I bought a used DD lockup and the bolts that the guy sent with it are stock length. The DD instructions say new "Longer" bolts....
How long are the new bolts supposed to be? Anyone have a motor apart or new lockup sitting around that can measure please.
Thanks
Dave
thats a question you usually ask before you send your motor out.....call him and ask.....you cant be worried about calling and bugging your builder.....they are doing a service for YOU that you are paying for.
look at the side of the swing arm where the big bolt on the bottom goes through...that is where the carrier rotates..see how much adjustment you have left...its a radial slot cut in the swing arm.......2 links is a lot to be short...
If its an nhra track, then you need a snell 95 rated helmet i believe......might even be snell 2000 by now. Need to look up an nhra rule book and see what the helmets are now.......been a while since i raced at the track.
Well one way to look at it is, a 15 dollar puller is a lot cheaper than a flywheel if you scrap the threads on it. Id rather have the puller be the weak link. Grease on the threads works good too. And on the crank so next time it pops off easier.
When I set mine up I have it so the clutch arm below the carb is just a little (1/4" or so) towards the stator cover side of the arrow on the case. Then take your finger and push on the clutch arm and it should line up with the arrow on the case. Tighten everything up and recheck it.
When I adjust the clutch cable I stick a Nickel (5 cents) between the clutch lever and the perch. then tighten the cable down. Take the nickel out and it should have a little free play in the cable so.
Im sure there are 100 different ways to do it. Thats how I do it and I dont have any slipping or shifting issues.

I have threebond 1211. I got it from Jeff. I guess its a little thicker than something like white elmers glue. Its not thick like silicone. Hard to explain. If you want to try it let me know. I also have that leak down tester I made if you want to borrow it when you put the cub back together.

your gas tank is just like a gas can.......if it doesnt have a vent it isnt going to flow worth crap.....get an empty milk jug and fill it with water..turn it upside down and see how the water runs out.....now do the same thing and stab a hole in the jug after you turn it over and see the difference.
I have heard of people using the iridium plugs in cars and saying they suck. I guess the little iridium tip burns off or falls off and who knows where it goes. Ill keep running the br8es.
Here is the 2007 C.A.R.B. red sticker riding schedule. It changes every year. So keep checking it. Last year (2006) pismo wasnt red year around.
