I would have to agree with Dave for the most part... It would be nice if the pipe builder could supply a spec card for the specified pipe / engine combination for the original purchaser, but if the original purchaser should sell them, then that info should be passed along or shared between him / her and the next potential owner. So that should come down to the next purchaser to do their homework / inquiries and if the the original purchaser cannot supply the info, then maybe the deal should be avoided. Ultimately not holding the pipe designers / builders responsible for such nonsense if original purchaser should be passing along a product without proper info / specs.. Just my thoughts, Mike

I'm no expert at two strokes, but with the pressure waves moving back and forth, isn't that inertia supercharging ??? I also am curious to know if Jim is going to be not so useful with his time and develop a 2:1 Sniper dune pipe ?????

Bigger carbs vs. bottom end performance
RZBansheeMan replied to SLORYDER's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I think that this subject has a multitude of answers / theories / explanations.... I am no expert to Banshee's by any means, but I would think that since stocker carbs will produce upwards of 70 hp, that most builds would not require a bigger carb other then just to say you have bigger carbs.... Now as for the bigger carb vs. bottom end loss, I think the loss usually happens because people may be putting bigger carbs on a engine that doesn't require a bigger carb. I believe that bottom end can be retained or gained with the use of bigger carbs with proper porting, proper intakes, proper pipes, proper air filter, proper compression / squish, and proper ignition timing. I don't think that just putting bigger carbs on and jetting them down is the right idea for trying to retain bottom end, unless maybe you have the throttle adjusted so the slides don't open all the way.... Just my thoughts Mike -
Not another story about those HOMO BANSHEE BOYZ
-
Just buy a set get 'em on there jet it and hold on !!!! Trust me, you WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED . They have decent bottom, Hella mid-range, and Hella top-end. I had mine on a stock motor with just timing bumped +4.......Hella awesome pipes !

I don't think you will be disappointed either way, but I would probably grab the new improved R2's if your gonna shell out the coin !!!
-
Get yourself some "Rockets" or the newly released "R2's" !! You will grin from ear to ear !!

I would have to agree that they are a good kit, however it is a must to use "anti-seize" on stainless fasteners. I had worked in the stainless fabrication industry for several years and we had plenty of anti-seize on hand. Stainless will "gall" very easily with out the stuff especially stainless to stainless fasteners, once they gall, your in trouble. Mike

I will be posting some pics and doing a write up and sharing info here fairly soon, I am in the middle of doing my RZ conversion right now, just waiting on some parts just yet. Mike

Rocket pipe sparkies for cheap
RZBansheeMan replied to RZBansheeMan's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Well it's not any different " appearing " then the moose spark arrestor inserts that they sell at David Allen Racing store in Silver Lake. The moose ones are at least $ 20.00 and have a tighter mesh then my Home Depot specials, meaning they won't flow as well as the $ 2.00 drain screens. The other difference is that the moose inserts come with a forestry approved sticker. I let my nephew borrow mine and take it up there, he said " they just looked at it, looked around them and just waived him in". My experience with these at Silver Lake so far is that the DNR officers at the dune entrance, have what looks like a 18" piece of flag pole that they stick in your silencer to make sure it's not straight through, ultimately checking for a spark arrestor within the silencer. They went to stick the prober in the silencer but realized it was arrested at the back and just waived me in. Mike -
new pipes, just released
RZBansheeMan replied to Borrink Performance's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
I definitely am very interested in purchasing a set in the future, I just hope to not see these pipes end up in the ownership of the wrong hands like the Rockets and then get all the bad craftsmanship or publicity before they really have a fair chance. -
I have not done this swap yet I want to,......but from what I have seen: 1 - The 450 frame is narrower in the front putting the A-arm pivots closer together. 2 - The 450 front end has a bit more rake to it than the Banshee. 3 - When doing this swap, it puts the lower shock mount out further than standard Banshee shock mounts which in turn lays your shock down a bit, which I don't think is the greatest idea either. I think if someone was willing to hack up a Banshee frame to make the mounting points near the same as the 450 the swap would probably work OK, I plan on trying it with my extra roller at some point. To just stick the arms on and start swapping the tops from side to side is just kinda dumb !! So IMO modify the Banshee frame to put things back in their correct geometry then come post the handling and steering results. Mike

Rocket pipe sparkies for cheap
RZBansheeMan replied to RZBansheeMan's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Maybe the next thing to do is....... scan some forestry approved silencer stickers, and have some printed up to stick on the inner side of the silencers to really make it look legit. -
Look on eGay.....there are several of them

Rocket pipe sparkies for cheap
RZBansheeMan replied to RZBansheeMan's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Michigan state law, sparkies are required on all state land including dunes or trails.... -
Well last summer when I was getting ready for Silver Lake, I had to come up with some sparkies for my Rockets really quick, so this is what I did and it was really cheap. When I got to Silver Lake, and was ready to head up the dune entrance, the DNR officer looked at it and waived me through. I had this up there a few times like this and was never questioned once about it. This cheap mod may work for other pipes also. First I went to Home depot and bought a stainless steel drain screen : I had pulled the end caps off my silencers - taken a dremel with a cutting wheel and slit the core in 4 places obviously all opposing. I then carefully pinched them in just a bit : I then slid the drain screen over the silencer core and just slightly reshaped so it looked legit : Then I just reinstalled the cap...simple as that and it worked for me : What do you guys think ??

Not REALLY Banshee related BUT
RZBansheeMan replied to Ieat4strokes's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Congrats on the purchase, let's see some pics of him all geared up and sitting on it !! Maybe adjust the throttle so it can't open all the way. I remember an old bike of mine....a 1984 CR 60r what a nasty lil fucker that thing was for a 60...LOL -
They look the same as mine, but I bought mine like 3 yrs ago.......

First and foremost the Rocket's never got the recognition they they truly deserved due to all the drama (between designer / ownership) followed by some later poor craftsmanship and delivery times, which is really too bad. They are a very unique looking pipe for sure, they may be a lil big and bulky, but it seems to me as if they are between a big / small bore pipe and they way outperform the T-5's hands down. My personal experience with them is no loss of bottom end, huge mid and very excellent top. Some will argue CPI's are better, some will argue the Rocket's are better, I however can not state one way or another. I think it has more to do with the build of the motor. I would also say that the Rocket's are not Drag pipes, but maybe more of a all round pipe or even more so a great Dune pipe and yes they work very well even on stock motors. Mike

I will post some here in a bit.

Hey all, just wondering what it takes to fit the Blaster reed cages ?? I thought that I had read somewhere that all that was needed was to elongate the mounting holes a bit. Mike
-
No I haven't had any other pipes to compare, I have ridden a few other Banshee's with some bolt ons and T-5's they run pretty good but do not have the pull of the Rockets. I definitely would say the Rockets and that is because I am biased towards them and do not like the looks of any of the PT's. I would be willing to bet that the Rockets would out perform the PT's anyway. People either love them or hate them, no matter what they perform very very well. They do stick out a tad and the fuel petcock is a lil tough to get too along with the plugs but that is very easily overcome by their performance. Mike

The only pipes I ever heard of being shortened in the belly section , was the old Toomey T - 3 pipes to give them a higher top end pull .
