  1. Awesome man ! How much travel did you gain ?, and are you gonna show us some close up pics ?
  2. Yes "Rocket" is the brand, and I must forewarn you that there is a lot of "dramma" surrounding these pipes. Some people will tell you they are junk and some will say they're awesome. The only thing I can say is that, if you are going from a stock bike to a RZ with Rockets, is Hang on Tight! As for obtaining a set of these pipes, check their site, I think it's www.rocketpipes.com or put a message in the want section.
  3. Yes, the RZ engine will bolt right in it's almost exactly the same as the banshee engine. They do, however have different internal transmission gearing ( wider ratio ) so it would be best to use the banshee tranny gears within your RZ cases. You would also need to eliminate the oil injection.
  4. Yeah, it's worth it. Mostly depends on what your truly after. There are other PV'cylinders out there such as Cheetah's, and T-Rex's, but they are expensive and I would say that they are more aimed at the drag racers. If you are truly looking for an all around quad and like tinkering RZ's are a great choice. With the right porting, pipes, reeds and carbs, maybe even a stroker, they can hit the 85 - 90 hp, so there is potential with them. I decided this route just because they were factory Yamaha pieces, and really not into drag racing. There are several components you will need to come up with, such as - complete topend, including the head and all the nuts, and all the powervalve parts - stator, flywheel - cdi box - powervalve control box - power valve servo and cables - wiring diagrams, ( I have those ) - RZ 350 manual, such as haynes or clymers - pipes that will clear the powervalve pulley housing on the left cylinder ( unless you like to take a hammer to the ones you have ). Stock pipes will clear but won't do the the RZ cylinders any justice. The "Rocket" pipes will clear and the "NEW" version of the "Rocket" pipes will clear and are supposed to make more power. I bought parts and pieces for my RZ swap ( which still isn't done ) but if I had to do it again, I would probably just by a complete running bike like a 86 - 90 Candian version and then part the rest out on E-Gay. If all this sounds too much for You, then just get a good port job on your stock cylinders. Mike.
  5. My point being that it would draw more riders from our state an neighboring states to come ride the dunes. Don't get me wrong, I love Silver lake, but after riding there for several consecutive years the place does start to get boring, and crowded. If they opened up the rest of the dunes, it would bring more people to this state to ride them, thus bringing / spending more money.
  6. I am going to be making some here in the near future, how soon are you needing them ?
  7. I could ride sit down wheelies on my old 92 Banshee from 1st all the thru 5th gear pinned and let off in 6th. I was getting a lil' scared that fast wheelie-ing on pavement, but it was all stock on a 5+ yr old top end. It had a factory replacement K & N filter that didn't seal for crap and the compression was a little low, I could kick start it by hand LOL, but it was reliable and ran good.
  8. I am assuming that you guys are talking about a triple exhaust port ? . If this were the case, and I don't want to try and push my ideas on anybody, but I would use some RZ cylinders and weld the powervalves in solid. I am sitting here right now looking at both RZ and banshee cylinders and the RZ's have quite a bit more aluminum around the exhaust area( including the valves ), leading me to believe that it would be easier to do. I would probably even consider a "big reed" conversion. I think that it would be possible to do that and with lots of welding and grinding externally, I think you could disguise them as banshee cylinders to the lesser trained eye. you would of course have to run a Pro Design cool head to keep it from being to obvious. You also wouldn't need all the electronics. That is my future plan on building a drag engine with "stock" appearing cylinders. I would even go as far as either welding up the bottom surface of the cylinders or welding the top surface of the case, Either way would do the same, and then have them resurfaced to disguise the possibility of a spacer while using a 7 or 10 mm stroker. I could imagine a set up like this would be pretty pricey, yet stealthy. You would probably hang with some Cubs, if not, run them down and have them wondering what the hell just happened ? What do you guys think ?
  9. I would assume that they are 66.50 mm.
  10. I agree. IMO a banshee should be treated as a twin with twin carbs and twin pipes.
  11. He did mention in the first post that he was using a 400ex linkage, but I am not that familiar with the ex linkage ratio vs. the stock Banshee linkage ratio. I wonder how well this shock set up would work with the ratio of an Elka link. Seems like that should be feesible to keep the cost down for a long travel conversion.
  12. A pair of 30 - 33 PWK's are gonna net you the most mid to top power from your set up at the expense of having 2 carbs to buy and tune. A single 35 PWK is going to be a real good bottom to mid set up with a slightly less top end, and there might be some savings there. The single is also gonna be much easier to work on and or much easier on your thumb.
  13. Seems like our STUPID FUCKIN' state would do damn near anything to get the economy back up and rollin' , but hell no we are a one state depression arround here. We have had some really awesome governors here, mostly the last and present. :shoothead: I'm sure our wonderful auto industry has a tad bit to do with it. Seems like our states idea of boosting the economy, is charging more at the gas pumps. This fuckin' place is rediculous. As for the sparkies, what the hell you gonna catch on fire out in the sand dunes ?, possibly a vehicle or ORV, big fuckin' deal.
  14. There is a lot more dunes than what we are allowed to ride on at Silver lake. Just look at an aerial photo of the Silver Lake area. There used to be one at that little convenient store at the " Y " intersection and the total dunes area is quite big, but our state is extremely GAY !, and has everybody packed in a small portion of what's there. That would be one thing that could help boost our states economy, is to expand the dunes to more riding area and or even opening up Sleeping Bear dunes for ORV use, hell, even open the designated snowmobile trails up for ORV use. We would have alot more people coming here to ride and spending money.
  15. Hey Loco, I have read some time ago, that you were less than impressed with your 12 port, but what would you say is wrong with his work, just out of curiosity ?
  16. I'm extremely anxious to get my cylinders and crank back from Jim and try out my Rockets also.
  17. I am not 100% positive on this but I think when they are ported for the spacer plate that the bottom of the ports - exhaust and transfers are lowered more-so and the tops not raised so much. When ported for standard base gasket and cut domes the ports are lowered and raised both. and the domes are cut with a 2mm recess to allow clearance for the pistons. The thicker base gasket or spacer plate is the cheaper way to go, mostly for people that want to stuff 4mil cranks in without the porting. The standard base gasket and custom cut domes is a litlle bit more expensive route, but will keep the stealth factor and is the preffered way to go. As for measuring your ports you should measure from the head mounting surface to the tops of your exhaust and transfers and then measure again from the head mounting surface to the bottom of your exhaust and transfers. Experienced people will be able to tell you if it was ported for a spacer or domes. Hope this helps Mike.
  18. Jeez Firehead, What the heck do you do ?

  20. These need to go ! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...E:IT&ih=020
  21. Egay wouldn't let me relist without being charged again on my bike.....I was really pissed ! I think it's free of charge when you relist an item if it doesn't sell.
  22. I had the same problems with trying to sell my FZR on Egay...........People from out of the country would click on buy it now even though it was stated that sells to U.S. lower 48 only. One thing that I have learned is, when listing big expensive items with a lot of pics and what not, the real expensive listings, I don't use a buy it now price anymore to avoid that kinda crap. I just set my reserve at what I would be willing to sell for and when I get questions about the reserve price I will usually give it, or have it in the listing. I also block all buyers with crappy feedback and out of country.
  23. If you lived near Central Michigan all you would have to do is get hooked up with a full blooded Native American and have several kids. I think full blooded Natives get better than a grand a week without having to work for it. The kids get quite a bit also. Finally figured out how to post pics.............Thanks, Meat, for all the help.
  24. I have a nice set of stock cylinders and head for sale. I bought them earlier this year and was told that they were from an "06". The intake bridges and transfer dividers have been knife edged. The exhausts have been smoothed also but the cylinders do not appear to have any major port alterations. All I have is a digital caliper to measure bores with ( I know not the most accurate ) and they come to 64.70mm so there should be quite a bit of life left. I would like $ 325.00 plus shipping for them. Mike
  25. I want a $ 1,000,000.00 ! I don't care if it's coin or paper, clean or dirty, large or small, I'll take it all. <center> <a href="http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z101/RZBansheeMan/a_million_dollar_pile.jpg" target="_blank"> <img src="http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z101/RZBansheeMan/th_a_million_dollar_pile.jpg"></a> <a href="http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z101/RZBansheeMan/1000000.jpg" target="_blank"> <img src="http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z101/RZBansheeMan/th_1000000.jpg"></a> </center>
