What kind of Banshee would beat my boss's Mustang in the 8th?

OK Sprinkles, there's the pot calling the kettle black again. -

I was joking also. There have been some better vids on youtube. We have one on the hill, but I managed to fuck-up the start of it. I've posted a few running 300' also. The videos, time slips or even dyno numbers aren't worth the BS drama they get on the forums. That's why we do very little of it. You want to see it run, get in the lane next to us. -

Heck, when we 1st started with a 7mm stock cylinder. We went 10.80s with a best of 10.70 something. -

Trying to be funny, we need to take up a collection & send you to comedy school. The videos were not taking by me or anyone I know. Our family is not much on pictures or videos. It seems every time we go to this track it ends up on youtube. It's probably because it's 1/8 mile. We have a harder time beating the big bikes in the 1/4 mile. -

Here's our last time slip we posted online. We might show a few time slips with the new motor, but it's usually not worth the hassle. -

Tedder & I have posted a few 1/4 mile time slips in the drag section a long time ago. We have improved on the times substantially, but don't post the slips anymore. -

Here's the second race & he was licking his chops as he turned on the nitrous bottle. He met with the same results, a loss. -

Here' the 1st run & I don't think he was running the nitrous. I was toying with him & made it a closer race than he thought. -

There's a video of us beating a busa on nitrous twice on youtube, but it was 1/8 mile. We have beat a few 1/4 mile also, but we have also been beat too. -

I wouldn't worry about it. I'm assuming you have no asphalt drag experience. The only way you can prove anything to him is to race him, but he will probably win against someone with no asphalt drag experience. I wouldn't even consider a 1/4 mile race with out experience. There's a few of us that could run circles around him in the 1/4, even with a stock stroke cub. It's really not about a size of motor, its more about the overall set-up. -
A big thanks goes out to Chris (Wheelman)! He made time to go over some tuning differences between a Cub motor & a DMX motor. The tune-up is going to be pretty conservative for the 1st couple races. Spending the weekend changing our baseline carb, timing, launch/shift rpm, gearing & clutch from the smaller motor. I also wanted to share that putting a DMX in a stock frame required one modification. I wish I would have taken a photo. We practiced on my dune accident frame. The left tube running from the bottom frame rail to the upper rail requires a notch above the motor mount. This is for the exhaust mount/flange to clear the tube & requires about a 3/8" notch. I'll have to try & shoot a picture or two of the set-up we used to press the notch.

I'm not going to speak for the Puerto Ricans, because they are pretty soft spoken compared to me. You act like I give a shit what you think about our quads. We have travelled all over the states & have proven what they can or can't do. Now for my new motor, I don't know what kind of numbers it will do. I know one thing, it will not be misrepresented on the keyboard or bench racing. There's always a member or 2 that see it run & have a comment or it appears on youtube. You question or state asphalt or sand numbers. These are the facts on our findings, one of the reasons I wanted to try 300'. The numbers in 60' & 300' compared to 330' are almost identical between the 2 surfaces. That has been our findings. I would like to here your results from the 2 different surfaces?

Thanks for the tips also!

We hope not to do anything stupid the weekend before, but the 1/4 mile can be brutal on a new combo. I'm sure will make out alright & looking forward to meeting you.
-
That's a pretty open ended question. This is a very generalized answer. IMO, any power level can benefit from a properly tuned lock-up. Some lower powered set-ups can get by with a very skilled rider, hand slipping the clutch lever out.

Oops! messed up on the last post. Yep, it went high 1.1 on sand with the 18 DMX on motor. It was very close to the record 1st time out.

We are pretty new to the 300' stuff. We took our well sorted out asphalt quad. Then went hill shooting & now we found ourselves 300' racing a few times (5). We have done very well at all 3 tracks we have ran at. How many times you going to change your screen name? This is N2O2fast4you, then HoneyBooBoo & now196hptriplechin I think. You are correct, the times are no fluke & have been repeated/improved. As for the tires being to big, that seems to be the consensus. We gave up a little 60', but we make it up down track. We do a few other things that are not supposed to work, according to most. I'm a little curious myself about the new motor clutch set-up. I'm not to worried about our theory in bigger motors. We have used the theory on a 18mm DMX & a 535 cheetah. The DMX put down high 1.1 60's & the 535 low 1.3 60's. I'm good friends with 2 Puerto Ricans. They didn't like my set-up when we went to sand. Noel told me it would make for a great 4.50 quad. He quickly changed his mind on that 1st pass & thereafter. Our new DMX, I'm sure will be more work in different areas than the old motor. I/we think we have a pretty good set-up mapped out for the 1st two outings. Will it work out, heck we don't know. Like I said I'll share some of the information good or bad.

We just installed the 10 DMX in a stock frame. It's going to be ran 1/4 mile asphalt & 300'. We have done both them surfaces & hill shooting with the stock frame & a 443cc Cub. 1st time on asphalt & 300' with the new motor will be the end of Mar. for asphalt & the following week/weekend for 300'.
-
BTW, the heat cycles are done on the DMX. I have to wait until the end of Mar. to race. The 1st race is on asphalt in Las Vegas, NV. my home track. It's an NHRA Divisional race & I have to make 6 license passes before racing. This will be a busy weekend trying to license, tune a new motor & race, The the following week we have our 1st race on 300' sand in Bakersfield, CA. It's going to be busy changing set-ups & tuning the new motor for sand. Not hiding anything on where I race, just like in the past. Bigbucks, justwannarace will be there again like last year. John Tabata said he was going to try & make it. No BS on what the new motor will do good or bad. Hoping to keep it alive & at least be competitive.

Stop feeding me, try 310 lbs.
-
LOL! On race gas, stock frame. I still have a hard time believing it, but it does it on both asphalt, sand & different tracks. I hated to see the combo go, but I have the same basic in reserve to the new motor.
-
I've explained this in another post. This was our 1st time on sand. We had the wrong tires, they were borrowed (12 extremes). We crutched the set-up to make it work. We had problems getting the quad to hook up in 3rd & 4th gear, along with getting it to shift. The slips are in order from left to right. 1st 3 passes ever on 300'. This is a well sorted out asphalt quad. I made the 1st pass & I weigh 210+ lbs. The second pass was my buddy at 185 lbs. The 3rd pass was me again. You are correct on the slip numbers. We have since went to a 14 Ripper & solved the down track problems. We gave up a little 60', but improved everywhere else on the track. I went to a best mph of 80 & my buddy went 82 or 83. Not going to get into a keyboard debate. A few members have seen this quad run & commented here on it. It runs well, but doesn't set any records; yet.

We started on race gas, went to alky, then back to race gas. We run 300', 1/8 & 1/4 mile and might go back to hill shooting. Both fuel have there pros & cons. You can be fast with either, but with the small motor you could use the help alky or oxygenated race fuel.

Some member's get hurt feelings & start whining when I post slips & race results. It was a little quicker in ET & mph than the slips posted.
