  4. That looks about perfect to me. Plugs usually take a few mins of run time to get some color, if those were brand new plugs with no run time and you got that much color on them on just one run you may be slightly rich and the plugs would darken up quite a bit after riding for a few more runs.
  5. As long as you know you will need to purge your bike , keep your alky fresh and don't let moisture get into it etc then try it. You will see most gains with it due to being able to run 175-190 lbs of compression and a couple more degrees of timing. If you don't do any of that you will see very little gain. I run the same plugs BR8ES but with a .018 gap , a lot more timing , and lots more compression. If you have a friend who can help you that knows alky it can be tuned in 5 mins especially if you have lectrons.
  6. Stock 14/41 gearing or a bit lower like a 42,43,44 rear is hard to beat. If you find when you upshift the next gear seems like a big jump then gearing down will put each gear a bit closer.
  7. i'm assuming you are running a +10 or 12" swingarm. Thats a bit too high for gearing probably on a gas motor by a bit. Thats fine gearing for an alky motor launching in 2nd gear with 12 extremes. I think 14/43 or 14/44 will get you rolling good out of the hole but you might have to use 1st gear. I have a 421 Cub too with a 10 over and 12 extremes. Vid from 2 weeks ago.
  8. Yep I've had near the same setup a couple times. I know you aren't gonna have a 19" dune tire but other than that jetting should be right about right. I ran a 48 pilot and my 421 jetted perfectly on the dyno ended up with a 148 mainjet. I ran around for a long time with a 155 main but picked up 11 hp goin down 3 jet sizes.
  9. i've had race gas mess with me as well. Even had yellow rings not brown. If the plug on the right was a pretty new plug it wont show color sometimes til it's used a mile or two. If you want to switch carbs from one side to the other. Then switch plug wires might have a bad sparkplug boot as well. different things to try.
  10. X2 good info there. You also wanna make sure with the ring in the cylinder that you have a 10 to 12 thousandths ring gap with the new rings in the cyl. I think if you sync the carbs you will see em both start smoking the same as well.
  11. Big problem no not really. Its more than likely the head gasket or your oring leaking coolant into the combustion chamber. Check/ replace the head gasket or fix the oring if you have an aftermarket head.
  12. If its just got a lotta rides on it it may just be rings. As far as if you need pistons or rings, Andy at M&M atv is a site sponsor and has em. Replating is a few hundred and Millennium Technologies is who I've had do mine. Andy may be able to hook you up and the replating.

I had mine jack me up for a year and a half, it just never made the power it should up top.I spent hundreds in caps, coil,CDI, 3 sets of domes, base gaskets, and dozens of hours tuning etc. Finally tuning it on a dyno it made the same HP over a wide rpm range 8,000-10,500 it just flatlined and made the same HP at 8K as it did at 10K. Nate McCoy said "you have a ricky stator don't you?". I put on a stocker and it made 18 more hp. A 20 min fix I fought for 1 1/2 yrs.
  15. Ya there's a rustoleum silver in a rattlecan that matches it perfectly I think walmart has it. That's how my 03 silver frame is done matches perfect.
  16. Yes. Those last 8 cylinder nuts aren't too bigga deal compared to everything else u take off but you can leave it together if u want.

  19. I've seen more than one person try to put the pitons in backwards with the ports forward toward the pipes not toward the intakes like its supposed to be. If you have the piston box and it says 68mm blaster pistons and you don't have a longrod crank then you will have no compression and have about 270 thousandths squish and It won't wanna run for sure.

  21. I think u are going to have better luck with a 45 pilot,CEL needle leaned out/dropped 1 clip from the middle and about a 145,148,150 main since you are at 3000 ft elevation. Why the 100 degree temp I can't figure out. You never said what needles that's important as some pwks come with wierd needles made for 80-250cc dirtbikes. Radar
  22. Pistons in backwards? Blaster pistons instead of banshee pistons? MO 573 series blaster. Pistons are used for longrod 115mm stock stroke cubs. Banshee pistons are used in stock 110mm rod apps. Did it pass a leakdown test?
  23. Ya I'll be there look for the bigfoot sized guy ridin the black+10 shee with inframes on alky. We also have a couple KTM quads one is a turbo on alky and an all Black 813cc Kenz Raptor with a +8 swingarm, and a green KX500 tecate with an out of frame cpi pipe.
