  1. I've thought about it, although when I do, i'll still probably send it off, cheap, and I'd like to have someone thats done it before do it. That being said, I believe you would take out the crank, set it up somehow so you can spin it, and use a dial indicator to see which way it is out of true. The repair manual shows where to check at. Then use a hammer to bang it straight. Then simply TIG weld the crank together. Not exactly rocket science, but I can see how someone could screw one up.
  2. I'll throw in a third vote on the DID X-ring. Im using that with I believe sunstar sprockets. Not sure, they are steel though.
  3. Yeah from what I've read on planetsand the welds weren't holding. I would think you could have them rewelded and it should hold fine, but I wouldn't get one now until the problems are figured out/resolved.
  4. You might get a better deal on them by going through some of their retailers, although I would rather pay more money and order them directly from TCS so that you can talk to them about how you want your shocks set up. Otherwise you talk to someone else, who sends what you said to TCS. No interaction with the person doing the actual work. www.tcsracing.com
  5. Last I heard there was a reason it wasn't as good (I can't remember any more, maybe Im remembering wrong). I know the one I had that I took apart (it was connected to the a-arms in my avatar) it just looked cheap. All they use is a round piece of billet with 4 holes in it. The hole size is variable, and the balls sit on top of springs. Faster it moves the more the spring compresses and the ball closes the hole off. Its been awhile since I looked at it (I'll go take some pics tomorrow if I can find it).
  6. I would save the torch for a last resort. Doing that will take the temper out of the steel, and you will not be able to get the strength back. Tempering is more than getting it red hot, and then pouring water on it. All that does is make it extremely brittle. Automotive frame machine would be your best bet. Shouldn't cost too much either if you look around.
  7. Well peak numbers can vary a bunch (look at trinity's site). Did you use slicks on the dyno? Either way, I'd be happy if I were you, nice and broad powerband.
  8. Your either missing an o-ring somewhere, or pinched one. Otherwise there shouldn't be any problems getting it to seal.
  9. If im right, I do believe the Banshee has won Baja more than any other quad. Now granted there really wasn't any competition during all those years, but still.
  10. Repair manual says the max is .018"
  11. Im printing that out and posting it on my wall. Thats hilarous.
  12. Haha, rocketboy says we aren't building space shuttles. Haha, sorry, I just had to laugh when I saw that you said that.
  13. Yep, for alot of people the sealed balljoints would be better. Unless you ride in sand, or somewhere else totally dry, the heims will wear out sooner or later. Personally the arms I've been looking at are the Ishock a-arms.
  14. No, this is the engine, it doesn't need a hammer. Hammers and engines don't go together.
  15. Thats what I was thinking. "Jeff, tell us exactly what you use on the internet for everyone to see. Then we can find a place that sells the same thing for 3 dollars cheaper and post it here too so we can cut you out to save a dollar" Damn people, he's not trying to rip you off.
  16. Yeah I guess it could, just doesn't seem like it would unless its been there for years.
  17. How did the o-ring get destroyed? I don't really see how anything could get to it. Not something I think they counted on as being a wear item. I think your best (and only) bet would be to call them up.
  18. Heres a better idea, if you want a fast car that still can haul some people. Mercedes E55 AMG. It should be quicker than the Dodge too. And last longer, and hold its value longer.
  19. Well, Im not going to argue, and try to convince you of anything about lexus, but every comparison that the LS has been in (car and driver, motortrend, etc... ) it comes out of top of Mercedes, BMW, everyone. Call it a cheap luxury car if you want, but its not. And yeah jaguar to ford would be a better comparison, but Jag still sucks, resale value next to nothing. You would have to give me a Jag.
  20. Not even close. Mercury is just a rebadged Ford. The Lexus is its own car company. Its owned by toyota, and they share platforms on a couple cars, but they aren't the same. The LS has no toyota counterpart.
  21. I don't think the pc would matter that much. I know for a fact that guy in the link you posted is wrong about 1 thing. You can annodize any aluminum part. It doesn't matter whether its cast or not. Plus the surface area of the cylinders isn't that great. They don't transfer that much heat. Look at a car or truck, the engine bay doesn't get much air circulation. All the cooling is done through the radiator. I wouldn't worry about it too much, the powdercoat isn't that much of an insulator. For it to raise engine temps by that much, it would have to be significantly cooler than the aluminum its bonded to. By more than the amount the engine temps would supposedly rise.
  22. Well then I guess cubs would be your next option. Along with new carbs, it should make a good bit more hp. Course there would be other people on here that would be better qualified than me to talk about them, but a set of cubs on a 4mm stroker should be a nice change.
  23. Haha, very true. Nothing hotter than a ls sittin on some chrome 22s blacked out windows, with a banshee in tow. Damn, i need to win the lottery real quick.
  24. You mean the cheapest clutch is the best? Awesome.
