Flywheel puller will not fit but is right tool
2strokespirit replied to atvfreestylekid's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Be patient, Rome wasnt built in a day. Me as well have a list of things I want to buy for my bike, but I have to save money for everything I want to buy and it take months, even a year or so. If its harder to get something you will appreciate it much more. Good Luck -
outboard oil is design for COLD running 2-stroke engines, outboard motors get their cooling out of the ocean or from the source they are used in, so they run very cold, operating temp of 122F. Your Banshee is a hot running 2-stroke motor, so you need oil to protect it in very hot circumstances, while outboards need oil to protect and do the job in more colder situations. That does not mean that outboard oil cannot protect a hot running engine, but as far as I know, their not design to do so, or especially not so good than the non outboard oils we use in our banshees, so why risk using outboard oil?

The RZ does have a lower 1st and 6th, but in my opinion, run the RZ tranny. You can gear the ratios down with your sprockets and what I have found with the RZ gearing, if you gear your sprockets for a longer ratio the switch from 5th to 6th aint that big. My banshee with a 14-39 ratio on 20s if I switch from 5th to 6th, they gap is to big. Go with the RZ tranny, I feel the gears are spread better than a banshee's. My opinion.

Nuetral hard to find when warmed up.
2strokespirit replied to 202banshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Thata a common problem on the banshees, but it should not be that hard, check your clutch adjustments, another problem is if you have to much gearbox oil in, like way to much, sometimes I get banshees, if i service them there comes 2litres of oil out of the tranny. -
I'll buy them again as well. I have mine for 1 year on my bike, good as new and I ride almost every weekend.

Try find some new rings and measure the ring end gaps in the cylinder, if they are in limit, hone re ring it, otherwise bore it.

What kind of mods does it take to beat a YFZ450 piped with a K&N filter. I just read so much opinions on how the guys on thumper talk says how the YZFs beat the Banshees, until they are modified. Thanks

I suppose your gear lever is tighten to your shaft? The splindes are good? I think you have broken the spring of the selector shaft. Watch out that the gears dont pick it up and brake something more. You will just need to take the right hand side engine cover off. Good luck

Listen how this things pulls on th bottem end, this is 992lbs in total weight with 15-45 gearing on 22 maxxis sur tracks, 992lbs of weights and it pick up so easy without changing gears from the bottom, imagine in a banshee which has less weight how awesome the bottom must be. This is a RZ350YPVS 31k

This is locally produced, run this on my RZ buggy, I have a 2 into one air cleaner pipe with a K&N, with these pipea, first oversize, with a squish of 0,9mm (running without head gasket), stock porting, this thing on a dyno jet dyno 69HP. Anyways this motor is on a sidewinder buggy with a weight of 340kgs, with me and the buggie it weights 450kg (992lbs) this thing runs next to a piped DS650 on a 1/4mile, it tops out at 144km/h (90mph) This is the same pipes I am going to use on my RZ, its a mid to bottom pipe, but still awesome bottom end. I can say, noting but good things of these.

I am looking for banshee or RZ jugs wich is ported for a 4mm, trail, play port. Will consider stock stroke porting as well. Thanks

No Time for shee. Complete motor sale.
2strokespirit replied to nicktoney's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
how much for the crank? How much for the jugs? How much for the 33pwks? -
Porting is not every backyard mechanics job, but I have to say, I have my own shop in SA and around here theres not a lot of people that can do a good job so I have done some RGV250s and CRs with really good results, I have messed up some cylinders and done ### jobs as well, but my suggestion is, get a old pair of cylinders and try it on them, If this is something you want to do, you will have to start somewhere. I am still teaching myself and working threw books like A GRAHAM Bell's 2 stroke performance tunning and so on. But this is a trick thing especially when you get into port timings and transfer angles, but I love it and gonne push on in my shop till I get good results. One day all the good builders will not be there anymore, so there have to be new ones to take their places and in my opinion its only experience and 2 stroke technical info that will get you in the forefront of things oh yeah dont forget the $$$

As far as I know a 370 is still stock stroke, only a longer rod on a oem crank, that was the first long rod setup they used with the blaster pistons and RD400 rods. For best results the port timings needs to be change and you will have to use 795 series pistons, but yes it will work. Let someone confirm this as well.

I am almost at the start of ordering some parts, 4mm crank, cool head, pistons, carbs to built a 4mm. I have bone stock rz350(with everything you need) and banshee jugs, I do mostly trails, but also like a top end screamer. I know both these motors well, but just cannot decide what route to go, money is no option, not that I have it, but am saving loads for this project. I think the only thing that keeps me from building the RZ is the fact that some electrical parts are getting hard to get and maybe some other parts will not be there for long, such as power valves etc, banshee parts are all over e-bay! What do you think? Thanks
-
So what you are saying is, that with a lockout alone (without an over ride), you will mess up your transmission, trying to shift under full power without using the clutch? Thanks
-
Try the wiseco website or search in google, not sure about the wisecos.

Over heated and 1 cylinder isnt getting hot.

Thats probably what someone else told your buddy, unfortunately HP = $$$$$$$$$$$$

I have my own shop in South Africa, being in this trade for a few years now and specializing in 2-strokes and 4 stroke. I dont have much experience with lockouts, but know what they're purpose are. The only weird thing to me is that a BIG atv shop now advertise them as a mod to reduce clutch slippage (which is true) AND to use it for shifting gears without using the clutch at full power????? Are this true, without an override? I want to purchase overrides and lockouts for my shop, but I have never used a lockout and now hear this ad, I even phoned them and they are importing the modquad lockouts, they say you can use the clutch when ever you want, but if you drag race, you just use the clutch to launch and then shifts without clutching and its save for the tranny WITHOUT a override??? Please, can I have some input on this?? Thanks

replacing rings and measuring ring end gap
2strokespirit replied to 4stroker's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I would not recommend it, stay with the yamaha rings on the yamaha pistons. You put the ring in the cylinder and measure the end gap with a fueler gauge. Both rings standard limit is 0.3 - 0.45mm and the limit is 0.7mm, I just checked the manual. -
Just make sure you run something in your radiator..... but I have some stories on antifreeze as well, but let me keep it for myself.

Check float levels first.

Thinking about buying dmc alien exhaust
2strokespirit replied to afireblade929's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I love them, to me its one of the best looking pipes on the market, they sound awesome!!!! more like a bottom to midrange pipe, like pro-circuits. Buy them for trails and all rounds. -
The bracket to relocate the coolant
2strokespirit replied to Cykotik's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Agreed!! I know of some guy that relocated his just behind his radiator, dont know where, but he claims it does work now. I think the distance from the rad to the bottle are to far and some guy claimed with a bigger connecting tube his worked as well. WOULD BE NICE IF IT WORKED THOUGH. If i had the time I would try to relocate mine as well with a differant tube. On my RZ350 bike it surely works, but its much closer to the radiator and it does has a thicker connecting line.
