  1. Anyone care to predict what our 1st three runs will average? Here's a little information. Our 1st timed runs will be at Bakersfield on 300'. The track is not known for quick times. Last year we got into the 3.90s with a lot of work on our 443 gas cub, stock frame & a 200 lb. jockey. This year we have a 643 gas DMX in a 90" Black Label chassis. This is a whole new combo & hasn't been dyno'd or on a track yet. This will be my son's second race on 300'. He was the jockey in the above paragraph. I'm predicting the 1st three runs will average 3.82
  2. Thanks! Here's the rule: Chassis Chassis/frame must be OEM stock qualified. Maximum wheelbase 60", measured from the centerline of front hub to centerline of rear hub. Any modifications that alter the stock appearance of the tunnel are prohibited. Ponder on that a little bit, LOL!
  3. Air bags yep, could have used a parachute or wings on the previous accident.
  4. Who cut the override?
  5. Hell, I guess both the bike & I survived better than the last accident. Yes to the heat tape, we have a temp gauge on the line now. Thanks Jeff for the F.A.S.T. thoughts. We'll be racing in about a week & hopefully headed for Gilbert shortly after.
  6. Thanks guys! I'm not a big fan of a rigid, but we didn't have much choice. I'm sure this was the best move for sand. This chassis is 30 lbs. lighter than our stock frame. Plus, it should work a whole lot better too. We tested it on the river bed last night & learned a bunch in a short time. I have a few changes to make & I have to inspect the clutch. I have to thank Angel for busting his ass to get all of this done this weekend. We got very little sleep this weekend, but it was a great time. We have a week & a half to the BAKO Drags. Hope to get good videos. Still trying to work out the Gilbert, LA. trip.

  9. This is what we transferred the motor into for future races.
  10. Crash pics posted here. http://bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=164927&page=3#entry1460136
  11. Digital photos, no time to post. Need to get back to work, it's tuff only having one hand & arm to work with.
  12. He now go easy on the old guys! We don't have all the high tech, gee wiz electronic gadgets. We just know how to get things done the old school way. We worked until 5:00 am this morning. Only a few minor things getting done right now, Trying to get another PR bike ready for Gilbert at the same time. Hopefully get pics & vid when done. Going out to the river bed to test a few launches.
  13. Getting ready to leave for Phoenix to transfer motor into the rigid. Hoping to get pictures of the whole deal, if we have time & my camera decides to work.
  14. I can't believe I still have my Paul Turner installation instructions from the late 90's, LOL! Midrange pipes; 270-280 mains, stock needles in #3 position, stock pilots. We had the High Revs & loved them. They recommended the same as above, but a 280-290 mains. We ran a 280 @ 2,200' & it ran great.
  15. I think we use the 3/8" & it's a little smaller than the stock one. I'm sure stock is metric & falls between 3/8" & 1/2". I can't check right now.
  16. I wouldn't worry about the grade 5s, the white ones would probably be fine also. Some people are already tuning with them in the slingshots.
  17. Our original ceramic ball is white, we bought the highest grade material black as a back-up. The old white one has not failed us yet. http://www.mcmaster.com/#ceramic-balls/=lznslj
  18. It can cause interference with the cdi depending where it's mounted, like up front as some do. We run B8ES plug, with low resistance MSD leads.
  19. It's custom made by CP for K&T, I don't know if anyone else can get them. Our motor is patterned after their record setting motor for the 576-650 limited class. It has been changed a little for asphalt, but I still hope it performs well on sand.
  20. Our motor is much smaller, that should help. Plus, we aren't launching in 2nd gear. That's a whole bunch of smack hitting that known weak link. Whether it's 1st or 2nd gear launch it's tough with both, but a tuned clutch will take away/soften that smack to the gears, chain & etc.; it helps cut down on the carnage. Anyway, the stock cut transmission is going to get its workout in Apr. I'll post the results good or bad.
  21. No, but it hasn't been tested on the track yet. That's coming in Apr. & I'm pretty sure them 84" RO, 16 paddle staggered 2 layer Kevlar Rippers will test the stock gears. From what I've seen of your guy's type racing, your spinning the tires pretty good in the early gears. That would make me feel a little easier about using a stock gears.
