  1. Thanks man, good to know, I looked at the choke tube today, and it was actually cracked through about 1/2 of it's length, and it was a bitch to start in the last few months before I tore it apart, so I think that's probably what happened. Any idea about the cross hatching in the cylinder, like I said, it looks almost new, but only kicks to 95PSI, the last top end I did kicked to 100PSI, and the cross hatching was barely visible. Thanks man.
  2. Both pictures are actually of the right piston, but like I said, the left side looks the exact same. About the right side, usually if the right side leans out it is because the choke tube is missing or cracked. I guess this engine did lean out, then, but probably well into the 50 or so hours, and that must have melted the carbon that was on there, like you said about the bare metal. I guess I'll go over all the boots, and everything before I put her back together. Thanks man,
  3. Yes, this is the right side, but the left side looked identical. I'm gonna do a leakdown test whenever I get this thing back together, I guess I'm gonna rebore it too, 50 hours is a long time for a top end, so even with a rebore, I still think I'll be getting away cheap. I was just surpsied by the piston, and the fact that the cross hatches in the cylinder looked soo damn good, usually I can hardly make them out.
  4. I second that. If your talking bone stock to bone stock be prepared to lose by about 1-2 bike lengths.
  5. Hmm, interesting, the intake boots looked fine, and the jetting was on spot, although I have no clue what the guy who owned it before me did. Could have been a bad gasket, although I don't know because I threw them away. Are you sure that it's lean though? There's not really any defect in the piston, it's just like crap stuck to it. The few that have leaned out that I've seen have had like pitting almost, and the domes were turned to shit. My domes look fine.

    ow

Why? What are you doing with your left hand?
  7. Ok, this piston is out of my 2001 Banshee, the bike had roughly 50 hours on it, and only made 95 PSI in both cylinders, so I pulled it apart. I bought the bike in 2003, and it only made 115 PSI then, when I bought it, I took out the carbs, cleaned them out, and changed the mains and pilots for FMF pipes. The jetting was correct, 260 mains, 25 pilots for FMF with full airbox. But I guess this is where I'm at. Here's my pistons: I've done 2 top ends on banshees so far, and I've never seen the pistons look like this, with that big blotch in the middle. The other top ends I did had just a light coat of carbon. Anybody tell me what this means? Also, the cylinders still had the cross hatch marks from the hone in them, they were pretty visible actually. On the last 2 top ends I did, I could barely see them. I'm wondering maybe should I just buy new pistons and rings, and not rebore, or should I just bore it. It is on it's stock bore, with 50 hours, so I'm thinking it's probably about time. I didn't measure the bore size yet either, I can't find my bore guage, but I know I should do that too. As usual, thanks guys!
  8. Looks like a sick bike dude, if you decide to part it, let me know, I'm in the NJ area, and I'd need a frame and some of the other stuff. Good luck on your sale!
  9. Yeah, there was a thread about these in the online auction watch section. They are NOT real. Real Keihins will have a serial number under the Keihin name on one side, you can see where that tab is empty. Also, the finish just isn't right either.
  10. Thanks man, sent you a PM, still looking too!
  11. I wanna roost that crazy fool who put up an Alba banshee
  12. Bump Bump, still looking.

    Why I'm Tired

:yelrotflmao: Hahaha, I like that one.
  14. Can you get anything from modquad? I have a long shopping list I need to pick up.
  15. Looking to pick something up this weekend!
  16. Thanks for the offer man, I'm looking for something that I can just send off to the PCer as soon as I get it. I am soo far behind on my project, I don't have any more time to work on it, and I have a trip late April I'm supposed to be going on. Thanks for the offer though man, Jay
  17. Ok, still lookin' here, tried to salvage my old frame, but no dice, too many stripped bolts and ben shit. So, I'm looking to pick up a frame in perfect condition(no stripped bolts, bent mounts, members, etc.). I don't mind so much the cosmetic condition, but everything must be sound. I have cash in hand, and will travel, I'm in central NJ, right next to New Brunswick. I would prefer if the frame had a title, but if not I will need a hand written, notarized receipt, with VIN #. As always, thanks, Jay
  18. PAGE 5!!!!
  19. Hahahahahaha, I remember that, there were 2 others too, they were a little better. Not like I care though.
  20. They don't call it the roostin' room for nothin'!!
  21. Most definately, I did a buddy's bike with PC pipes, and we put left the pilot stock, and he had a full airbox. That thing idled like a champ, there's no way it even needed a 27.5 pilot. 30s are HUGE! Especially for just pipes and filter in a stock box.
  22. Nice, always awesome to find the problem! That bike is lookin' good, those aren't roll design A-Arms though!
  23. I'm no expert on strokes or 450s, but I have heard that the older YFZs have a problem with lubrication to begin with. Check around on YFZ central a bit, some guys add what's called the oil squirter mod. I know that if you seize a 4 stroke, it's usually an oil problem.
  24. Fin a good builder. You can send out your jugs, they bore/hone them, and send them back with everything you will need. Gaskets, pistons, rings, the whole 9 yards. I frget exactly what is included, because that's what I do everytime.
  25. Yeah, you are pretty low. My guess is that with the elevation you should be between 130-140 PSI Might be ok just to get a hone and rings, it depends. Talk to BigRed though, he knows a lot about high elevations and compression.
