The responses to your post have gone all over the place. I'm not going to tell you how to set up a hillshooter bike, cause that's not something I have any experience with. But just going off the info you provided...you have some context clues we should look at..... I would expect a 421 to punt kick the front end with a +6, a big rider, 9 paddles and that gearing and a first gear launch. There isn't anything wrong with using 1st gear, but you shouldn't have too with gearing like that. (Your gearing to fight a bog, both at the start and farther up the hill.) This can be rider weight.....or more importantly a lack of HP or a peaking narrow power band, too much compression, or a bad dome shape. Having the wrong pipe for the build can contribute as well. If your motor bogs when launching in second with that combo......In my opinion, you have some motor related issues. Your jetting is way off, or your build is fighting itself.

Damn that's some funny shit right there.

LMFAO

Depends on where you ride too. Hill shooters love less paddles and haulers. Draggers love extremes. Depending on the place you ride...paddle numbers will very. Don't know where the Noob is from but.....In Michigan a +6 and 9-10 paddle extreme will work great.

Between your spelling/punctuation and your brothers ride talents.........I'd blame it all on the family gene pool.

Was funny. But I saw too many skid marks to think it was real. They must have done quite a few takes.

how do I keep up with a raptor 700
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to Jgspahn's topic in General Banshee Discussion
If you want to know what it will take to keep up with a Raptor 700............Keep your fuel tank topped off. If Jeff is porting your motor and your doing a for real build.....that should just about do it. (Unless you can't ride for shit.) -
Karts make more power per cc than Banshees.

Gas Prices vs. Racing Trip Distance
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to SlowerThanYou's topic in General Banshee Discussion
LOL Don't forget to add in all the "Night before the race" wrenching. Don't know why, but the wrenches are always flying the night before the trailer gets loaded. Yup. (4 1/2 hours there and 4 back) I can make it there and back on just 2 tanks total. I spit costs when I can since I have a crew cab and can play taxi for 1 or 2 friends. On the July trip, my wife rode so much that we spent more on race gas than I did on the truck. LMAO I really want to head to Glamis and ride with my buddy Mailman one of these days. But the ride season there is right in the heart of my HVAC Heating season. So....it's not the gas...it's the loss of income. I'll do the whole shipping container deal one of these days, then just fly out and ride. But with an economy in the toilet.....trips like that are not in the budget right now. -
Gas Prices vs. Racing Trip Distance

So let me get this straight. After spending thousands of dollars on building a drag bike the way you want it......your looking to drive 1900 miles one way, so you can enter a drag race where you just might get to make let's say maybe 12 passes over the weekend. With a time of roughly 4 seconds per run. So less than a minute of actual racing time......and now GAS PRICES are the cold water on your plan???? So if gas is $760 one way...your not going. But if it was more like $380...then your all in? I'm not knocking any of it. I'm just amused at where and why people finally draw a line in the sand. $750 for a billet drag axle....That's Ok. But $750 for gas money to go hang with friends and vacation for a weekend....Too much. -
What can I expect with this build......
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to salmon_slayer06's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
The build you listed would be lucky to hit 60HP. Dome shape is more important that shaved heads or compression. It's a matched system. Do some more research, this site is full of great info. REDLINE RACING FTW!!! -
So bought a trailer few questions or suggestions

THIS IS AN AWESOME POST !!!!! I never knew about those 2x4 E track fittings. That tidbit of info is a game changer for me. Thanks for posting this. That one little piece of info is going to do wonders for what I'm looking to do with a trailer. -

You can't use anything that burns and uses the oxygen from the space your in....unless you want to wake up dead! (NO PROPANE, GAS, LP, WOOD, ETC.) A little electric heater will heat the trailer just fine if your using sleeping bags. That trailer will stay really warm once you get a little heat in it. You could even just get an inverter for your truck and make electric long enough for the heater to warm up the trailer, then shut everything off and go to sleep. We did that with a friends 24ft enclosed all the way into the mid 30's and we were just fine. -
No. But the design is a universal improvement over the 3's. The more power the motors made...the bigger the gains we saw. So I would think that a DMX would show significant improvements. If you can find 4's to fit your DMX application, I would try them. (Really if your talking about a DMX build.....$200 is peanuts.)
-
Your call. This dyno run shows around 7 more HP in that 7500-8000 range as well as 4 more peak HP. I don't know where your going to find power like that any cheaper. (Smaller motors will of course see smaller gains, but it's all relevant.) The 3's aren't junk and if you have them...you can just run them. But if your looking for more power, better throttle response, stronger overall power.....$200 ain't much as far as this sport goes. Besides...if your 3's are still good...sell them and the upgrade costs for the 4's get even cheaper.

Depends....did you study the new math? Wit dat maff You get a 700.

Some people use airbox lids to effect jetting. I can't say that I've ever heard of pipe swapping as a method. But I could see it working. However....I would think that if you have a good enough grasp of how pipes can effect your tune...it shouldn't be hard to learn how to simply change a jet.

What skids work with full flight +3 arms?
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to turbowrenchhead's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Why do you need skids for the front A-arms? -
Well that's why I posted this date a little early. Gives people plenty of time to get the time off. If you don't put these dates on the calendar......your woman will end up dragging you someplace dumb you didn't want to go to anyway. Pen in some dates so you can say..."I can't....I've got a trip planned."
