  1. That doesnt sound right, sounds like you needed a top end rebuild first. Hope that shop knew what they were doing and brought your squish back to were it is supposed to be.

  4. Ok heres another dumb question. When they make one where does 6th gear go ? Can you just not get into it because of the shift drum mod?
  5. I'm going to be getting a bike with a 1-5 n down duneable and have read a little about them on here but have a few questions. First off how delicate are they? I know about the limited backloading but for example if you were shooting a big hill or huge dune wot and started to bog and needed to drop a gear to get to the top can you do it(letting off of course)? Secondly for you guys that race to the top of a hill and have plenty of power or just friendly run on the flat dont you miss 6th gear? I sure think I would. I'm always getting into 6th and I dont have near the open spaces to ride compared to a desert. I have seen alot of videos of you guys at the dunes and others when you line them all up and have a little race and looks to me like their not short little runs. No matter how quick your bike was I would think you would run out of rev's before you got to the end of your run when others have all 6 or an actual 5 speed bike with a higher final gear ratio than a Banshee in fifth. Or do you just have to pick and choose who you race?

  12. The more power you make , the taller gear you can pull if top speed is what your after. I'd rather be quick from point A to B than have a high top end speed.

  14. If you have a 98 everything will go on the 95. You wont have any problems.

  16. 1987-1989 are J-arm frames, 90 on up are A-arm. Some of the front brake stuff is different on the old ones and electric varies a bit over the years but other than that they are all the same.

I hesitate to say this because I'm not encouraging you to do it but to answer your question, yes increasing compression ratio alone will produce some power thus dictating the use of race fuel to combat detonation but I dont feel that it is worth it at all. After porting and a welded crank, yes its worth it if you dont care about the price of race fuel.
