1. We're going back to the basics with the DMX! While the clutch lever feels pretty light, I have no idea what the baseline clutch set-up is. I pulled the clutch set-up out today to baseline the clutch. It has a Direct Drive Lock-up installed with a decent amount of staggered weight installed. It only had 4 springs installed, 2 appear to be stock & the other 2 are unknown. Pulling out the clutch plates, I found this is an 8-plate clutch system. I have the measuring tools coming to do a complete baseline of the current clutch set-up. This baseline was used for 1/4-mile racing & it will probably change. We will start testing with the baseline. Then will provide the changes made to hopefully improve the 60's with a heavy chassis/rider. Thee one & only 1700Camaro/STY! 😛
2. This stupid quad is consuming way too much of my time since it's been home! We have 2 sets of needles for the Q16 race fuel for the Lectrons. We have the leanest set installed. I changed out 1 set of alky power jets for some smaller Vito's power jets as recommended by Packard. As for the timing, we're going to leave the same timing curve as when it was on alky. Should be updating the pinned Clutch Tuning Thread. Thee one & only 1700Camaro/STY!
3. The DMX is back home. We are hoping to do some short 200' street hits on it the end of Dec. This old man might even launch it a couple of times, LOL! Hoping to get it to the track in Jan. or Feb. for some 1/8th mile times. This whole combo is outdated, heavy & a big 290 lb. rider. Needless to say, we will not be setting the world on fire! Below is a pic of it, hopefully it's the right one. I can't see them on this 3rd world site.
4. The DMX is supposed to be delivered this coming weekend. I'm not sure I'm ready to deal with it! The race car is the priority, as it has always been, but I always made or found time for the quad racing. The good thing is we only have one race planned for its comeback in May 2025, Kingman Street Drags. The plan is to at least get some testing done. Hopefully one time at the track before the event & maybe some short test hits on the street with a Dragy.
5. I don't see the pics, but I use a computer. I do see the pics using Tapatalk, but hate using the phone for this shit. My understanding from Angel is the DMXs are not the ticket to run in 300'. He says the DMs are the way to go over the DMXs. As for the Q16 we were well versed in using it in our 443 Cub. We were quicker & faster than on methanol. I think we started out running the Q with the DMX. Just remember don't put your nose to the can opening & take a sniff. We call that shit Rat Poison!
6. I'm trying to inspire myself. The DMX has been sitting idle since 2019 & I wanted it to be used. Angel is done riding & Justin wants to race it; the issue is he's 6'3" 270 lbs. It might get used once or twice a year. Anyway, it shouldn't give me too many headaches. These are the most recent pics I have. The Quad is fully assembled & needs to be fired up. The only major change to the motor is switching back to Q16 from alcohol. The motor should still put out around 160 hp. 7. Thanks, K110! I don't understand why I can't see what I post for pics. Yes, that was the DMX laid out before assembly. The cases were machined for sprocket clearance.
8. Thanks, SpecialBender! I'm not going anywhere, but it's hard to get inspired to post. The infamous DMX will live, with or without the BHQ!
9. 🤔 Hmmmmm.......decision(s), I'm on the edge of my seat!
10. Motor is done & installed in the frame. Hopefully be finished up & fired soon on rat poison! I would post pics but can't see what's being posted.
11. I don't know, I can't see the pics.
12. Slowly making progress! Hoping to get some type of testing done this winter.
13. I hope it helped! I've been doing this for 35+ years & it's somewhat easy for me to do naturally. It's a different story when you try to explain it in written form to others. While I think we have mainly been talking about .500 sportsman/full tree. I'm well experienced in both the .400 & .500 pro light, leaving off top bulb .500 full tree with a delay box & still working on a blocked tree leaving off the last bulb.
14. Update, waiting on parts, hope to get some testing done this fall/winter. Angel is completely rebuilding the engine; he did find a broken piston. 1/4 mile is hard on a 2 stroke! We're converting it back to the Rat Poison race fuel. We will primarily use it for 1/8-mile asphalt racing or shorter but not ruling out 300' sand/dirt.
