List of things to buy with questions
Dave I. replied to badbrad's topic in General Banshee Discussion
For what you are gonna pay for the noss head and tors removal you could get a new set of pwk carburetors 30mm or so. Id get an adjustable timing plate, the cheap 35 dollar one. Grease caps, dont know how much they are but i wouldnt buy them. Id look at a set of tusk aluminum bars, they are cheap 28 bucks and come with a cross bar and pad. Grips are grips, get some cheap ones. -
His carbs are air strikers. He got them from theshee and were supposed to be 35s bored larger but I think they are actually 38s that are bored. He measured them and got a little less than 39mm from what I remember. There is no way possible to bore a 35 to a 39 thats what makes me think they were originally 38. I dont know if theshee set them up for a pump or not, or what has to be done to run a pump. Mine are gravity feed still.

392 Cub Building Experience thus far
Dave I. replied to forumsearcher's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Yea you are way off......are you POSITIVE you have the correct pistons? 9768M06800 If the pistons are correct then you have the wrong domes. I am pretty positive you need the blaster domes from what ive read. I would call jeff or whoever you got your parts from. They should be helping you. I bought my cylinders, pistons, and domes from jeff and it was perfect. If the people you bought your parts from arent helping then you need to be calling someone else anyway. -
pilot jet is your idle-1/4 throttle for the most part...if you have having trouble at 1/2 to full you need to be looking at your needle and main jet move the needle up and down 1 clip and see what it does....also you might want to go a little bigger on the main till you figure out where the problem is.

what about supercharging the shee?
Dave I. replied to streetshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Do you think if banshees came with a decent tuneable fuel injection system from the factory anyone would be using carbs.....No. All of the big boys dont care about EFi because its not really gonna make anymore peak power for them....they dont care about part throttle riding....they are WOT or nothing at all. That and the weight of a battery etc... The problem with an aftermarket efi system for a banshee is it would cost almost as much a car to build...still need all of the major hardware. I would love to have EFI on my bike but it would probably never be cost effective. -
what do the plugs look like? if it isnt firing on one side it will still move air out of the exhaust. Dont do anymore WOT until you figure out why both cylinders arent firing

What you searched and found is the same thing this post will turn into.....Everyone has a different opinion.... They are good reeds. Some people say VF2 make a little more power but nothing noticeable. Some say VF2 have a screw that can fall out and kill your motor. Some like to put new pedals in the stock cages... You cant go wrong with getting a set of VF3. They are pricey but good. Shouldnt need to rejet. Buy a 35 dollar adjustable timing plate and you will notice more of a difference.

Everything you want to know about VF3 Check that Link. Good info.

I use to play socom 2&3 like a crackhead......shit was taking over my life so I stopped playing it...I been wanting to fire it up again here lately....PS2.

Yea. the firehead, mccoy, gigot battle...I guess it worked out for gigot after all, whats firehead gonna do now LOL......

There was a post about this on Planet Sand and it seemed like most everyone said its best to just get the correct cylinders for the stroke you plan to use. I remember them saying something about the port timings being too far out of wack to try and get them straightened out to work with a 4mil crank. If you have an account over there you can search for it.

392 Cub Building Experience thus far
Dave I. replied to forumsearcher's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Yea there isnt a lot of info out on those pistons....this guy either needs to call jeff or trinity and see what the deal is.......something is mismatched somewhere in this motor. He said he kicked 30-40 times wot and got 110psi....30-40 times and my leg would fall off. I was talking to shayne about it, I wonder if the pistons are in backwards. If that would cause compression issues? Would definitely make it run like crap. -

What I read by the description calvin gave is......the pistons that he has are the correct ones for the stock rod length, if he has that part number. They have the blaster crown. They should work fine with any 68 bore blaster dome. The difference between the 392 and 421 should just be deck height of the cylinders themselves. domes should be the same if they are cut for the blaster piston. Maybe im not getting it correct but i think thats how its designed... -
clutch cable rubbing bowl on 35's
Dave I. replied to violentholeshot's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
what intakes are you using? you can bend the clutch arm down to clear the bowl and grind some of the bowl drain nut off to get a little more clearance. i think most reed spacers are 3/8 and 1/2 -

Sounds like you have the right pistons and domes. squish is gonna be tight with that .012 gasket. your compression reading is low for 21cc domes....I dont know what a .012 gasket would do to port timing and your compression but I dont think it would make that much difference. I dont know where you are at in California but if you are up north you could try my 392. You definitely shouldnt be losing power with a 15 tooth up front either. You should need a 15 tooth to keep from spinning the tires so much. There is a missing link somewhere. That thing should run hard even if it is a little rich. I didnt think t5 would hold it back that much but maybe they are. -

I have 68x54 (392) with stock rod lenght. This is what calvin had to say about the pistons in this bore/stroke/rod combo. Basically what he said is they designed a special piston for stock stroke/stock rod length 68 bore so that they could use off the shelf 68mm cub domes and you wouldnt need a special cut dome. You can have a dome cut for any combo I guess but then you are stuck getting a custom dome cut every time you want to switch domes. For some people thats the only way they would do it anyway, for others if they saw a cheap set of domes for a 68mm cub they would buy them and could use them. """""CPI-6854 68mm bore by 54mm, (stock stroke)???392cc When using stock rod crankshaft (110mm rod X 54mm stroke) Cylinder is setup to use a Wiseco 9768M06800 Piston Kit available through Trinity Racing Should use stock thickness Base gasket , (.020-.022) Head volume should be between 19 and 20cc domes When using long rod crankshaft (115mm rod X 54mm stroke) Cylinder is setup to use a Wiseco 573M06800 Blaster Piston Kit Should use thin Base gasket , (.010-.012) Head volume should be between 19 and 20cc domes When we had the 9768 made, we made it with the same dome rise as a blaster piston, that way the 68mm domes were both cut for the blaster dome rise."""" -

Looks like Andy pretty much said everything I was going to. You really need to check your squish. Depending what pistons you used you might have some serious issues. If you got blaster pistons and have stock rod length its not right. The pistons you need are sort of custom and can be ordered through trinity. Base gasket should be .022 like Andy said. Make sure you have the correct domes also. Get dual carbs, 35 pwk are good. thats what I run mine on gas. The t5 are not perfect but they will work. Get some race gas, smaller domes and up the timing. Where at in California are you? -
Jeff at farm and sand toys did mine. turned out good. If you have the motor apart you might as well do it for cheap insurance.
-
and then he walked into a pub with his dog.
-
from what ive heard if its out anymore than 2 turns you need a different pilot jet. As for how far it can be taken out, that all depends how much you want to worry about it falling out.

Where Could I Re-locate My key
Dave I. replied to 350BANSHEE350's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Move it back under the seat next to the tool pouch. You can use a small hole saw or something similar to make a hole just big enough for it to slide into. Then make a small notch in the hole for the locating tab in the key switch to lock in to. You can use a dremel or anything to make the hole. Its free other than running a couple feet of wiring. Its super easy and you dont have to buy anything on ebay lol. If you dont get it ill take a picture tomorrow. Dave
