Check to make sure you don't have any wires touching the frame anywhere causing it to ground out. Also eliminate any TORS or parking brake wires you have.
A dremel with a stainless wire wheel will shine your cases up just like that. Depending on how bad your cases are to start with, you will need at least two or three to get the job done.
Here is the leak down kit I put together. It works ok, but I would get some rubber caps to put over the exhaust rather than try to stuff the rubber groments in there. The exhaust isn't round and they are hard to get a seal.
