Matt, best wishes man! Keep on fighting! Thank you so much for taking the time to give your input. I went onto Axis' site and filled out the order form and within 1/2 an hour Micah from penskeshocks.com was helping me out. He and I exchanged emails throughout the day and he answered a lot of questions. For the terrain I ride, skills and weight, he recommended triple rates with Hi/Lo Comp, and Rebound, so like stage 4 Elkas. The Axis shocks are ~$300 cheaper than the Stage 5's, hand built with better components by Americans in America. I do plan on keeping these shocks for the duration, so they'll need servicing someday so shipping them out will be cheaper. Thanks again Matt, and keep on keeping on and I hope you get well soon!

I didn't know they offered different widths, I thought they only offered +3.I'm down w/only +2. So you all think the hand built Penske shocks are the way to go? That's fine with me, now I can buy a +2+1 LSR steering stem.

What's up fellas? I primarily ride Dunes, XC, mountain trails and some desert when I get down south. I read that if you ride desert and dunes, you want to set the suspension up for desert riding. I like to blast through whoops, rough trails and blast air in the dunes, but my stock 2002 suspension is holding me back. My buddies all have new KTM XC's, Raptor 700's, LT450Rs and 1 has a built Honda 330R and they all hand me my ass through the rough stuff since I'm still on stock suspension. I plan to buy +3 LT Fireball A-Arms which require 19.5" eye to eye shocks. I've read thru several threads and Matt, (SoCal Suspensions) said he likes Custom Axis over Elka's. BTW, how's he doing these days? I really like all the design features of the Elka Stage 5's, especially the integrated shock shaft protectors. The price difference is ~$300 less for the Axis shocks. I figured if I am going to throw down for shocks I want to do it right and do it once and buy the best shocks available, which in my eyes are the Elka Stage 5's. What are your thoughts between the Elka Stage 5's and Custom Axis piggyback triple rates w/Hi/Lo Compression and Rebound and what are thoughts between the two company's customer support and rebuild services? http://www.elkasuspension.com/products/atv/atv-stage5/ http://www.customaxisshocks.com/ATV-Front_Shocks-Piggyback_Coil_Spring.php Thanks in advance!

And if you really want to tune the carbs, get a Carb Sync Tool from FAST. http://www.farmandsandtoys.com/partdetail.asp?partid=59 And also a cheap tachometer for setting idle. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1311.R1.TR4.TRC2.A0.X2+stroke+tach&_nkw=2+stroke+tachometer&_sacat=0&_from=R40 I have 1 just like the 1st one. Helps with setting idle and carb syncing at 5500rpm.

I agree with everything you said except ^^^. With every 2000ft asl you need to go down 1 main jet size due to thinner air so you need to lean out the main jet not richen it, so probably a 280 main jet would be where he needs to be, not 320. Try a 30 pilot jet, but if you find yourself unscrewing the airscrew more than 2.5 turns out to get a crisp throttle snap go down to a 27.5 and start off 1.5 turns out and see how that feels.

^^^ Thanks for the pic! That puts things into perspective nicely. Those are high bend bars? Those look rather low, but perfect. Cable lengths were good? Sorry OP for highjacking the shit out of your thread...

Is that +3 tall and +1 forward? I was wondering if they could do that? You haz any pics?. Oh and BTW, ^^^ WTF is your Avatar?

Nice find! I wonder about the motorcycle low bend just wished they were offered then in silver.

These look killer. Regarding that +4 metallic silver, does it come close to matching stock metallic silver? I know silver can be tough to match.
