  1. if I was to shave my stock head .020 where would that put me for squish clearance? also where would that put me for compression? would it be safe on 91 octane if I advanced my timing 4 degrees with the head shaved? also would it require re-jetting
  2. i like it  im thinking of building somethink pretty close to that but i would put a 3rd tube across in between the two already there. i would also make it slightly bigger. i really like that style tho
  3. what he said
  4. anyone know of a good shop in the B.C. area, or possibly washington?
  5. I have stock cylinders. When i do my top end would it be a good idea to clean up my ports a bit. would emery cloth just to smooth things out be a good idea or should this be one o those things that you just leave alone unless you send it to a shop?
  6. i have one of those. ive tried a few and its the best by far. :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao:
  7. vitos claims their superstock pistons add 6 hp. Is this realistic? Could similar results be expected from wiseco? normally i would just buy wiseco but if vitos add a bunch of power
  8. i read somewhere that a rm 125 has .010
  9. 12 mil stroker, turbo, nos, powervalve cylinders.....lol all depends on your definition of "not too much money" I've been told that milling the stock head .020 is one of the best mods for the money. Same for a timing plate at +4
  10. as long as the smoke's not white  hope not what ratio is that? as long as it still runs good and you're not fouling plugsI think its nothing to worry about  are you idling around with it because a 2 stroke will smoke more if you dont ride it hard. does it just smoke when you lay on it or does it even after a minute or so of hard riding?
  11. Gone. Traded for a 94 Jimmy
  12. my yz 125 is ported and has head work done to it. Im not sure who it was done by because the guy before me did it. the bike only reads 100 psi on my guage. thats with a fresh top end too. the bike rips so I figured it was my guage, but if porting lowers your comp that makes sense. I tested it before and after a rebuild and there was no change, still 100 psi. I noticed a power increase after but...probably my guage not working right.
  13. if I were to do it, for the bottom frame tubes, I think I wouldcut them, then plug it( a peice of solid stock that fits tight inside the frame) with a collar from a peice of tubing the same size as the frame. Im not sure what I would do on the top. I dont think I helped much as you probably already knew all that if you're even thinking about that kind of mod, or probably a better way to do it but.......just my .02 good luck
  14. Sorry, I didnt mean to be a dick. I can see where you're coming from. there are a lot of retards in this world. some of which own a banshee :shoothead: . scary thought hey. by the way I dont mean anyone in particular. the kind of people that buy a set of pipes and then take them to the dealer to get them installed. then think they need titanium gears :yelrotflmao: because they cant learn to shift properly with a clutch and not drop out of powerband so instead just hold it wide open and bang through the gears without touching the clutch  the same kind of person that thinks the spider gears in a truck differential will weld themselves together if you do burnouts. these are things people have actually said to me, and you're right that these people shouldnt attemp a mod like this. ill go one step further and say that SOME of these people shouldnt even own a banshee. :shoothead: Unless you have said one of thoe things to me, disregard that last remark. I dont mean anyone on the BHQ.
  15. I'm not really a big fan of the raptor plastics on a banshee, but with the graphics kit it actually looks pretty sweet. i think some different lights (not round) would cmplete the pacage a bit betteroriginal looking bike
  16. if you have stock tires id say thats why you're not getting power to the ground. put your new power to use and kill your stock tires with a couple smoke shows. also like jlsparky7 said, try taller gearing that would mellow it out a bit, assuming you dont do any real slow first gear trails :shoothead:
  17. ok first off, I am 18 today, and I've done many top end rebuilds, a couple bottom ends and a couple trannies, and none of it is that big of a deal. Its just a motor. I have "adults" that tell me all the time that they cant believe my "natural" ability of pulling wrenches. so dont start on this shit about kids not knowing anything. theres not much technical work involved in the conversion from what i can see. its not like revalving forks or a shock, its just making some A- arms fit. not rocket science :shoothead: second, I'm smart enough to know that (most of the time) you get what you pay for. this site is a great source of extremely valuable information. nobody is convincing me that yfz arms are as good as something you can get for 1000$. Right now I dont even have the money for a yfz setup, and sure as shit not elkas and the works, so for someone like me the yfz A-arms are a logical chioce. obviously they wont perform as well as a proper setup, but a person also has to ask themselves if they are going to use the potential of a "proper" setup. One day when I'm rich  I'll probably buy a top of the line setup, but for now even 3-400$ for a yfz setup is a big chunk of money, and would be a substantial improvement over stock. Also how many problems have you heard of about the conversion(if anyone know of any, I would like to be well informed before I make a decision). you can blow off a corner and eat shit no matter what youre riding, just because someone crashes using that setup it doesnt mean its to blame for anything that happens while you are using it. I realize many people can afford to buy a proper setup and bolt it on and go, and all the power to ya, in fact if you can afford it I would recommend doing it right, but for the rest of us we'll save up to but some yfz shocks
  18. i notice that at speed the front fenders cause the front end to lift a bit. can be scary when cresting hills and the front end starts lifting up
  19. it works but be very careful not to melt the plastic. if you melt the plastic it is almost sure to break, in a surprisingly short time. thats what happened to me. if i were to do it again i would get ahold of a heat gun. if you decide to use a torch, good luck
  20. how much top speed would i lose if i went from 22 inch tires to 20s or vice versa?
  21. unless you do lots of real tight trails where you're riding the clutch in first gear to go slow enough, I would go for it. you shouldnt have a problem pulling taller gears. my friend went to a 15 tooth and said that it was like an extra gear. first became like 2nd was, 2nd lik 3rd..... you have more mods than me. i have pipes and a k&n for now a and i want to get a 15.
  22. i wouldnt go more than 4" max those are nice bikes. what is the exhaust on the banshee, it looks sweet
  23. I've rode 450s and i agree that the stock suspension on them is light years ahead of banshee suspension.a banshee is a tank on the track. I also said that I wasnt riding that hard or really going for the win. I was wearing jeans and a wifebeater so i really shouldnt have been "racing" anyway  I also said if the track is groomed well and as long as you DON'T plan on doing ANY of the big jumps. If you want to feel really good suspension on the track, ride a dirtbike that the suspensions been revalved for your weight. oh and thanks 2003limitedbanshee, i'll check that out
  24. hey man sorry to hear about that . hope you make a good recovery. damn cops. if he wasnt there there would have been no accident at all. and for all you saying to just stop and take the fine, obviously you would run if someone was trying to mug you for $600+. whats the difference if its a cop than some crackhead? $600 is a lot of money, and thats just for no insurance. it would easy be $1000+ around here. i guarantee there are lots of people on here who have ran from the cops. :ninja: sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. just go down a trail and they cant follow you. :yelrotflmao: just my .02
  25. one day i was wheeling up a winding road on my dirtbike in 4th and as i crested a hill during a right hander the front end started to drop on me so i layed on it and the bike topped out before i could grab the next gear and it slammed the front tire down. i was leaned over pretty far at this point and the front tire had stopped turning so the front end washed out and BAM im sliding down the pavement. big trail of sparks from the bike and i was trying to get on my knees and slide on the knee pads. i slid for about 100 feet on the pavement and then another 50 feet or so on some guys lawn  I kept trying to stand up as i was sliding because i had never crashed going that fast and it was kind of strange. i got out of that one lucky, lucky first off that there wasnt a car coming head on, lucky second that I had my knee pads because there are melted patches on them now. my riding pants as well as the plastic buckles on my boots melted a bit too. i got up, checked myself over quickly and fired up the bike and rode down the road a bit to check myself out rather than somebodys front lawn.I had some good road rash covering half my forearm and on my hand. the bike got away with hardly a scratch other than grinding half an inch off my right handlebar and a bit off the peg. I still laugh about the two strips ripped out of that nice lawn oh and guys dont call bs just because i dont have pictures of it. Im not the type to make up stories like that. at least not when im sober
