  1. looks like a hot rods crank assembly to me. also looks like detonation to me, or the piston was chewing up on some lower bearing particles or something.
  2. a port job will last the life of the cylinders, as long as the 1st port job is good enough, that you don't send the cylinders back out and get a new/better port job. port jobs don't have a life expectency like rings or bearings. once the ports are cut, they're cut. also, you will get a noticable gain from a good port job. not so much of a gain from boring out the cylinders.

  5. yeah, at first i was mixing up the sst pipe w/the gnarly pipe. snope, you think my peak on the fattys is around like 8,500-9,000, or more so towards 9,000-9,500? thanks for the help guys.
  6. oh shit, that's right......the sst is a top end pipe. i was mixing it up w/the gnarly pipe. i was really thinking of the gnarly pipe....i was gonna say, i can't believe the gnarly out peaked the fatty pipe, cause of it being a low end pipe, but now it makes perfect sense, that the top end designed sst pipe, outdid the fatty on peak.
  7. i wouldn't have guessed that the sst pipes would have peaked higher than the fattys. snope, what do you think the peak hp rpms are of the ssts and fattys? i see your chart has hp and mph, instead of hp and rpm.

  12. oh, come on deckheight....LOL. i did 9 nicasil plated snowmobile cylinders this year and yeah, it sucks. that nicasil is so damn hard, it takes forever to get thru it.
  13. does anyone know of the link that used to be on here, to some dyno sheets of like 5 banshee pipes that were dyno tested? i'm looking for the max rpms and max hp figures of my fatty pipes and the power curve. also what ever other dyno sheets that i can find to compare power curves etc to. i tried searching, but found nothing, even after 1hr of searching.
  14. 70 degrees?? i think you mean 70% of bore diameter. my graham bell book says up to 73% can be used. my snowmobiles main exhaust port is 73% of bore diameter. ex, if your cylinder bore is 1.530", and you want the exhaust port width to be 70% of the cylinder bore diameter, then the port width will = 1.071" 1.53" X .7 = 1.071"
  15. i think he's doing that to help push the old exhaust gas out, before the new large charge of fuel/air comes in thru the main and secondary transfers.

  17. those cd's are a waste of $. i bought one a while back. it tells you nothing. even the most beginner of porters, would already know what the cd tells you. save your $.
  18. brandon, the video would be awesome. i've ported my own stuff before, but can always learn more. i would buy a video from you for sure. maybe have 2 versions.....technical for the gurus and not so technical for the beginners?
  19. the up side would be that you will make more peak hp w/raising the exhaust port. bottom end is always sacraficed tho w/this method. you need to rob peter to pay paul.
  20. i've always read that when you raise the exhaust port, you will lose bottom end. maybe i'm wrong?
  21. 05.Banshee.SE, you said that you picked up top end w/+4 timing? i gained bottom to mid w/that on mine, but top end went flat, w/no over rev what so ever. i wonder what gives.

  23. yeah, i'm always up front. i don't hide anything. i'll tell it how it is. deckheight, you have a extra set of cylinders you would want to send my way? then you could run them on the dyno and see what the hp figures are.
