Hey Skippy, how did that search go or you still waiting for me to re-post them?
-
Oh well, it's cheap entertainment for now.
-
Your are lacking in your comprehension skills. My last post said some have already been posted. I never said I was the fastest & I've never raced the other guys. Tedder is a good friend & we hope to race with him this summer. Dan would be more than welcome to join also. You think you know it all, you could try it yourself.
-
There's more than that Boyblunder. Some of the more recent stuff has been posted, sorry haven't raced this year yet. Keep on caring!
-
LOL! This will give a hint, but you couldn't care less or about anything else I do. You flop more than a fish out of water. As for competition in 1/4 mile, Tedder or Dan Hall (A&S) is all I know of.
-
That's the pot calling the kettle black! 2nd sentence, don't need to answer. The people who know me have the answers. I don't have to prove anything. Last sentence, most people can't tune a quad to last the 1/4 mile. Like I said there's only a few that can do it successfully.
-
BoyBlunder, you are still replying to stuff you could care less about. I'm SlowerThanYou & I have nothing to prove. Hee...hee....hee, where did I say or even imply that I set my quad up according to the sound of the silencer. We use a certain packing that requires less maintenance than what comes in most silencers. Never claimed it made more power or was "NASA" material. We just happen to like the sound. Now, you can continue to spew, dribble & keyboard shit out of your pie hole; or you can go back to your sand box & play with your Tonka Toys.
-
There you go Dbag, being stupid again! The Wheelman quote was for 300' sand drags & he must of cared a little. Now, for you who don't care, why are you wasting your time replying.

Sorry, been pretty busy with stuff & this topic got a little neglected. Reading an article in National Dragster today; "How to make key adjustments to a drag racing clutch." It talked a little about launch rpm. Launch rpm, IMO the best way is with a launch limiter. It can be done with other things also. To me this needs to be added whenever getting serious about clutch tuning. It's considered another adjustment mechanism in the clutch tuning department. Changing the rpm even 100 rpm can change the way the clutch acts on the launch. A lower rpm tends to load the clutch more & make it slip more than desired at the launch. A higher rpm tends tighten or slip less than desired at the launch. How does this help at the hill, 300' or the track. It allows for an easy clutch adjustment using rpm & not have to change the lock-up set-up. Note to myself for next subject on launch rpm, rotating inertia.

There you go thinking you know it all again. We like a certain exhaust note & I don't care if it makes whatever power. Our race vehicles perform extremely well & we know how to win. That second qoute is for you also locowannabe. There are very few quads that can do that & we do it being concerned about our exhaust sound. Plus, there are only a couple of people that can run successfully fast in the 1/4 mile. Hmmm....... I'm one of them! We focus on getting the power to the ground, while sounding good. Making sandwiches, I don't have a problem doing that for her. As for her tuning & riding the quad. You are easily overloading your brain again. I never said she "rides the bikes", she drives one of our race cars. As for her Crew Chief duties, she does a fine job on our major race vehicles & has picked up well with the quad.

Don't know if the packing makes a difference, but we like the sound of it. I'll have to look it up, but it's like a woven cloth & I think it's kevlar. It's almost like a stinger sound with a little harshness taken away.
-
It's not like I'm running this on the dyno or anything, simply idling for heat cycles. I noticed it had a mild exhaust note compared to the old motor & the wife said the same thing. I have more respect for my wife (30+ years) than to tell her to make a sandwich. As for it making more power, that will be found out on the track & maybe the dyno. I would think 643cc would make more power than 443cc.
-
Maybe I should make her a sandwich, she's a pretty darn good Crew Chief/Driver of all our race vehicles. I'm proud she noticed the difference in the exhaust note because of the different packing.
-
Hell, I never had any skills! I have to repack these new pipes, we use a different packing. They are way too quiet, my wife said the old motor had way more bark.
-
I got the 1st heat cycle done today & hoping to get one more tonight. The motor fired on the 1st kick, I was surprised.
-
Thanks, we have worked hard for our accomplishments. Single slip is asphalt, the other 3 together are 300'. We can run similar short times on asphalt or sand. The asphalt slip is old. According to K&T this is the strongest rod available & they had a batch custom made.
-
Clutch is your biggest issue! We ran any where from a 2.05 - 2.22 ratio with a 2.86 primary. Tires are AR SD 23s 20x8x10s.
-
Here's our 1st 3 runs ever at 300'. There will be a few slips posted of the DMX, both on sand & asphalt. They will give an idicater of it's capability, good or bad. We will never show our full hand unless we have too.
-
They don't give time. Here's an old slip when 1st changing back to gas. We been substantially faster in all incrementals since. I will post a few 300' times to show some improvements.
-
Heck I don't know, we have ran the same motors on both fuels & same domes. They seem to be fast either way. We don't mind running alky, we started on gas went to alky & then back to gas. I'm getting lazy in my old age with purging, but the biggest factor was piston wear. Plus, we like the fact of hauling our heavy asses down the track on a stock frame with race gas. It's the harder way of getting things done, but it does provide some bragging rights. We compete against bigger motors on alky, most in customs chassis, light jockeys & we still manage to hold our own.
-
Yes sir. Thanks for the kind words on the old motor. We got most of our time with the 60', but we did run a decent mph @ 82. The new motor is going to be on race gas also.
-
It's not a common combination, K&T holds the 300' record with the same basic motor. That's to be expected from them.
-
We built it for the 650cc class & it's 643cc.
-
Good numbers according to K&T! I don't really care to get into the numbers game. The only thing that matters to us is the times we want & the wins.
-
We had the gearing figured out on the old motor. On our best 1/4 mile runs we would have it in 6th gear well before half track. We pulled a lot of rpm with that motor. We think we have a good starting point with the new motor, but that has yet to be tried. The small motor we ran 2.86 primaries. The DMX we are running 2.54s with the same basic sprocket difference. We know that we are losing about 1,000 rpm with the new motor. With the gearing we have to run for the 1/4. The clutch is the critical factor along with a few other tricks to get a good launch. We spend most of our time working on the 60' & 330' times. We don't forget about the rest of the run, because mph past 660' is hard to get with the shitty aerodynamics we have. You wanting old time slips or ones with the DMX? We are not big on sharing our slips, because we grudge race with this bike. We have shared a few slip both on asphalt & 300' sand. They are not our fastest times, but they give an indicater on what we can do.
