  1. You know what I mean about the packing and baffles? Repack 'em, that's about as quiet as your gonna get.
  2. What the hell has that thing been through? .50 over on a stock '05? You may want to check to see if there is any packing left in the silencers. Are the baffles still bolted to the ends of the silencers?
  3. That lid will richen up the jetting, but 250's sound lean. You will want to do a plugchop to jet the mains, start with 290's or 300's and go from there. Your clip may need to be leaned out and may need 27.5 pilots.
  4. Reeds are going to richen the midrange. Raising your clip will take care of it. Hope this helps.
  5. I have not had mine on a dyno but I would guess around 150hp. Still have the stock carbs, Jeff (FAST) said I would not notice much diff. for the type of riding I do.
  6. I think I paid around $400+ for mine, used in good shape. Then I found this site trying to jet the bike. Your best bet for top dollar is Ebay, cause there are too many sweet deals on here with guys getting rid of things in pristine shape for low cost because they don't want to deal with Ebay and other "strangers".
  7. I'd say $250-375 depending on condition.
  8. AHHH!, the old "usable savage" trick!!!
  9. Any particular reason you are looking to double your current HP? Your gonna have to really milk those stock cylinders to get 80......
  10. I have heard that you should keep the respective carb parts to themselves, but I forgot the reasoning. Can cause headaches ::
  11. Plant repairman at the Tilden for the past 9 years.
  12. Tried messing with this today. Imported some pics to webshots and tried to post one as my sig. I tried to import a larger size but it keeps giving me an avatar sized pic. Is there a sticky on this shit?
  13. I'm laid off from that shithole, too! Lot's of trails out in Sands Plains. You probably know more trails than I do.
  14. Right next to ya! Buy a bunch of tools so I can borrow them. j/k We'll have to go for a ride sometime, if the snow ever melts!
  15. Welcome! What city are you in?
  16. ME TOO!!! I try to look at the bright side, though. Like the fact that I had time to drain some beers already today while thumbing through all 32 pages of the "Random Picture Post." That's good stuff right there!
  17. IDK how the pods connect, I don't run them myself but lots of others do. That hose definitely needs to be there and it is real easy to have it drop off onto the cases if you don't know it's there. I've been there myself, and once you do it you never forget! It "works" the choke on the other carb. Won't run even close to right until that baby's connected.
  18. I need a new airbox anyway , the boots were good , but the filter assembly thing is gone and one of the rear tabs is broken off of the stock box . Any suggestions on a good upgraded airbox or do i need to get a new filter and go with it ? I don't think the broken tab is a big issue, they make a cnc'ed adapter for the existing airbox to fit a K&N, $100 buys both. If your not going to be riding in water and mud you can get pods (filters directly to carbs) or run without the airbox lid.
  19. You adjust the idle? How many turns out are you?
  20. Definitely double check those compression figures with another tester. Shut off the gas, hold it wide open, and kick until the gauge stops climbing.
  21. That's probably the correct way to do it, however, if the boots are in good condition and at a pliable temperature you can gently wrestle the carbs out by pulling them back into the airbox boot, then out. Don't forget the choke tube (hose about 3" long connects carbs together) or you will pull your hair out trying to get it to run. ::
  22. Welcome to the HQ! Answers to all of your problems lie within! Did you look at the plugs after you did all that kicking? Smell of fuel/wet? I don't know what jetting you need at that altitude, but you wouldn't hurt anything by cleaning the carbs and seeing what you have for pilots, mains, and clip positions. Maybe check what kind of spark you have by grounding the plug to the cylinder and seeing if you have a fat blue spark when your kicking it over. Compression is aways a good thing to know, also. If you have access to a known "good" tester, that will help this puzzle. Oh, probably find a good condition carrier on here in the "for sale" or "wanted" categories, or Ebay.
  23. Sounds like you stole my bike! Never had mine dynoed, but it likes to rip lugs off the rear tires.
  24. Looked at it again, it is actually your number plate from the front view  I must have needed more coffee. Nice setup, BTW!
