13 to 1 is a good safe setting for sand. You can go a little leaner for MX.

RZ cylinder conversion
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to bubbasbanshee355's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
For you info stock banshee is some thing as 41 HP and stock RZ350 Canadian cylinder (31K) made 59 HP at 9000 rpm (published by Yamaha). See what I mean, once modified ... I expect mine very close to 70 HP if not already done. I need to run it on the dyno to confirm. If you wanted to make about 70HP with powervalves......You could have just bought a 472 4 mill Cheetah from Trinity Racing. Their stuff tops out at about 70HP. (68 to be exact) -

100mph drag/trail shee? is it possible?
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to purpbanshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Sorry....didn't mean to get off topic.... Back to the point of the last 3-4 pages........Most of you who are correcting spelling aren't using your CAPS after a period. Many don't use a CAP when describing themselves as "I". As for me.....I can't spell for crap, but I try. I also don't have much of a spell check, cause I'm too old to know how this bozo puter works, I just hunt, peck and send. But if I want to ask a question, I try to make it readable and understandable. and it helps if u dont do all yer postin an textn frum yer phone whit da lil thum keys. -

DING DING DING!!! Winnner Winner, Chicken Dinner! I can't believe we got this far without the stupid GPS backed statements. Where is the guy who claims he was radar tested by a cop? Your buddy DID NOT hit 90. They tested all the 450's against each other and the KTM was fastest and it wasn't even close to those speeds. It's not about HP, it's about RPM-GEAR RATIO-TIRE SIZE. If you gear and tire a bike to do 90+, it would have zero usefulness for any other kind of riding till you changed it all back. Plus once you gear and tire it that tall, you loose all the power you have to push it thru the wind. All debate on the issue aside.....with the simple, basic, tiny, entry level mods he listed.......My kids got a twin battery modded 24V Powerwheels jeep that could give him a run for his money. I could see where he's thinking about doing a 4mill. We've got strong running 370 long rod bikes and 4 mill full ported dune bikes is our group that can't hit 90+ spinning a stationary dyno wheel, even if you let it rev to 11,000+. Before you hit 100MPH.....you'll hit your crank/rod as it exits the cases. For all the chatter these topics get....why is there no video of a kid blasting past a police roadside radar sign? Come on.......somebody give us something other than the "My buddy's-neighbors-friends-brother had a built something or another and he paced it against a car and was going like 114" VIDEO OR STFU! -

I'm hoping everyone gets snowed in and we have a 100 year ice storm. LMAO. I'll be making service calls on my snowmobile. I tried new plugs, swapping wires side to side, put my spare coil on, cleaned carbs, went back to my old jetting. (Even though it was too cold for that to be right) Finally just called it quits and loaded in up and went home. (It was getting damn cold Sunday afternoon.)....hoping it's just a broke reed or a stuck ring. We'll see............ -
You can do it on a car dyno. (Mailman has done it plenty of times. He's also run his on Doug's ATV dyno over at D+M.) Your runs will be longer due to the fact that the wheels weigh more. But the dyno is set up to read that just fine. The hard part is getting your wheels wide enough to hit the rollers. You might need to go with a hard offset rims and wheel spacers. I dyno'd my kids raptor 80's on our ATV dyno. I think they hit @ 3 hp. You wouldn't think the ATV dyno would read that low, but we also did a moped that made 1.37HP. If your dynoing...do the A/F readings. It will get your jet settings perfect alot faster. You'll see room for BIG improvements in your piot jetting. Also play with your air screws. They make a bigger difference in your overall tune that most people would think.

Banshee Hill Shooter in HS Suspended chassis
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to Saleenster's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
Should have sold it last year when you had a buyer. Now the markets dropped. Did you ever get it ported or did you just freshen it up? -
Lonestar You don't need to get longer brake lines. (I'm running stock lines on the wife's bike right now.) But longer lines will look and fit better. If you have the coin to get them, I would. There is a nice set of +3+1 long travels in Chrome with the AWESOME works shocks in the classifieds section......I think it was $1,000 for the entire package. That's a killer deal when you figure the shocks value. Wish I had the coin right now to grab that deal. Damn Christmas...........

WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to purpbanshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Good God....Can we just BAN the use of the words "100 MPH" on this site please? Here we go with another batch of people who are going to go on and on about the speeds they've hit. Nobody over 25 years of age ever asks this stuff. (cause they are smart enough to not ask these questions) If a CanAm 800 "Made you" build a 4 mill....don't ride anywhere popular....You might have to build a 18 mill DMX. Who cares what your MPH is in the 1/4 ? It's the lowest ET that wins. Let me guess, your still running a stock swingarm and you think your building a wicked 1/4 miler. I don't think that anyone would find pride in out running a CanAm 800 and it sure won't take 100MPH to do it. :jesterlaugh: :jesterlaugh: Welcome to the site. :jesterlaugh: :jesterlaugh: -

WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to WINDYCITYJOHN400's topic in Riding and Events Forum
Ok, somethings up......I rode Fox Valley for the 3rd weekend in a row and today the left cylinder just wouldn't stay running. I had gone way up on my jetting due to the cold. I tried backing it down to where it was before...but it still wasn't running quite right. I'm too swamped with heating work to spend much time going through it right now, so it looks like I'm calling it a season and focusing on being a heating guy. Gotta chase that coin. So I'm backing out of my plan to try and hit the Badlands. Sucks, but at least I didn't blow it up or burn it down. Gonna check the reeds and the rings....I don't think it's anything big, but I don't feel like thrashing this week to make a trip next weekend and then end up parking it for the winter. I'm going get the bike all cleaned up, then I'll do my winter teardown/inspection on the bike when things get slow during the holidays. Sorry, but if anyone wants to plan a ride...........take the lead, keep the post going and get a date planned. I'll join you in the spring. -
Good Job! Way to go putting yourself between the barbed wire fence and your banshee. Remember...you'll grow back, the bike won't .

I'm 41....you don't know the half of it. Just wait. At this age you don't heal......you just mend. In your teens you don't worry. In your 20's you think " Oh, that's going to leave a mark." In your 30's you think " That's going to take a while to heal......Dang, that really hurts" In your 40's you think " I'm going to feel some version of this pain every morning for the rest of my life." In your 50's you think " I can move everything...but just let me lay here for a few minutes...Load my machine up for me will ya? I'm done....No, Seriously I'm done. My shits for sale. Maybe I'll get a side x side....." In your 60's you think "Wow, what a nice day to play golf...I think I'll drive the cart to save wear on my knees/hips." If your in your 70's, a site member and reading this........ Wow!

Well, for me it has to be Sat. the 26th. Sunday is no good for me. I'm going to cement my plan once I see a better idea of what the weather will be like. (I'll most likely make up my mind on Thursday.) By then the forecast will be close enough for it to be 50% correct. Just hoping I can fit in one more ride before I hybernate the bikes for the winter. Anybody wanna come play? Last chance to roll your machine or blow it up before the off season. Gotta have something to do over the winter. -
421 Serval w/R-2's vs Shearer Small Bore Dyno #'s
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to SuperMex's topic in Product Reviews
Well I think we would ALL like to see the Snipers tested against SOMETHING.....But Gary can't seem to make a run anywhere. So you did a butt dyno test of the R-2's against the CPI's? (Were the CPI's Big bore or small?) I know my 492 Cheetah liked the SB Shearers vs. the BB CPI's to the tune of 14HP! I got the same numbers with the Shearer BB too. But the front side curve looked a little stronger with the SB, so I'm running them. So till I hear otherwise.....I'm a Shearer guy. -

I wonder if Jaymes is going to read this?.....Nope. It dosen't have "Trinity " in the post name. Maybe one of the Loyal Trinity fans could forward it to Jaymes so he could come on here and tell everyione about how this never happens. Lesson learned.......Get your Servals and other parts from a DIFFERENT site sponser. So is anyone ever going to dyno the R-2's with a Serval? I wouldn't normaly give them the time of day....but with this Serval motor we have to start from scratch and try everything till we KNOW what does and doesn't work. -

Guess we can see what a bang up job Trinity is doing to get better and bring back their image. Figaro, you can't say I didn't warn you about Trinity. I bet the money came out of your account right away....but shipping.... Don't go holding your breath. (Don't worry, Jaymes says they always try they're best to make it right....So I'm betting he throws a couple more Trinity stickers into the shipment whenever they get around to sending it out.) NOTE: If you paid any extra for faster shipping, you won't get any refund due to it NOT getting to you on time. There they go, servin up more Raw Chicken. -
I was hoping to go this weekend.....but the whole place is rented out for some damn extreme foot race. So I'm hitting Fox Valley Off-Road for the third weekend in a row. I'm sure after this ride Sunday I'll be happy to not see it again till next year. Anyone thinking of going to the Badlans soon? I was thinking about maybe shooting for Sat. the 26th......... Pretty sure that would be my season ender, cause I'm not chasing my jetting into the 30's. LOL.

KOSO has a nice one too.

Is a Yfz 450 frame lighter than stock banshee?
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to thomas h.'s topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Banshee manual says that the J-arms weighed 407 and the A's weighed 410 bone stock. I know I weighed my mildly modded shee a few years back. It had toomeys, +4 axle, works shocks, nerfs, douglas rims and a cheap Ebay +6 swingarm. It weighed in at 380 even. So No way is 337 an accurate measurement. Heck my full chromoly dune bike with a JJ+A billet axle and all the goodies is 301. (I'm about ready try running helium in the tires, cause I REALLY want to see 299.) LOL. The SICK part of this, is that a NEW LT-450 weighs in at 415+. So much for aluminum frames and technology saving weight. -
why are my carb boots already cracked?
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to eldreder's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Any chance they have been sprayed with brake cleaner? I used to clean all the dirt/oil off the motor with brake cleaner till I learned that it dries and cracks seals and other things made of rubber. Other than that....No I've only heard of older stock boots cracking. Face it some of those stock parts like Carb boots, stators, flywheels, brake lines, motor mounts are getting a little on the old side. But a NEW set of boots should outlast at least a set of pistons. LOL. -
He's got three cylinders on his motor. That's why.

I bought some chicken that was served raw. I tried to choke it down, but I couldn't. I finaly had to send it back to the kitchen. They sent me back a fresh plate of the same raw chicken. It was a bigger piece, but I still couldn't eat it. (The people in that Kitchen think that because they sell hundreds of chickens every day, I'm just a picky customer.) I talked to many top chefs who had advice as to how to best cook that chicken. I took some of that advice and the chicken started to taste alot better after just a little custom seasoning. Some peoples chicken was cooked just fine. But I've met MANY people who suffered the same food poisoning from eating at that place. Funny...they all got the same raw chicken. From what I've read....I understand.......Cam and D+M are very good with the Webber grill. Sorry, once I get served raw chicken twice.... Cause more raw chicken ain't a "Fix" -
trinity pv motor vs stock cyl 4mill
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to sangheraent's topic in General Banshee Discussion
It is correct that Trinity owned the rights to the Cheetah P.V. design. But I'm 99% sure that rights to it have expired. I'm pretty sure that any CP dealer can now buy the Cheetah set-up from Calvin. I think that the main issue, is that most builders don't favor that design. The price is also higher than the other cylinder designs due to the added machine work for the powervalves. Then you add in the fact that with Trinity holding the rights this whole time.....you didn't have other builders trying things and doing R+D on the cylinders. So other designs have leapfrogged the Cheetah because more builders have worked to find out what the other cylinders like. I know a rare few like the design....but when the manuacturer of the cylinder, refers to it as "Obslolete"..........................
