  1. On HJR's site he states 4mil stk cyl up to 85hp. 4th line down. http://www.herrjugsracing.com/Yamaha_Banshee.html
  2. I've used Naval Jelly in the past with good success. Like said above, WD40 and PB Blaster work good too. Get some #0000 steel wool and buff it out. It will not scratch the finish. I use Never Dull to Polish or Mothers and a Power Ball.
  3. I have a white set off my 02 that have never been adjusted. I just adjusted them full hard for about 4hrs of my last dune trip. No leaks and possibly no scratches that I remeber. LMK Here's a pic, but pretty worthless IMO. I can pull them tonight and take pics if you'd like. I think you can zoom in in photobucket.
  4. Sucks about the flood man. Looks like someone stole the motor out of your Z and left the faucets running in your yard, "Home Alone" style. Nice Crawfish too...
  5. Mid-range cruising stutter? I have a set of Toomey needles but run the needles that came in the Moose Racing Carb Rebuild Kit. I run my 02 as modded per my sig and she has absolutely no issues. It is meticulously tuned and synced, so maybe that helps keep it running great. She revs cleanly throughtout the entire powerband and pulls hard from a dig and rev's out cleanly. I cruise it around the dunes and lug the fcuk out of it and she has no issues. I always worry about fouling the plugs too. Maybe that's why I have to replace my plugs once in a 3 day weekend. What should I be looking for in case this studder starts happening to me since I just bragged how well my bike runs...?
  6. stock caps have resistors, correct?
  7. Yeah, I know what the R means, Mang.
  8. He should run NGK BR8ES. I run good ole B8ES' on my Banshee's. The 87 calls for B8ES and the 02 calls for BR8ES. Not sure why the difference, but the 02 runs great. Not to thread jack, but I start a 3 day weekend at the dunes with a fresh set of plugs and I have to change plugs once over the weekend just to keep her crisp. Any input why that might be guys?
  9. Could it also be the "PTO" crankshaft seal? Would that only affect the right side of the motor or both sides? Either way, perform the compression test with the throttle WFO. Record your results of both cylinders and report back. Then do a LD test to find the air leak. It'll be interseting to see where this one goes.
  10. He's running a 2 into 1... My money is on an air leak. Could be anywhere in the entire system all the way down to crankshaft seals. Do a compression test of both cylinders to see if you burnt the right cylinder, piston and/or rings. Then do a proper leakdown test to find the leak. Use a spray bottle with soapy water, pressurize the system, chase down the bubbles and report back.
  11. See post 15. Pristine, OE installed and never before taken apart. http://bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=173015#entry1570949 Make me an offer.
  12. Who did you go thru, and how in the world did they only cost $400?
  13. Who makes 7mil cranks and how much $$$?
  14. It does have an aftermarket head and Toomey T5's. What bore is it on? Does it have any portwork done to the cylinders? What do you know about the engine?
  15. Do you know if the bike has any mods? You can take a few pics of your bike and post them up.
  16. Welcome to the BansheeHQ and congrats on purchase your new Banshee. You seem mechanically inclinded, but I'm going to ask anyway only because you stated that you're new to 2 strokes. I know you said you mixed your fuel 32:1 w/Yamalube 2R. How exactly did you mix your new fuel, and with 91 octane I presume? One thing potential 2 stroke buyers should ask sellers is what 2 stroke oil did they use, what ratio did they mix their fuel and what octane does the motor require? Some buyers don't ask, and the motor requires VP110, insta-meltdown. Don't worry bud, we'll get you squared away.
  17. Man, you guys had me freaking out. I bought a complete YFZ450R MC w/Lever and had to check my eBay purchase history. Thankfully it's off a 2008. I also have the calipers, but they're off a 06, but those haven't been revised, so I'm all good...
  18. He hasn't even riden the fuggin Banshee yet and he's thinking of trading... WTF? How does he even know he'll like the Banshee?
  19. That's a gnarly looking bumper on a Banshee!
  20. ^^^, that sucks. What's your elevation where you did the compression test?
  21. Yes, the piston windows must face the intake...
  22. with the bike off and the filters off, can you snap the throttle and hear an audible clack when the slides slam shut? If not, adjust the cable at the throttle. If still no clack, turn the idle screws out while watching the slides lower down until they stop. Now snap the throttle open and listen for the clack. If you hear the clack, turn your idle screws in until they just lift the slides approximately .020-.040". Now turn your airscrews in and seat them, but not too tight. Then turn the both out 1.5 turns. Next, look at the slides from the inlet of the carbs. Slowly push the throttle until the slides start to move. Do they lift off at exactly the same time together? If not, adjust the carb cap cable adjusters to lift the slides at the same exact time. Once dialed, you should be able to start the bike and if it doesn't idle turn the idle screws in the exact same amount. Next adjust cable free length at the throttle. You want about 1/8" free play. If it is still idling high, then I can't help you any further from my keyboard.
  23. Can't VF4's convert from round inlets to square inlets, or am I trippin?
