  1. this is an interesting thread. unfortunately e85 isnt avavilable in florida. methanol is, but the purging issues and the fact that mathanol is toxic turns me off to it. i went to a paint store and bought a gallon jug of ethanol to try and mis me up some for my banshee for testing purposes. i know this isnt practical for everyday use but im just doing some tests here. if i mix it up at an 85% rate with 93 octane gas, i cant get the alcohol and gas to mix. the gas just forms a slug at the bottom of the can. no ammount of shaking gets the 2 to mix. i looked on the interweb for advice, and found out that i need to add a bit of benzene to get the ethanol and gasoline to mix. problem is i cant find anywhere to buy benzene. so now ive got a gallon jug of gas and ethanol that wont mix. what to do with it? i guess i will hold onto it for now and do more research.
  2. ill be there with a friend of mine whos got a 440ex big bore. anyone else want to come or should we push for a later date?
  3. is 186 miles away though :\
  4. well a couple people showed up. it was pretty fun untill we got rained out. we did some practicing on the jumps. i finally started clearing a 12 foot tabletop. (my biggest jump so far) man that felt sweet. its a beautifull thing when you hit the landing good and the suspension hardly flexes.
  5. its more dirt and grass. the enduro track is sand, but only because the tyres tear the grass out of it and it doesnt get a change to regrow. if youre comming, show up thursday. thats when most will be there.
  6. what everyone has a job? haha. ill be there tomorrow as well as thursday. my nephiew and neice are going as well as a friend with a 440ex.
  7. i have a friend with a 440ex. hes got an intake, filter, cut holes in the airbox. some kind of aftermarket cdi, aftermarket exhaust, worked over head and a drag cam. i weigh about 100lbs more than this guy but i can beat him every time in a dragrace from a dead stop on dirt or tarmac. and by a good margin too. even from a rolling start. its just no compatition. he thought maybe i was just a batter driver, so we switch bikes and with him on my banshee then he wins. we did some flat tracking at a local spot and we were about even in the tight corners, but i just destroy him on the straights. and on the big swooping corners where you drift in 3rd or 4th gear for 120 degrees or more, its just no compatition. the banshee has the raw power advantage in these situations.
  8. im going tomorrow to plantbamboo. its some bamboo farm thats also an atv park. they have an enduro track in the back with varrying terrain.. some small single and double jumps. no woops. the rest of the place is flat grounds. if anyone wants to go ill be there all day tomorrow. i know this is short notice and much of you have to work. directions are at plantbamboo.com entrance fee is $20 for the day.
  9. lets do it.
  10. hell at that price its more expensive than ky warming liquid. ill stick to my $2.35 a quart castrol atv oil. it doesnt warm like the ky but i only need 2 strokes....
  11. `the airbox lid is probably the single biggest restriction in the intake system.
  12. ive got a hush kit on my bike. of course im not stroked but the hush kit is working fine. toomey claims you get a bit more top end out of the t5 pipes with a hushkit installed. ill take their word for it. but i really like the sound of the exhaust. the hush kit quites down the popping sound of the exhaust and kind of makes it sound somewhat like a twin cylinder outboard motor. it doesnt weigh much. its all aluminum and the housing is hollow.
  13. youre not doing something right. my nephiews raptor 80 4 stroke has enough power up pull a wheelie with my 245lb ass sitting on the seat. and its a fuckin 80cc 4 stroke. i can wheelie that bitch all day long in 1sty or 2nd. when my banshee was 100% box stock 1 day from the dealer i could pull the front end up in 1-2-3-and 4. 5 and 6 was MAYBe p[ossible but i really had to rev the piss out of it before dumping the clutch and im not the kind of person to beat on clutches so i didnt really mess with anything higher then 2nd.
  14. i wont be able to go. my dogs biopsy came back, shes got cancer. im not broke by any means but ive spent alot of money in the last 2 weeks on this dog between surgery and cancer specialists so id rather not stretch my budget too thin riding with you guys. hope everyone has fun, remember to take pics and videos for me!
  15. i made mine out of aluminum large umbrella pole. it worked fine.
  16. if you manage to use a ngli gl2 bearing grease (like standard wheel bearing grease) youll be fine. if youre shee sees alot of water rain etc, maybe a marine wheel bearing grease.
  17. before you tail stand it, pull the choke and run that sucker outa gas.
  18. good im glad i cought that before you messed with it more. go out and buy a 2 inch hole saw. drill a bunch of 2 inch holes in the lid to increase airflow. make sure not to drill by the 4 clips, or by the 2 area of the lid which hold the filter in place. keep those 270's in. recheck youre ignition. you might be good to go. the reason i said to only run it without the lid for 1 pass is because of youre air filter. that filter is held in place by the lid. so if you run around with no lid for any significant time span the filter is liable to pop out or atleast get knocked loose. when i first put t5's on my banshee i kept the stock airbox lid and snorkel. what a mistake. its like running with the choke on the 2nd click. you can never reach the power band. the engine wont rev, even in neutral! you can run down the street in first gear at wide open throttle and you wont get over 5000 rpm's. removing the snorkel helps, but the lid is still a very big restriction. i couldnt get my bike to rev with out 4 stroking unless i drilled some holes in the lid. without lid holes, it just ran like the choke was on. 9this was with 280's). once you pull the lid, boy its a huge gain aint it! dont run it anymore without the lid on. just get some holes in it and enjoy. when you want to improve further, the stock airfilter is very restrictive as well. my stock filter was collapsing in on its self from suction even after i put holes in my lid. the white plastic frame was deforming from the suction pull on the foam element. youre next upgrade might be a pro design filter adapter, or some pods if you want to give up mud and water riding.
  19. sounds good guys.
  20. thanks for the address and info on croom. that looks pretty sweet. unfortunately i might not be going. my dog had a tumor removed from her head, their checking to see if its cancerous. if it is, i wont be going on the ride sence ill need to stay here for my dog. if it isnt, then i can go. well see in a few days whats up. with my dachsund luck!
  21. toomey recomends stock size pilots not 27.5. heres a quote. This is the final carb setting check list: Needle on the 4th groove #280 Main jet (sea level, #270 for hot days or high altitude <2500') Float setting = 21mm Airscrew at approx. 1.5 turns out from full in. (Effective range .5 to 2.5) Standard pilot jet (#25) These ARE the right settings! If it's not running right, IT'S NOT THE CARBURETORS!! It's in the installation! (you did it)
  22. before you fuck with it anymore take the airbox lid off and run it for 1 single pass and see what happens.
  23. sounds kinda ddngerous. do you have tors hooked up? i dont know what year youre bike is.....
  24. i agree with everyone else. it aint the jets. although youre probably a tad rich on the main, you shouldnt actually be breaking up even with a 340 main in there. so what was suggested and put the needle back to stock. check the plugs and electrical. you might even lean out the pilot to further reduce low rpm 4 stroking.
