  1. I've had stockers, works dual rates, Elka tripple rates with rezzies and now YFZ450 shocks. I have always ran a +2+1 front end. I would rate the Elkas the best, then the yfz 450s followed by works then stockers. Also, I wouldn't spend $400 works, when you can spend $200 on a nice set of 450 shocks. If your just going to run a stock front end forever, then go with a dune edition Elka. They will cost you about as much as Works and you will be getting a better shock.
  2. I would go with a FAST clutch with new inner and outer hubs. The hubs are cheap, might as well replace them. The clutch is a little more expensive than most, but theres a reason for that. If you wanted to setup him up with everything he needs, get him a billet basket to go with it, FAST has those too. 1-785-364-5325
  3. Try dropping your rear down to a 40 or 41.
  4. It should work fine. You will have to zip tie the heat shield on your stingers. I zip tied mine on and haven't had any trouble with them yet.
  5. It may work out for you. All I can tell you is that I have had the 450 swap and ended up swaping back to the banshee +2+1 setup. Let us know how it works for ya!
  6. I don't think you can run a 4mil crank with a 392. You will have to buy 421 cylinders.
  7. I bought a set of Elka tripple rates with piggy backs that were 16.5" long. According to Elka, they were for yfz, 250r and raptor. They were perfect ride hieght and worked excellent. If I were you I wouldn't even buy shocks for the arms, I would just switch over to banshee suspension. I just didn't like the way the 450 front end turned.
  8. His screen name on here is FASTOYS and his shop number is 785-364-5325. You should talk to him before you buy any parts. You might want to build a completely different motor. Like a 4mil motor or different type of portwork.
  9. Thats hilarious, I thought my dad was the only anal prick worried about the garden hose or extension cord getting ran over! hahah
  10. The hiems will start to squeak after a while, thats really the only reason I would go with ball joints over hiems.
  11. You don't have to spend $50 bucks on header wrap. I wrapped exhaust heat shield around my stingers. It works great and only costs $10 bucks a sheet. You will only need one sheet to effectively wrap both stingers if need be. I personally wouldn't zip tie my filters together. I would think that would add stress to the boots and eventually cause them to crack. Thats just my opinion though. How are you burning plug wires?
  12. I have a 4mil dune port from Jeff that flat out boogies. Call him up and talk it over with him. He can point you in the right direction.
  13. I had a set of LTR shocks and couldn't get them to fit on my bike when I had the yfz conversion. It wasn't even close to fitting, although I have seen a few guys on here run them. I'm not quite sure how they pulled that off.
  14. There is a guy on here that made one. His screen name is nitrotate. Go to the members tab and search for him. Send him a pm and he will hook you up with exactly what your asking for. Oh, and merry christmas.
  15. Tim makes top notch stuff! Whichever arms you decide to use, I would recomend the ball joints over the hiems.
  16. Check your transmission gears. I fixed one for my buddy a couple of weeks ago that wouldn't shift out of second. The only thing I could find wrong with it was a little chip out of the gears.
  17. What tires are working for you guys in the snow/slush/mud combo.
  18. The 450 shocks work pretty good on my +2+1 arms, I haven't even rode a J arm bike so I can't help you there. If it were me, I would buy 450 shocks before I bought works. I've had both and just wasn't impressed with the works at all.
  19. If you have Tim make you a set of J arms, ask him if he can make them so that they fit the 450 shocks. The 450 shocks are a pretty nice economical upgrade. I wouldn't ever buy works again after having a set of elkas.
