year my quad held up great). Here's 5 pages of Rausch Creek GNCC action that I put together. http://www.thebansheezone.com/Bansheezone/...sch%20Creek.htm Chris Borich recently won that big 24 hour "race of america" race. Borich owns a pair of YFZ's, watch for him next year to race the Pro-Production class.......
  18. Blue Duece would you say wheelies are harder to pull with zero preload shocks. I found that instead of the front end lofting, the front suspension just stretches out and the front tires stay planted to the ground. Better handling with the front tires on the ground, but wheelie action diminished.
  19. that aint gonna work. the stock cable splits into 2 cables, you'd have to remove the "Y" in the cable and its gotta be the correct length and it aint gonna work. The single carb kits come with a cable, and if your buying a used carb and there's no cable, contact Trinity or Graydon Proline and get the correct throttle cable. This is not a part that you want "rigged up". DIRFT do it right the first time.
  20. When i read the title of this thread, the first thing I thought was what FroCash wrote : "for trail riding they have alot of open tred, and they are known to get puntures in the tires" I have used the 18 inch trekkers and put about 10 holes em, I sold em with half the tread left on em and 10 big plugs stuck in em. Then a few years later I broke down and tried the big 22 inch trekkers, I had the same problems with the excessive flat tires. When I tried these tires it was 10+ years ago, I can remember thinking that the lugs were spaced too far apart and that is why I was always getting flats with em. I read the same comments in one of the ATV mags and now Fro stated it too. Id get Razr's or Turf Tamers. If your on a budget and want cheap tires, f*ck the trekkers and get turf tamers instead.
  21. I could wheelie through most of the gears on my ol' 230 quadsport, 4 strokes are a hellava lot easier to wheelie. I cant ride a wheelie on my Banshee, the powerband just aint freindly enuf for me + im getting old Tats, id love to see some pictures of the raptor spindles on the Banshee. The only reason I said they wont work, is because recently someone here said they tried em and it wasnt even close. I know you'd have to use the Raptor's front hubs, I think the problems would be fitting them to the Banshee's A-arms. The Raptor spindles would have to be identical, or damn close, to the Banshee's spindle dimensions. I wanted to bolt on 400ex spindles along time and all the replies I got said they wont work. Maybe cause they're from a Honda. Maybe the raptor's will work cause they're a Yamaha part. Id really like some more info on your bud's banshee with the rappy spindles, and a picture or 3 would be great. Id like to use 400ex spindles if I could, that way I could bolt up some 250 calipers to em.
  22. another heim picture from above.....
  23. I'll Paypal you $30 bucks shipped for everything.
  24. Hey boonman i'll trade you my 7mm stroker for your LR crank....... bahahahahahaha Seriously tho. im kidding . Hook benbb up with a good price on yours.
