  1. im from herefordshire, west mids, i race mx on my 06 shee, in fact im racing on sunday in mid wales, hopefully get some pics on here!
  2. hey adam, where abouts are ya in the UK? im west midlands, yeh i have to import all the cool stuff for the shee from the us, like my T5 tommey pipe kit, they get my vote, i ride woods and mx, but now ive got the 450 front end, which makes its a bitch to steer round the trees and stumps, so its mx tracks every weekend for me now! heres a pipe shootout from the duncan website http://www.duncanracing.com/misc/3-4WAction_sept95_2.pdf and the part 2 is here, with a summary of what pipe is best for what! http://www.duncanracing.com/misc/3-4WAction_nov95.pdf
  3. cheers guys for the comments, yeh was a good day, had a alot of people in the crowd rooting for me on the a long steep hill where those t5s were singing away, sort of the underdog, 2 stoke vs the 4 bangers. The lad on the tri-z is a top rider in quads, he just rode that for a laugh, did well thou, ive put 1.5 inch spacers on the back, my 450 shocks are in uk customs today, and my a arms get delivered tomorrow, also my all balls tie rod kit for the grizzly came today, so its all coming together nicely! next mx race is the 31st may, so look out 4strokes!
  4. heya guys, did my first race on my banshee across the pond here in the UK about 2weeks ago, did well got two 2nds, then in my last last race lost spark thanks to my wonderful ricky piece of crap stator!! Here are the links to the photos from the pro photographer that was there on the day. I was up against some top quads, 3 yam 450s, 3 susuki 450s, etc Im planning on riding mx this year, im putting the 450 front end on next week, been a nightmare trying to find 450 arms and shocks here, its all as rare as rocking horse shit! so ive had to buy all the parts from the US! Mad! Never seen another banshee on a mx track yet, 4 stroke rules over here, but i get loads of attention and respect for riding these old things! currently i have T5s, no air box, k+N, 4+ timing and a gytr race cdi
  5. im currently trying to source all the parts to do this to mine, its a 06, im using my standard spindles, but what about the tie rods? do you go for 450 tie rods, or grizzly?
  6. well i did put it on a straight edge, and i was sure that it was slightly out. But whilst i was at work today, my old man had a look, and he(and old skool motocrosser) reckons its fine, and i should just put the new gasket on and go try it! so thats the plan! cheers!
  7. well tonight i whipped the tank off and checked all my lines, pretty sure they are correct, as they are different sizes, but to note the hose from bottom on my expansion tank, (that goes to the top of the rad next to the rad cap), somehow was wedged under my airbox and rear shock mount, pinching it tight, it was pretty tight in there and took some pulling out, no doubt this would be causing some issues. My bike melted a piston 2weeks ago, hence my new rebuild on sat morn, but its was pushing out water before, and still is now. So im thinking due to the intense heat, i may have warped my head, so i took that off tonight aswell. I put it on my steel workbench which is flat, and there is slight rocking motion, if i press with my finger on the front bolt recess next to where the rad hose connects, it lifts the back side ever so slightly. Rang my yam dealer early this morning thou, the guy i always deal with there used to personally race banshees in mx, and pretty sure won the Pont De Vaux enduro a few times, he was confident that my problem was the head gasket, so ive got that on the way and he has heads in stock for £30, so il prob get one aswell. Hopefully be sorted by the weekend! Keep you posted
  8. ive had the same prob, but was CDI, which then fryed my stator at the same time! then it happened again, and i went ape! turned out a soldered wire on my new ricky stator had bust off, cutting the spark, so check first!
  9. hey man, i was just about to launch my own thread, as i have the same prob, just had a rebuild, rebored to 64.25 and new pistons and rings but it was doing it before, its pissing out on to my t5s when riding the mx track here! ive got a stock motor apart from the pipes. hopefully ive got a line mixed up? il have to whip the tank off this week and have a look and try and get it sorted for this weekend. If its no that, a new head gasket then?
  10. yeah sorry mate, i mean the plugs have a bit of carbon on them, not the carbs, they are fine! ive ordered a pair of 280 main jets aswell as 310s-didnt have 320s so hopefully il be alright with that! cheers for your help, il let you know in a week if it all goes well!
  11. well okay the carbs do have a bit of carbon build up, but its easily rubbed off, but i think this maybe down to my fuel oil ratios. The guy i bought it off told me to run it 25:1. Ive just put 10L in the tank at the 32:1 ratio so this should be better i would of thought?! so what main jet do i need? do i need to change the pilot jet? any other settings i need to adjust for these pipes? many thanks for your help!
  12. as for mods, my bike is completely stock apart from the K&N filter, the T5s are currently being delivered. I took the carbs off, (my haynes manual came today!) and my main jet is stamped with 200. The pilot jet i believe was stamped 2.8. So do i up the main jet to 250? I will get on the phone tomorrow and order a jet kit from my local off road supply store. cheers!
  13. well elevation where my home is 200 on the england/wales border with forests and hills i ride on my doorstep are up to 600. I forgot to mention that it already has a large K&N filter. Also i bought a haynes manual for the banshee last week off ebay, so that should be here soon!
  14. hello all, im new to this forum, new to quads, and new to banshees! i recently bought a 06 banshee about 3weeks ago, although im over the moon with the fun factor, speed and performance i was disapointed with the sound, as it was quiet compared to my riding buddies motocross bikes 2strokes on fmf/pro curcuit power pipes. so after a little research (15mins!) i jumped in the deep end and bought a second hand set of Toomey T5 pipes from USA. They are due to arrive this week, now after further research it seems that a carb rejet is the thing to do, and not just a bolt on job! whats the best thing to do, contact Toomey USA direct and get their proper jets or what? ive never altered anything in a carb before! so im a little nervous to start fiddling with it! cheers in advance for and help!
