I've got a set of handlebars, not sure if they're stock or not, the're kinda low-pro and I'm a taller guy so I got some renthals. Well if you have the money I would powdercoat them, unless they already are. For the touch-ups I would try any time of black touch up pen, they seem to work well.

I ordered a stock crossover tube and it came w/ new boots, so I got to lookin at my old ones, and 1 of them is good and 1 is starting to crack. I'd be willing to sell ya the good 1 and give u the cracked one(which isn't cracked all the way through, just starting too, could probably seal up with some silicone actually). I'm goin home to duncan too this wknd, you live around that area right? Just send me a PM.

Are they stock carbs? Some aftermarket carbs have different ranges or #'s for jets.

What will your plugs look like if you go "too high" on timing? I didn't know you could do a plug check to see if your timing AND compression are good.

Don't think anyone's answered the jetting question yet so i'll stab at it. If you're not going to run a lid and will have the Toomey's I'd say you could try around a 280 and go down from there, that'll prolly be rich but better safe then sorry.

Try to adjust the throttle cable some up at the throttle housing, mine was at the point where it wouldn't idle and when I adjusted it I went too far and had your high revving symptoms, just play around with it till you get it almost right and then do the fine tuning.

Got a deal on the kicker goin, anyone else have either of these? Buddy reealllyy needs some rear 8" tires for his paddles.
