I almost got T-Boned by a deer at Fox Valley Off Road! (For all you who aren't familiar with the place, it's a small off road park in IL.) I was running some of the tight trials in the trees on the NE end that are very close together from each other, and somehow we surrounded a Doe and a fawn. I think I was about as startled as they were. You would think with all the loud 2-strokes ripping the area, that every thing down to the birds would have exited the area. It was the second time I'd seen deer in the park while riding. But it was the only time I had gotten close enough to make eye contact! LOL.

Sounds like he would be better off just putting a set of Vito's Super Stock pistons in his existing motor, running the pipes he has and calling it good. No need to spend big money if you don't need a big power. He can see an 8 HP jump just with the piston upgrade. The Vito's Super Stock pistons, a set of pipes (That he already has), the TORS eliminator kit and a good set of reeds will make any bike a real strong runner for very little money. It'll smoke any 450, run on pump gas and be reliable. Check page two of the dyno section under "random dyno posts" to see just what that combo can do!

Stock swingarm carrier questions
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to BAMF87's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I'd seriously think about just buying an aftermarket "Honda style" round carrier swing arm. (There are a few used ones listing here in the classifieds that would be great.) If your going to spend the money to powder coat the stocker....plus re-do the bearings....it wouldn't be too much more money to just get a new arm. (It will weigh over 10 pounds less!) It will come powered coated and with new bearings. Plus, once you have the round carrier style......you'll wonder why you waited so long. Yeah, it's more money to spend ....but it will be worth it! -
CPI's and Shearers aren't "DRAG PIPES". They are pipes that work well on motors that make more power and rev higher. Keep in mind a stock banshee motor makes peak power at 6500 RPM. Any modded motor with port timing work or an aftermarket cylinder will rev a lot higher than a bolt on type stock motor. CPI'S and Shearers make the same lower end power that a "Smaller" type pipe will make. But they allow the motor to rev and make more power in the top end. Many times this leaves people thinking that they are "Top End' pipes. In reality.....they just make SO MUCH top end, that it leaves the bottom end power feeling flat. But most of the time they are making more bottom end power too. It just feels lame compared to that motor hitting the pipe and really making big top end power. T-5's like all pipes, have their own shape. It's the shape of the pipe that makes it work different than others. Size isn't the big issue. If a pipe is too small....it can hold heat in the motor and that is a whole nother discussion. LOL. T-5's might work....but not well.

Well I'm close to Adam Sandler's age and it was a dated reference when it was in Happy Gilmore. Just like the STYX music.

Every pipe will work on about any motor....the question is will it work well or help the motor. Pipe choice isn't always about did you pick the best pipe. Sometimes it's about can you afford to buy a different set of pipes. I wouldn't try running T-5's on a serval. But it doesn't mean you can't. But for me the choice would be about getting the best pipe I can. If you have T-5's and can't get anything else because you have spent everything in your budget to get the Serval.....then run them till you can get something else. I don't know if I've seen any dyno numbers with T-5/Serval combos........... We have been waiting quite a while to get a flood of dyno info on the Serval.......but it just doesn't seam to be happening. I'm about fed up enough to build one for my wife's bike and see who will send me pipes to test on our dyno. I own most of them.... I'm open to any ideas......anyone got a Serval they want to lend for a full pipe battle? Maybe a site sponsor who wants to get some screen time in the dyno section will offer up a donor. (I'm sure my wife would love that.) I'd have time coming up soon this spring to spin the dyno all weekend. Our dyno has an O2 sensor, so we can even show the air/fuel ratio on the dyno runs. So we don't end up with people going on and on about how the motor should be jetted right for each pipe.) You get a baseline A/F number and jet each pipe to match the baseline. THEN your really doing some R+D testing! I'd like to see - Pro circuits T-5's Paul Turner's FMF Fatty's Rockets CPI SB Shearer SB I guess we would have to put Snipers on the list too. Some might think that testing pipes that you don't think will work would be a waste. But the real question is how much does the wrong pipe cost you power wise. One pipe might make more peak torque and another might make more peak HP. Or another pipe might make a better overall curve. That's why you test..... Me personally ...I'd just like to see how my FMF's, CPI's and my Shearers all stack up against each other on a Serval. My vote is SB Shearers till I see otherwise. I would even throw my BB CPI's on just for kicks. When you have a dyno....1/2 the fun becomes testing!

You just totally dated yourself....and me. Do you know how many people have no idea who Grizzly Adams is? I'm guessing almost anyone born after 1980. LOL. I don't think it's even in re-runs.... You be old. Me too.

Makes me wonder what this "Portable Heater" looks like. LOL. Just what is it being used to heat? When you use Vibrator and Heater in the same sentence.........I'm picturing a fish tank warmer that shakes!
-
What FOOL was running the damn camera? I'd say the camera man was the dumbest one in the bunch....standing there with all those punks aiming stuff at him with fingers on the triggers and no safeties. I heard the word N-Word so many times.....I think them just posting the video would classify as a hate crime. LOL.

MINT! Un-molested Banshee. All stock. Like new. Never had time to ride. Only ran 2 tanks of gas thru it....but the tires are somehow bald. Paid $6,800 new. Must sell. Just had serviced at dealer. Asking $5,000 FIRM! My loss is your gain. Will include open faced helmet and ride gloves.

S-E-R-V-A-L for the win!
-
How can you recommend the Snipers when you just posted on another post that you would like to try them? They are very nice looking pipes, but I haven't seen any info that would lead me to think that they will outperform the CPI's .......yet. From what I see, the debate is only "Pro Circuit vs. Shearer" and I think that comes down to overall setup and use needs. I'd say Small Bore Shearers.

Are blasters funny? It isn't like he's asking to trade for a car straight up.........that would be whack. But I don't see the in that post either.

I was there. I saw it all go down. (He was the only Banshee in the group) and I was hoping he would pull some major holeshot and get out front and make everyone go around him. (His stock bike was going up against some A-CLASS fully prepped 450's) He got a great holeshot.....but his front wheels were in the sky. so were the guys next to him. It all happened so fast I think we would need video to find blame. Reality is, rubbin' is racin' and two bikes with wheels up can't come down in the same space without resulting in a major "Yard Sale" like you went thru. WOW ! I didn't know you broke a rib! You looked a little sore when we were talking, but I didn't know you were THAT hurt. (Maybe you weren't feeling it all yet either.) Hope you heal up quick so you can get to tweaking that frame back into shape.

Nut molded in fuel tank is spinning
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to Chip M's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
On one tank I had I tried heating the threaded insert with my large soldering iron to soften the plastic and then let it cool around the insert to "Re-mold" it in place.......lasted 2 years before it spun again. If it dind't work I was going to just Crazy Glue/JB weld it. Now I own so many spare tanks I have enough to pitch the ones that break. -
and change your password.

John, good to find you on here. (We talked Banshee's the night of your wreck a the Sears center.) Glad you walked away from that one. Hope you find the info here that you need. PM me if you need anything. I'll be glad to help........

If this means your going to put it together and run it hoping for the best.......... People are letting you know now what your in for. Talk to Nickisgod about how that worked out for him. It worked out about the same as it did for me. If you want what the 535 cheetah promises to be....try building a 10 mill Serval cub. But DON'T slap that 535 together and go without getting it dialed in by a good builder. Tim at Titan Racing is one at the top of my list for fixing Trinity screw-ups. But these site members are recommending good people. Take their word for it. We're all trying to have your back.
-
I can see we're all sharing the love for our new site sponsor Trinity Racing. Wonder why Harry isn't chiming in and asking all of you (and me of course) who have a negative opinion of his company just why you feel that way. ( No, I'm not really wondering. We have a good idea why.) Sorry to hear you got suckered into buying that 535 kit. If it's not too late to return it.....I would. I'll sell you my 492 P.V. Cheetah for 1/2 what you paid. I'll even eat the shipping. Trinity = Raw Chicken Now that you bought it........your going to have to find someone who knows how to cook it right. I bet you thought you were going to just bolt it together. I'll promise you THAT won't end well. Good Luck.

It's not all that great. I prefer the other places you have been to over Rocky Glen. But we don't have a lot of choices for ride areas in IL, so sometimes variety wins over quality. For dirt riding my #1 pick is always the badlands. My #2 is Fox valley. My #3 is Ki track. I've done Rocky Glen once and that was enough for me. But if you haven't tried it.....what have you got to loose? Any time you can find people to ride with, you have a chance to have fun.

Identify this stator cover
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to Starwriter's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Just thought I'd chime in and say that I bought the "Mod Quad" version and it's nice.....BUT.....My Cascade Gear Slammer shifter doesn't fit with it. I had to put the stock shifter arm back on till I could find a different one that will fit, or mod the Cascade shifter. But on another note, that open cover gets a lot of attention everywhere I take it. Many mistake it for the clutch side till they get 3 steps past the bike and do a double take. -
Vitos Superstock or Wiseco Pro Lite?
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to esseclipse's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
True. Pistons don't burn holes in pistons, otherwise they would just burn up in the box. Guns don't kill people...People kill people. Pistons don't trash new motors...poor builders/poor jetting trash new motors. (Funny how everyone says 2 stroke motors can't be held wide open for very long....yet my 2-stroke leaf blower runs WIDE OPEN till both my yard and my neighbors are cleared of leaves every fall. That takes 2 tanks of fuel.) I'm guessing it's jetted fat. Plug chops and jetting.......it's the only way to make a carb know what to do. YOU are the bikes ECM. -
Vitos Superstock or Wiseco Pro Lite?
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to esseclipse's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
You'll make 8 more HP with the Vito's. They are made by Wiseco for Vito's. (So you ARE getting Wiseco's) I've run both and dyno'd both. Till you decide to get some porting done...buy the Vito's, make the extra 8 HP and spend less money to get the pistons. It's a win-win for you. -
Why Wont My Front Hubs Come Off?
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to bansh_88's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Sounds like the last owner tightend the snot out of hub nut before figuring out that was the wrong thing to do. I always put a little greese on the spindle before mounting everything as a form of anit-seize. With new bearings, you'll be good for a long time.
