  1. if you have only had it for 25 hours, why not take it to the dealer? i think the banshee comes with 3-6 month warranty, they should fix it for free. if they wont, we will help you out but you have to listen to us. get pictures of the plugs, good pictures. and post them up.
  2. i bet youre pilot is too rich. for toomey pipes toomey says to use stock pilots at 2000 feet and below. was the engine cold when it smokes? nearly all banshees smoke when cold. its just the nature of a 2 stroke to smoke when cold.
  3. you can type a thousand words about it but we need PICTURES! and you can remove the gas tank and look down the plug holes if you dont want to remove the head.
  4. even with tors on you cah change jets while the carbs are still in the frame. just disconnect the tors plug and unscrew the carb clamps. disconnect the fuel lines, drain the carbs, bla bla bla. pull the carb just out of the intake and twist it 90 degrees. pull the bowls and change the jets. put it back together and go. i have tors and while i will admit it is a bit more difficult to change jets compared to a carb with tors removed,, its still no big deal. it is a simple twin cylinder engine afterall. there isnt a single complicated thing on a banshee.
  5. daogejr, make sure they agree to a written insured value for the bike. the most i could get anyone to insure my banshee for was $2700 and hell i got 6500 into it. but if you can get them to agree on a number (10 grand for instance) and they insure it for that value, then if it gets stolen youll get the money back. but i couldnt find ANYONE who would do that for an atv. they do it for collector cars, etc though. my dads porsche is blue booked at 59 grand, but hes got 15 grand in hop ups into it. he for the insurance company to come out and take pictures and document the car and they agreed on a insured value of 73 grand. but i dont know how you can get this done for an atv.
  6. thing with atv insurance as with any other insurance is they only pay the depreciated value. ill give you guys an example. i bought my banshee new in 06 for $5500. i put some mods on it and kept the reciepts. i have what $1000 in mods perhaps.when i called a few places to see about an insurance quote they would do it for $100-$500 a year, but only for the depreciated value. when i asked them what was the depreciated value of my 6 month old banshee they said about $2700. so if my bike got stolen id only get $2700 back. non and a $500 deductable. so id only be getting $2200 back. so would i bother to get theft insurance on a $2700 car? fuck no. why would i insure a $2700 banshee. the way i see it i have had my banshee for a year and a half and its not been stolen, so each year that it isnt stolen my decision to not have insurance pays off more and more. if i can just hold out for a few more years then it will have paid for its self by not having insurance. the other thing is that i got some big fucking locks and chains and i lock my banshee up to the steel bar comming out of the ground in the middle of the garage. my garage has an alarm system that woulds a loud ass siren in the house. if someone opens the door without putting in the code on the keypad. the only entry point is the door. i was also thinking of wiring up a gfci hot to the door, so that if someone touched the door without disabling the gfci it would shock the shit out of them before tripping the gfci. in a nut shell, i havent found a company who will insure my banshee for a decent ammount and at a decent cost, so i became my own insurance company.
  7. buddy if mine had a mid 80's trans am with a 302 or 305 (camt remember) , headers, 4 barrel carb. but i could destroy his ass off the line. i could pull like 3 car lengths right off the line but after that he cought up quick. i mean real quick. keep youre race short, like 300 feet or less and you can probably beat him. maybe you should make it even 200 feet.
  8. so are there ANY drag tracks left in florida? anyone know whats the latest word on bitlo? georgia is a drive from south central florida. i dont think i would be willing to drive to georgia yet. but thanks for the offer. one day perhaps...
  9. thought that i havent seen one of these topics about the ficticous new banshees in a while so i made one up. booya!
  10. if you pipes arnt blueing then youre rich. its that simple. my toomeys are blue from the exhaust port to 8 inches up the pipe. alot of people say my bike is lean. its got perfect compression and i havent blown the engine. ive never seen a spec of aluminum on the plugs. thing is most people jet their bikes way rich. so rich you can hear them 4 stroke at certain throttle positions. if youre worried about lubrication put more oil in the gas. yamaha does spec 20:1 to 25:1 for the banshee afterall. the few exceptions i could possibly see are alcohol bikes and drag bikes. alcohol bikes i do not believe the exhaust ever gets hot enough to blue the pipes. and it seems to me drag bikes only run under power for a handfull of seconds. people not enough time to blue the pipes. look guys im no expert on this but hell toomey themselves say that if you pipes are not blue then you are rich. i just read that the other day on their site.
  11. whats up with florida and their shitty drag tracks. im about to say fuck it and just stick to trail riding.
  12. seen a homeless guy living in a ball pit once. that has to be a pleasant supprise when the kids find him sleeping next to the fake steering wheels in one of the tubes. i dont doubt theres some nasty shit in ball pits. but its no worse then swimming in a public pool, or touching the shopping cart handle at walmart, or screwing youre gf who has had people before you. its all kind of similar. you can freak out and be like howard hughes, or you can just deal with shit and hope you have a strong immune system.
  13. i have a walbro 195lph external fuel pump brand new that would be perfect for this. i bought it a year ago for a bit over 100 but never actually used it. i put it on ebay for $50. it takes 12 volts dc, but you could power it off the blaster lighting circuit if you used a diode or better yet a rectifier bridge. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...0575&rd=1,1
  14. there are areas of big scrub that are nice big rolling hills, no woops or bumpy sections. just prime banshee country. its about 9 miles east from the camp ground, so its best to pack the vehicles and dirve there on the dirt roads. otherwise its 9 miles of powerline woops to get to the flat areas.
  15. i dont have youre number. my old razr got wet when i forgot to take it pout of my pocket before jumping on the jetski. haha. can you pm me it?
  16. yeah but i think hes got a truck with a hitch.
  17. im down for riding anywhere. i dont care where i ride just as long as i can actually get out there and do it. if we go to croom i will need the address of their entrance so i can put it into google maps and print some directions. i really suck at navigation. its a family curse. also id like to get some of youre cell numbers, preferably people who have already been there. so i can call ya if im lost. i also need more info on croom. like where do i get the year permit from. what are some croom rules. do i need a spark arrestor? etc. how is croom for ammenities like bathrooms, showers, stuff like that? is gas for sale in croom or close by, how about other stores like grocery, walmart, etc? ill bring some lawn chairs , big cooler full of ice and drinks and food. and some alcohol, tools, etc. i need someone to bring a grille! i dont have a portable one anymore. you guys want me to bring my spare 27 inch tv and my playstation 2? i have a bunch of atv games and movies for it for after hours when theres no riding allowed. let me know. its no big deal to put it in the back seat. makes for alot of fun watching huevos at night or playing atv off road fury series. and finally who wants to carpool? im in palm beach for the next few months. i have a trailer for my banshee. if someone has a truck with a hitch and want to split the fuel bill we can meet up and put my trailer on yer truck. otherwise ill drive there by myself with my car. my trailer is only 4x8 foot so i cant fit much more than my single banshee and a aluminum tox for storing stuff. but if someones got a truck that they can put their banshee in, and tow my banshee on my trailer, hey im down. i think 06BaNsHeE wanted to do this? pm me!
  18. yes i have ridden one. my father owns one so i like to think i have a bit of expierence with it. thats why i recomended it over the blaster. the raptor might not have powerband like a 2 stroke, true. but its got more power down low and midrange than a blaster with a toomey pipe. on top end you could say what? raptor what top end? haha... the raptor 350 also has vastly superrior brakes and suspension and controls, right out of the box. on the blaster you would need to upgrade this stuff at considerable cost. i never said one needs to buy a new raptor. get a used one, doesnt matter. thats a matter of personal preference. youre point about rebuilding the blaster top end in 2 hours is a good one. yes the blaster is easier to work on and you can slap a new top ed on in 2 hours. but the flip side if you hardly ever need to rebuild the raptor. its got the warrior motor which is bullet proof.
  19. heres a funny question what do you guys think of using golt cart tyres for an entry level tarmac drag banshee? i have like 3 sets of golf cart tyres sitting in my garage with nothing to put them on. they are 18x8.5-8 carlslyle brand. i bet they are not the stickiest tyres in the world but they sure do have low rolling resistance. a set of 8 inch wheels are about $50-$60 for a pair of cheapies. should i give these golf cart tyres a shot? also what is a good tyre for the front of a banshee, prefer to use stock wheels because im a cheap ass (why else would i ask about golf cart tyres haha). i was thinking maybe some worn out knobbies, can pick those up for nearly free on ebay. someone tell me im not crazy.
  20. you make it up to palm beach with youre banshee and well carpool from there.
  21. i actually wouldnt mind primitive camping sence i no longer have any need for electricity or presurized water. the next time we have a meetup ill be pulling the passenger seat and rear seat of my car and laying down a 2x8 foot piece of plywood and a coleman inflatable sleeping bag to sleep on inside the car. no more avion camper and dodge truck. me pops is drinking again and were not getting along anymore so you wont see him at any more meetups. :\ ill still bring a tv and playstation so we have something to do at night but that can run off a power inverter no problem.
  22. castrol 2t premix at walmart for 2.37 a quart. supertech or other cheap type f atf for the trans at $1-$2 a quart from anywhere.
  23. advantage of motor oil is you can get it anywhere. dollar store, gas station, grocery store. lots of plates carry motor oil. 2 stroke gearbox oil as in the 80w or 90w type stuff, is pretty much only available through mail order or a motorcycle/atv shop. and its expensive as hell compared to motor oil. pretty much you can use damn near anything you want so long as its not olive oil or brake fluid!
  24. if it needs brakes and wheel bearings then suspect lots of riding in snow, water or mud. check the underside for rust and look for obvious water damage. (maybe why the top end went out?).
  25. ive messed with a few blasters in my day. my friend rick has one, the neighbors have 2. im going to get some shit from you guys for saying this. they seem like decent enough but they really lack on the features of a more modern quad. the ones i messed with didnt even have disc brakes. they had cable pulled drums. the bottom end of the engines awalys sounded loud, like a knocking noise. maybe thats normal but i didnt like it. i think the blaster does not come with a multilink rear end either. i just get the impression that the blaster is unrefined. and not in a stripped down racing way. more like a old beater chevy type of unrefined. i know they have disc barke coversions, and oil injection blockoff kits, and suspension kits, and a whole host of other parts to modernise the blaster and make it a worthy machine, but why bother when you can grab a 4 stroke raptor 350 thats got everything you need right out of the box. personally i think a raptor 350 would be a better choice. its more money but overall nicer. if youre a die hard yamaha 2 stroker but not ready for a banshee. then a blaster is the only way to go. but take a look at the raptor 350.
