Cool, I've actually never driven a mini-spool, and I'm not exactly sure how that works. My '89 4Runner has a welded rear diff and it is im-freakin-possible to drive on drive pavement at speeds under 20mph. The tires bark like crazy in the turns, and the whole thing jumps all over the place. I've driven a full spool in a Bronco, and that was just the same. Also, I'm not surprised this guy took a lot of shit. 45k for a banshee? Come on, you could build that thing brand new for half the price. I would never pay that much, and I think it is unreasonable to ask. Even if he did manage to somehow circumvent the law, and make it street legal, what's to say I couldn't do it too? I don't really see how he gets off asking that much. Even better, that exact same bike has been on e-bay at least twice now, both time I remember it going for under 10k. Come on, you really expect to make 400% profit on something like that?

You guys are running full boxes and no porting right? You should have the JJH needle. ALso, what are you guys doing for jetting, I made a post a while back, but I turned up a lot of mixed replies. Still not sure where to go with the jetting.

Tons of Banshee Parts For Sale!
LiftdT4R replied to easttexasbanshee's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
Bought A-Arms off easttexasbanshee before, awesome guy to deal with! That radiator is a stocker right? -
Damn, Rutgers had all their classes canceled today and tomorrow for the nor'easter, but one of the professors who I still talk to there is really good friends with a professor down there and used to teach there. I sent him an e-mail today. Really though, these days, you need to take extra precaustions with that kind of shit, somebody definately didnt do what they were supposed to.

Wow dude, thats awesome, Im really feelin' the new headers!!

Yeah, crazy shit, there were a lot of cars suck here, most of them are towed now, we had to go get my buddys firebird today, they just towed them all to a big parking lot in an industrial complex here, and left them, some cars got it pretty bad. The people with houses should be pissed as hell, its pure bullshit in Boundbrook, I worked with the corps and engineers there after hurricane floyd, and all that money went to line somebodys pocket, because we didnt get shit done there. Fuckin New Jeresy government hard at work again. Shit, if anybody here is out of a home in NJ, there welcome to come chill at my crib, provided you loot me some beer on your way.
-
Yeah, thats straight up crazy, there are some sick fuckin people in the world. I had a buddy that went to VA Tech for engineering, thats some really crazy shit, I definately think the school dropped the ball on that one, from what I see on the news, they waited a while to go into lockdown, and then even longer to notify people of what was happening.

Where is firehead and his infinite engineering knowledge, when you need him. Either way, I will take a shot at it with my more limited engineering knowledge. I think that TM designs one would be the best bet. It is supported a lot more then the other style ones. the normal ones are supported pretty far down from where the actual force from impact would occur, youd have a torque that would produce a god amount of stress in the bolts. The TM design ones are supported closer to the point of impact. As far as the cheaper ones. You would definately want to maximize the toughness(resistance to fracture when stressed). I would ass-u-me that the billet aluminum one would be tougher, but I don't have numbers on that to back it up, and even so I would think that both are probably very close anyway. I have the modquad billet alumnum ones on both my bikes, if one ever happens to break or get lost, Id probably buy the TM ones.

Ohh, yeah, my crib isnt in ay of those pics. We are fortunate enough to live in the high side of town. Knock on wood, we never have problems with flooding.
-
Yeah, damn nor easter, I think I might have seen this guy out there earlier too:
-
Snapped some pictures of the floods here in NJ, this is the worst we've seen in a while, it is pretty fuckin' nasty. I was out last night in my other 4runner, 35" boggers and a 6" lift, and we felt like we were gonna get swept away in a few spots. Some dumb motherfuckers in stock explorers and cherokees were stuck all over, I even let some people hop in the back because their car was starting to flood. Anyway, here's the pics http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/jhupp_99/alb...re2&.src=ph I fucked my 4 wd up on my 89 runner, think I sucked some water into the Tcase because I cant get it out of 4 wheel.

Hmmm, I think I will, I tried Action Yamaha, and Green Brook cycle locally, and Yamaha of Warren, and a few other internet sites, and all were around $60 or so. Any chance you could tell me what your getting for the front chain that goes on the swingarm, I allready have it now, but just curious.

Upcase Motor Mount Bushing Removel
LiftdT4R replied to dieseltwitch's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Well, I didn't have any permanent damage, it just made a mess. You could try heating it with an oxyacentaline torch a little, but I doubt that would help. Good luck... -

I used a punch to drive the bolts through. It left a lot of rubber and shit still in there and I scraped that out with a razor. The trick is whenever you put in new ones, put a light layer of anti-sezie around the edge of the rubber and put them in like that. They can be kind of a bitch to do. -
I have 1" risers on my bike, the $30 aluminum ones from ebay. I mainly got them to clear my OS tank, but I like them, it makes the bike easier to ride when standing up. 1" should do anything to the cables, it worked fine for me, it looks like you could still go up another inch or so and be fine.

A spooled or welded diff definately isn't street legal. A locker is, but only because you can engage and disengage it. The reason for not allowing any kind of solid drive axle, is because the vehicle will drive like complete shit on pavement. Ever tried to drive a truck with a welded diff on pavement. Now fuckin' way. Same thing if you try to make a tight turn at slow speed on a banshee, just sucks. Your probably right about the turn signals, I know on my R1 I pulled them off the day after I got it, but then I did the integrated ones that go in the brake light. I still think this guy is straight BS, if he did manage to get plates for that shee it's because somebody at the DMV slipped up. It's a few posts up in this thread.

I don't know about CAD$, but it should be about $500 American, maybe even less. The market isn't great for the older bikes like that, unless someone wants to pull the engine and use it somewhere else. That will be the monoshock rear right? Definately not the dual shock, also, I don't think they were powervalved that eary on either. I have a 93 YZ80, that I've had for a long time, and the biggest problem with the old old bikes like that is that parts from a dealer cost an arm and a leg. I paid like $60 for a simple plastic chain slide.

Hell yeah, http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...+Venture+MT+834 I'd definately give them a look over, it looks like they go from 30" to 32" for 15" rims. Like I said, I think they are the best bang for the buck, and I've ran a ton of different shit. The only tire I though was equally good and cheap were the Super Swamper Thornbirds, they kicked some ass too, but they're a little weird looking.

Bought some lights from him. Stand up guy, would definately buy from again. Thanks dude!

I think at least 1/4 of BHQ bought Elkas from him. Awesome guy to deal with, would reccomend to anyone. Thanks bro!

Yeah, I work for PSEG, a utility company here in NJ, I never use it but once a year, but I have a CDL, and every employee that might have to operate a truck, or crane, anything like that gets piss checked once a month. Sucks, but they pay me enough to buy a lot of booze, so whatever. Everyone I know that's seen Grindhouse either loved it or hated it. At 3 and a half hours, theres no way I'm going to be able to sneak enough liqour into the theatre, so I'm going to wait for the DVD. :yelrotflmao: -
That bike has been for sale a few times. I've never seen the street legal claim before though. I am willing to call BS though! Basically it is a DOT, federal law, that street vehicles cannot have a solid drive axle. There has to be a differential of some sort. If he in fact even got this thing registered, and got plates for it, it was definately an oversight on someone's part at DMV, because it is in no way shape or form street legal as it sits. Also, I don't see any turn signals on the shee for sale either. There used to be street legal kits made for banshees and other quads, and they used a sport bike swingarm, and a single rear wheel to get around the DOT law, and they had turn signals, and brake lights too. But I heard that the company stopped making them due to liability reasons, but that is going to be the only way around it. Do a search on here, and you'l turn up a lot of threads similar to this. The short answer though, is there really isn't a good way to make a banshee street legal.
